Wonderful service and food to die for.
Love this place. French onion soup is the best ever. Love coming here and the one in Vegas is awesome too.
THEE best french onion soup i've ever had.
cannot wait to go back
What a great place for a casual French bistrot experience! The baguette is just what you would have in Paris, the duck was great and the deserts were generous and did make us feel at home.
A consommer sans modération !
Always Love Mon Ami Gabi. Great dinner! I feel they are safe and planning dining safely. It would be all 5s if it wasn't a tent. Our Server was wonderful and I always look forward to going there.
They have really figured out how to make dining safe yet enjoyable!
The food was fantastic, I highly recommend ordering their baguette and onion soup, and the steaks which they come in different options. The price for the food was perfect, we sat down in the outdoor heated patio/setting they have for these crazy times, but indoor is amazing, it's a real authentic Parisian Bistro.
Everything was excellent, top-notch, except for the temperature. The only thing I would change, is that it was extremely hot with all the heaters running outside.
We were at Mon Ami Gabi on New Years day, 2021. We were specifically looking for heated outside space--which they provided--but I wish the tables were more distant. There was really no way to stay 6 feet from other diners. The food & service were quite good, but we were totally flabbergasted that they were serving people INSIDE. This made me very uncomfortable (after all, our servers were going back and forth to those eating inside too). I don't understand why this was happening, but it definitely detracted from our experience.
Superb service and delicious food, the amazing ambiance you’d expect and want to accompany such a great meal.
Great option for the current COVID dinning restrictions.
We went for New Year’s Eve. Had a lovely time and meal. Menu is somewhat limited due to Covid and we sat outside but in our tent with heaters plenty warm!
Excellent food and service. A safe outdoor tent environment that wasn’t too cold even on a cold night. The baguette.......yum!!!
Sitting in the outdoor dining tent with the Zoo Lights visible was magical. Service was outstanding and, as always, the food was delicious. The perfect way to end a challenging year!
My boyfriend and I always have a lovely time at Mon Ami Gabi. The escargot is a must if you are an adventurous eater, and while we typically go for the steak and frites I recently had the bucket of mussels which was absolutely delicious. Every server we’ve had had always been friendly and informative. Overall I’d highly recommend for either a date or family dinner!
It was my sons 30th birthday. My daughter and her New baby joined us and it was a wonderful evening. The staff are excellent. Courteous, timely and happy to have customers. The food is always excellent. This is a fabulous neighborhood gem and they consistently provide great food and dining experience.
The restaurant seated us inside by an open window. The temp was pleasant - not too cold Not too warm.
I will return here.
It was Christmas Eve
Same great food we’ve come to expect in a warm atmosphere.
We had the prix fixe dinner with short ribs. The parsnip soup was sublime, as was the chocolate mousse cake. The short ribs were more like brisket than I cared for.
We have a holiday dinner with friends here every year for the last 13 years. Will continue to have our holiday dinner here for years to come. Service was great, food was good, and the restaurant is always beautiful this time of year. They’re doing the very best to keep the experience as it should be while respecting Covid precautions and restrictions. For that, we thank the entire staff from front to back.
Although I am all for supporting restaurants and understanding their challenges during COVID, this was just a disagreeable experience. First of all we were in the dining room by a cracked open window which was freezing cold (no heat lamp?) even wearing our coats. The food here has always been overpriced for the « French » label but at least there is some atmosphere and good service. But when you spend over $200 for a basic Caesar salad, french onion soup, steak-frites (steak tasted tenderized and was lukewarm, fries were good but oversalted) and salmon/potatoes you expect at least a little more effort in the kitchen. As drinks we did have a glass of champagne each and then a glass of wine each (the white wine tasted like water had been added - our family is in the wine business) and the chocolate mousse was good. I would avoid during COVID and especially the extremely cold weather...many more modest restaurants are much better equipped and adapted.
Mon ami Gabi never disappoints. Excellent food and service!!
Too cold in the environment due to COVID restrictions. Entrees were luke warm when delivered and cold within minutes.
Mon Ami continues to be one of our favorite restaurants. We are never disappinted in the quality of the food, ambience and service, even during th pandemic.
Under the circumstances, with COVID restrictions and pouring rain, we could not have had a more wonderful experience. The total experience was wonderful and unique.
Great experience all around. I have celiac disease and must avoid gluten, and they are always happy to accommodate. The food is great too, especially the gluten-free French onion soup and all variations of Steak Frites.
great cozy place for a nice dinner
service was great as well
Great accommodations in the outdoor tent area. The staff did a tremendous job of providing great service and the food was served hot and fresh. Couldn’t ask for more during these tough times!
Excellent distancing during covid times. Nice table in the outside tent with heaters. Service and food were excellent.
Followed COVID rules while being able to enjoy dinning.
Such a treat to be able to eat wonderful food in a comfortable atmosphere outdoors in Chicago during December. Trout is my favorite here. Save room for dessert as the french classics are a traditional and delicious ending to any meal.
Not equipped to host diners during Covid due to cold conditions and terrible quality of food.
The ambiance was so beautiful all decorated for the holidays! The service was impeccable and the food is always delicious!!! Perfect 10!!!
Favorite go to restaurant.
The food was excellent. My wife did eat something that didn't agree with her but otherwise the experience was outstanding.
iT WAS VERY COLD. i LOOKED AT THE WEB SITE AND THEY APPEARED TO HAVE INDOOR SEATING. wHEN WE GOT THERE THEY SAID INDOORS WAS FULL SO WE WERE IN THE TENT.
This whole COVID thing is a real bummer. They did what they could but it was a very expensive very disappointing experience. It was freezing in the restaurant bc of open windows and a way scaled back menu left us wanting (think no creme brûlée, pate, etc.)
Wait until things go back to semi-normal and you can actually eat inside again.
The food was superlative as was our server. We enjoyed the evening tremendously and will definitely be back.
It is a pandemic so I will tread lightly on my comments. So many restaurants have figured out the cold weather issues w outdoor dining, however Mon Ami Gabi is an exception. It was too cold. Service was mediocre with only 4 other tables. The managers seemed clueless as to how cold the outdoor space was. The cappuccinos were awful. The food could have been better. I will chalk this one up to covid, but I certainly won’t go back until things normalize.
