Mon Ami Gabi - Bethesda Ratings and Reviews
I love Mon Ami Gabi and we eat there often. However, our service was below par. I ordered a martini which never came until I talked to the manager after asking 4 times! Our friends ordered wine and they brought the wrong bottle. The restaurant redeemed itself when the manager brought us a complimentary dessert. The food as always was excellent.
We dine here monthly. Service was way waitert seemed distracted by the number of tables served and never had time to answer our questions or repsond to requests for water, menus, etc. We had a problem with an entree whichwas served medium rare when it was supposed tobe medium and he stopped at the table, didnot repsone, and went off. The problem was only resolved after we spoke to a manager who assigned another waiter after our entrees had been served. Our first waiter seemed to have disappeared form the restaurant. No acomodation was offered for the extremely poor service.
We went for a Sunday lunch before going to a concert at nearby Strathmore. We both had the sea scallops. They were SO good, and the onion/butternut squash/celery root mixture with a tasty buttery sauce they were served with was really delicious. Not a quiet restaurant, but not too noisy, great service. We had a very nice experience.
We like the restaurant. Go there two to three times a month. Never disappointed. John and Diana Lacz French onion soup, escargot and oysters all great. Except this last visit oysters were miniature and hence over priced! They need help on making a Crown Royal wiskey old fashion. Not uniform. JAL
Great place for family dinner, GNO, and special occasions. There is always something on the menu for everyone, and it’s easy to get in/out in less than an hour with my family, or linger longer when there with friends.
Always amazing service! Great host/manager too!
Braulio was our server and he was great. We ordered wine and he brought the bottle over for us to sample. Wasn’t very pushy like some servers tend to be.
We always have our favorite items to order at Mon but this time around we opted to try something new and different.
I had the pasta with mushrooms, very good.
Hanger steak was cooked just right (medium)
Dessert is always good but I do hope they bring back the pistachio creme brûlée.
Friend recommended this place. She said it was rated best last year. I don't see how that was the case. The food was not good at all. Though the service was nice.
We ordered a full order of the mussels and split a steak dish. Heard the mussels were good but when they came out, they were huge and the meat was tiny and rubbery. They looked to be cooked/heated for several days. Definitely not fresh at all. Basically, they were the worst mussels I've ever tasted at a restaurant.
When the steak dish came out, they split the meal into two dishes. That was very nice of them to do that. Very convenient for us to share but again the steak wasn't very good. It was cold by the time it came out. Something about eating a cold steak at a restaurant. We didn't even bother complaining b/c we were so hungry.
Though the service was nice. I gave 3 stars overall but gave 5 stars for service to make up for the bad food they served. The only thing I enjoyed that evening at the restaurant was the company and dipping the bread with the broth from the mussels dish.
The guy at the entrance was not at all friendly. We got stuck in traffic and I even call to let them we were late. When we got there we had to sit outside because for a table inside we had to wait for 20 minutes. I am a member of Lettuce Entertain you and this is not the way we are treated at Summer House. The waiter and the rest of the staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. Just the receptionist was quite unpleasant. I would definitively recommend this place. I had been in this restaurant four days before and wanted to take some friends visiting from Philly the place that is why I went back. Thanks to everyone (Monday lunch and Friday dinner).
A regular spot that has started to turn consistently disappointing. The service was inattentive, disorganized, and slow. The food has gone from being interesting and dependably delicious to obviously prefab - rather like Maggiano's or Cheesecake Factory. Since Mon Ami Gabi is still not cheap, the changes are even more of a disappointment.
- My duck was good, large portion, but came very slowly and the server defended the kitchen.
- When asked to pack away the left over for a bit later, the server probably misheard & took away all my food to pack...
- Later I discovered that the green beans were cooked in butter, as the grease solidified in the fridge. WHY can't they cook in vegi oil???
