Mon Ami Gabi - Bethesda Ratings and Reviews
I adore Mon Ami Gabi. How can you beat a restaurant that starts you off with a warm fresnch bagette a tub of soft butter and fresh rasberry jam. Forget the food I was happy with the bread.
Order the steak and frittes. wonderful salads amazing oysters.
Our server Adam was friendly attentive and available. I could tell he really takes pride in his job.
Excellent food, even better service and a nice choice of entrees. Our waiter Reuben went way beyond the call to serve us well and guarantee that we had a good experience. This has become my favorite place to eat in Bethesda and we will go back often. Only drawback is that it's a little noisy, especially if you sit in the middle of the room at a table for 5 or more.
Very pleasant atmosphere. Two of our party were late but they seated us and did not pressure us to order. We also lingered at the table after dinner and they did not make us feel uncomfortable so pressure us to order dessert, coffee, etc. even though they were full and busy. The food was superb!
Personal attention from waiter. My husband and I went with another couple for lunch. I requested a quiet table and got the perfect place in the corner. Also, as a vegan, I was able to pre-order a meal that is usually only available on the dinner menu. Great!
We really like to go to Mon Ami Gabi, but there is something very disconcerting when you have made a reservation for 5:00, the restaurant is half empty and they take you to a table in a corner in the back. That was not too romantic for Valentine's Day. I did object and they gave me a different table. Our bill was almost $100.00, so it was not a cheap date. I had the skate which was delicious, but why anyone would accompany it with roasted cauliflower on pureed cauliflower I'm don't know. Didn't look good and didn't taste wonderful.
Went here for lunch on a weekday and the dining room was practically dead which is good so we felt very taken care of. Alex was our server and he was awesome. Not as French cozy as I thought it would be atmosphere-wise (perhaps the ceilings are a bit too high, non?) but the portions were generous and we were filled, especially the protiferoles at the end. Will come back often.
One of our favorite places, in Bethesda and the DC area overall. This was my first time venturing beyond the steak frites, which I love but had had a few weeks earlier, and I was equally impressed with my meal of scallops. Overall, the food is delicious, the environment charming, and the service excellent. I recommend it very highly.
My fiance and I celebrated his 31st birthday at Mon Ami Gabi and had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly, the food was excellent and we enjoyed people watching from our table in the bar area. We live in Baltimore, but would return to the restaurant if we are in Bethesda again.
We had a very nice time at Mon Ami Gabi once we found parking, that was the most challenging part of the evening. Our appetizers (homemade chips and garlic toast w/hot cheese and tomato) were not terribly exciting but we really enjoyed the sea bass and steak au poivre entrees. I asked for brussel sprouts instead of pureed potatos with the sea bass and got only brussel sprout leaves. It comes as a side dish, I hope you get the whole brussel sprout if it's ordered that way. Our friends had hamburgers w/bleu cheese (not on the menu) and enjoyed them. Our favorite dessert was carrot cake, it was a large piece and enough to share. I gave it only 3 stars for ambiance because cold air came in whenver a new customer opened the door.
Close to movie theater, so a good choice for before or after the theater. Is always full of diners, so fun place to be in the heart of Bethesda. Has a warm and friendly ambiance. Although waiters quickly bring a warm loaf of French bread to the table, the main courses are only fair, including some lackluster specials.
