Mon Ami Gabi is one of our favorite places. Great food, wine and service
Consistently good. All of our favorites. Onion soup, steak frites and creme brûlée.
This is one of my favorite places. I feel like I am in Europe. The service and food is always good. As a Lettuce Awards member, I get points which I can use toward the next dinner which also entices me to come here rather than another restaurant.
The food was good, but our waiter was not to be found. He disappeared and never came back to check if we needed more wine or wanted coffee.
Min Ali Gabi is reliably good; a little pricey for a weekday lunch, though dinner prices are fine.
Food was delicious. The service was not great, but we left happy and full! A good, classic french bistro. Would definitely return.
This place had been really good but of late has been inconsistent.
consistently good food
Was seated outside. Beautiful night, great service, and good food. What else could you ask for.
We had a wonderful business dinner at Mon Ami Gabi. Our waiter was kind, respectful and presented the foods as if it were a gift. His recommendations were spot on. All of our food was cooked to order and better than we could have imagined. If I am in the area again, I will definitely be dining here again.
Always a good restaurant for friends to meet for lunch. Good food, good service and not too noisy.
A lovely meal and would have rated the food 5 star if it wasn't for the muscles. They were massive and very chewy. My 8 year old daughter loves muscles and they were that we big we had to cut them in half and they were still chewy.
Otherwise a nice find and we will b going back. The snails were lovely.
Great service and food , enjoyed it!
Excellent meal and experience, as always. Our regularly requested server, Greg, was wonderful, as always.
Frizee salad is to die for. Great service. Always reliable.
Brunch meeting with friend/business colleague. Service was great as was the food.
This is a wonderful place to meet an old friend. Perfect location and atmosphere.
Nice atmosphere, and great food and service... neighborhood gem...
Out standard after the movie evening was delightful, as usual. Great service and delicious food. Salute!
We love eating at Mon Ami Gabi. The service is always excellent and the food is very tasty. I usually try their specials as they are a delightful change from the standard menu. We have been there for brunch and dinner during different times of the year. I highly recommend this restaurant to both locals and visitors.
As always, excellent service. Went for the Passover dinner. Food was very good. The gefilte fish seemed to have a lot of pepper or something spicy though. All other dishes were quite good.
My new favorite place!!! Loved the food... service was fabulous!!
Saturday brunch, very tasty, great service, very charming atmosphere!
Passover dinner was wonderful, and no dishes to wash! :)
Wonderful evening as always!
Mon Ami Gabi never fails to have great food. I love their French Onion soup and their lunch specials. Our waiter told us that you can always order half portions as well. Nice ambiance. Has outdoor seating in front and on the side when the weather is nice. Surprisingly quite large restaurant. Great place to meet up for lunch, dinner and or happy hour.
Great food.
The most delightful sever. Attentive, knowledgeable and extremely helpful.
Quite possibly the best service I've experienced in the area.
Everything was professional, delicious, satisfying and fun. I appreciated the tablecloths with white paper on top. Some restaurants eschew that and prefer all eco clean, which is fine, but for a dining experience, the table cloth w white paper is bright, clean, warm and cozy.
Love it! The whole ambiance was nice as was the food and service. Keep it going please! Thank you!!
We chose to stop in for lunch on short notice due to a previous excellent brunch. We were not disappointed. Starting with the baguette and then following it with the best quiche lorraine around and an excellent salad. Dessert was also superb.
The Bethesda location is always very busy...but I don't really understand why. Several items on the menu were not available, even though we went on the early side. The breach is always good, but hardly compensates for the quality of the entrees. The onion soup did not taste authentic - more like cooked onions with some fairly tasteless bouillon poured on top all covered by the gooey gruyere we usually expect from French onion soup: filling but disappointing, factory style onion soup. Salads are mediocre at best, my drowned in dressing. While it's nice that they give you a taste of the wine before pouring you a glass, the wine prices are stiff and the quality of the French wines is less than expected. She had the steak frites, but the thin steak, while cooked to medium rare as requested was still sinuey and tough. The fries are great. The biggest disappointment was the beef bourguignon: It was nothing like I remember, and no where close to the version I had recently at La Diplomate for about the same price. The dish was nothing more than pale overcooked large beef chunks, with undercooked lardons and undercooked vegetables, swimming is what tasted like and looked like the same juice they used for the onion soup, with some coagulated noodles in the middle. When I asked for something else the waiter said he'd have to check with the manager, which made me feel like I was the guy at fault. No apology, no quickly bringing the substitutes I ordered. The spinach was bitter and boring and the the mac and cheese was just a wash in some pathetic milky cheese sauce.
Great place for family Birthday celebration! All 7 of us enjoyed our appetizers, entree and desserts
Will be back soon
Tonight, we invited our friends, who came up from downtown DC, to have dinner with us at our "go-to" bistro in Bethesda, Mon Ami Gabi to celebrate a special occasion.
Shortly after we ordered our food, the fire alarm went off. And shortly after that, we were told to evacuate the restaurant and wait outside. We waited outside in the cold temperature for a long time, as the firefighters arrived and put out the fire in the building. Most people began to leave. After the firefighters began leaving, we went back.
When we had arrived at Mon Ami Gabi before the fire, the restaurant was completely full. When we went back inside after the fire, the restaurant was mostly empty - only about 10 tables had come back.
Our glasses, bread plates or cutlery were not changed. We assumed nobody had been near our tables while we were gone that whole time, and decided not to say anything or request to be moved to a clean table.
The fire alarm light continued to flash brightly every few seconds throughout the rest of our meal.
Nobody from management came to speak with us the entire night. Neither to apologize for the inconvenience, nor offer us complementary anything, for instance tea (after waiting out in the cold for so long!)
When we received the check, we noticed that there also was no comp there. We were charged fully for the entire meal, as if we had a normal meal there.
While we love the food at Mon Ami Gabi, we find this lack of management to be unacceptable. While Mon Ami Gabi did not cause the fire or our freezing ourselves outside, waiting for the fire to be put out, and while we feel bad that Mon Ami Gabi must have lost so much business tonight (given that most tables did not come back), as loyal customers that waited outside in the freezing cold and chose to and did come back, we should have been treated better.
Our service tonight was way below our normal experience at this restaurant. Our meal tonight was interrupted by a fire alarm in the building even though our waitress was quick to bring the check as we were in the process of evacuating the restaurant. Hope the restaurant makes good for another evening as some sort of compensation for a less than enjoyable evening.
Mon Ami Gabi is always consistent, often very festive — especially on a weekend, and quite delicious! It’s got a really nice atmosphere; it’s warm and nicely lit. And somehow it’s always very convivial. It’s just a nice place to hang out with friends or my favorite date; my boyfriend/husband. And in addition to having delicious food, it’s not overpriced. It’s a good value.
All I have to say is Wow...what a great experience and restaurant. From the bread served when you are seated to the desserts, everything was just AMAZING!! We also had the best waiter, Mr. Smith (I believe). He was friendly, attentive, and answered our questions on the menu like he cooked it. I recommend making reservations as it gets busy and it was nice just to walk in and get seated. Oh, one more thing....the Wine choices were also fantastic and whatever your don't finish, you get to take home. This is a restaurant we will go back to on many occasions.
Reliably first-rate upscale bistro
All six at our table enjoyed this restaurant and its food very much. Our waiter Alan was very kind and helpful and brought us two free deserts to enjoy. My friends were from out of town and the location near their hotel was perfect, and truly enjoyed the cuisine choices. It was a hit!
The wait staff and management went out of their way to make our anniversary celebration a marvelous evening. Every detail was exceptional, the food and drink was top notch and the desert plate that was personalized with chocolate script by our waiter was a work of art! We could not have asked for a better time.
This has always been a go-to favorite in Bethesda. I dined there last week with my adult son. The food was good, but not as good as it has been. The artichoke seemed overcooked, and a little flavorless and watery. The steak frites was fine, but the bordelaise sauce was a bit overwhelming. The profiteroles were great!!
Amazing food from the entree to the dessert. Price really affordable for lunch. Thank you!
