Went with my family for restaurant week. I love coming here then. I like the options, and the steak frites are delicious. We also got soup, bread, a dessert sampler, and a glass of wine for the deal. Service was a little bit slow but it was crowded so I get there were a lot of orders going in. Will definitely visit again!
I love this place. Such a pleasant restaurant with great food. We went for restaurant week and had a very generous lunch. Their French Onion Soup is one of the best in town. Service was great too. Love that they give you a fresh loaf of bread with your meal. I just hope that the Purple Line doesn't disrupt it too much. The Purple Line will go right next to the outside seating.
Nice ambiance. I have been here twice and both times had the same unimpressive server who was not patient or helpful so I asked the manager to assist us with our order. We got a different server who was much more attentive and courteous. Food was average. Personally I think the food is overpriced for the quality. Nothing worth writing home about.
Food was meh
We had a party of 4 for a friend's birthday. Everything from the chopped root salad to the Bronzino was cooked very well with an assortment of winter veggies (and chestnuts!!!). The sauces were also very tasty. For dessert, without asking, the staff brought out puff pastry filled with ice cream and topped with a dark chocolate sauce accompanied by crème brulee and chocolate mousse. And, of course, a candle on top! Yum! All-in-all a very pleasant time. Mon Ami is my go-to restaurant for consistently good fare. Oh, and a nice wine list as well.
Accommodating on a snowy date night. Fast service, accommodating to our dietary requests for low carb, fast service.
Always great food and great service. Bethesda Restaurant Week selections excellent in Jan 2019.
All I can say it that it was straight 🔥
Always a great restaurant. Excellent food and service. One of our favorites. Today they fell short. Both lunch meals at our table were returned for having too much salt. Restaurant did not honor Open Table coupon for the full amount. They discounted the fee to Open Table according to the staff person who helped. Must be a new policy. Everyone was friendly. Would recommend restaurant but they did not come thru this occasion.
Steak & Frittes were delicious!
Food was nothing special. In fact, the fish of the day seemed like the fish from yesterday.
Third time here and likely the last. Quelle domage.
Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon before catching a movie around the corner. Lovely French feel. Reminded me of my Paris trip a few months ago. Had the onion soup and Caesar salad. My sister had the artichoke and spinach benefit with potatoes. Also had fresh warm French bread. Glass of Merlot. All good. Try it you'll like it!
We have patronized this restaurant for many years and were disappointed to have the worst service we have ever experienced during a recent visit. One of our guests also had a badly prepared meal that needed to be returned to the kitchen. The manager took care of the return very graciously and that was appreciated since we could not find the server. The server was not at all attentive and generally could not be found. His service was very disappointing and did not make ours a pleasant experience.
We always receive great service and the good is delicious as usual!
The steak frites and profiterole are sure-bet options. I want to try other things in the menu but I always end up ordering those because they're so delicious! Always nice to start with their warm crispy baguette and grated carrot dish. Nice, lively atmosphere, superb service.
I had a really bad experience with one of the managers called Nicodemus. He was extremely rude to me although I explained to him it was my first time at the restaurant and I had a lot of guests. Mark on the other hand saved the day and made my birthday dinner a success.
Excellent on all counts.
Amazing food! Wonderful service. Five star restaurant. Will go again soon. Ps. Best Tarte Titin ever!!!!
My family’s favorite restaurant in downtown Bethesda!
We noticed a deterioration in the quality of the food from previous times we've eaten at Mon Ami Gabi. This was true of all the dishes that were served to our party: the salads were skimpy, the shrimp cocktail consisted of smaller shrimp than before, etc. Disappointing.
Limited menu, conservative classic French-style food, not much ambition but reliably comforting steaks, pasta, frites etc at relatively high price.
Wonderful service, food and atmosphere!
Ordered was wrong twice . Food runner was rude and then talked about us. I won’t be back anytime soon .
The food and the service were great! The escargot was delicious and so was the medium rare steak.
We had last dined at the Las Vegas Mon Ami Gabi and had fond memories of that experience. We were therefore not disappointed when we chose to dine at Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda one recent Thursday evening. It was packed, but service was nonetheless very good. The mussels mariniere I ordered were amazingly large and quite flavourful, and my wife was quite pleased with the flavors in the French onion soup she ordered. When we return to Bethesda we will certainly be dining here again !
Great food, great service. I felt like I was back in Paris. Love the ambiance. The Bethesda Mon Ami Gabi is much better than the other ones I’ve been to
The tile floors are slippery, like they are covered with grease. Unusual and unappealing.
The French onion soup is superlative. Ask your waiter if you can half a cup size instead of a bowl if you are intending a big meal entree. Our group visited on New Year's Day and the energy was robust so sometimes conversation was quite challenging. Our waiter did inquire if we needed to get to a film nearby, which was very considerate. The beef wellington was very good, but one person felt the duck was a bit tough or overcooked. All in all, however, the food is good, the rooms and tables quite lovely, and the ambiance quite festive and fun.
Yum! Yum! However, the service was even better than the food. Even though we had brunch on January 1st, the service was friendly, fast and flawless. How did the staff recover so quickly after New Year's Eve?
Very good food, excellent service and appropriate for any occasion. Quite crowded and pretty noisy, yet a wonderful outing!
I visted the restaurant with my husband on Jan 1st 2019 for a brunch. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed! The soup of the day was too salty and the crepe did not have a good taste!
Nothing to add to my ratings
It was NYE so more noise than normal. This is my fav restaurant but I must say, the bathrooms are truly terribly maintained. I want to clean those stall walls every time I come in. The black color does not hide the filth!! Please fix this.
Several of us had the duck (main course). It was much over-salted which has not happened before when we had the duck. Maybe just a one time slip up. We still think Mon Ami Gabi is an outstanding restaurant in all respects.
This restaurant never fails to deliver. Great food and wine, great ambiance...but what sets it apart is the personal touch of the servers.
Always a special favorite. Service attentive and manager appreciative. Menu nice although we had understood there would be a special one on Dec 31.
The escargot is the best I've found in the DC area. Garlicky clarified butter with herbs surround the snails and your own crusty baguette for all that delicious butter. Nothing on earth like it. Nice wine selection, great entrees, reliable quality.
I enjoyed the excellent spinach salad with grilled salmon. The light lemon dressing was flavorful and perfectly complimented the meal.
Fine service, thanks
Waiter was just ok
