This place has been a standard for us for years after a movie at Bethesda Row. However, tonight’s meal was a disappointment. Ordered the $37 halibut with sun chokes very disappointing.
First time patron and it was lovelier than I had even expected. The service was exemplary and the food was delicious with ample portions. Just a lovely restaurant which, judging by the filled spaces, is a very popular venue, and I look forward to my next visit.
I have enjoyed multiple meals at Mon Ami Gabi over the years -- and the service has always been outstanding! Therefore I was surprised, disappointed, and embarrassed when my guests and I had such a terrible experience yesterday. The server was careless -- maybe inexperienced? We asked him to replace the bread -- which was HARD -- and although he took away the hard loaf, and said he'd replace it, he didn't. He didn't refill the coffee. At one point, he did offer me coffee, and when I asked for decaf, he didn't bring it. It took forever for the food to appear which may have been a kitchen problem. It also took forever to get the check. It was a bad experience. Maybe you have better servers at dinner?
Good food reasonably priced along with great service. A Bethesda staple.
We go to Mon Ami Gabi frequently and always value the service and food.
Went to restaurant after movie on Sat night. Very busy as usual. Food was very good and service good given crowd
We ate before valet at Kennedy Center. We only had an hour. Our waitress was courteous and efficient. We ate outside the weather was great! I had the Halibut special and I would say it was the best fish I be had my honeymoon in Italy. Great choice
Everything was excellent including our waiter Gregory
Mon Ami Gabi is reliably good. Got a lovely evening to dine al fresco. Onion soup, escargot and steaks were excellent; desserts still super. Just wish the people who come outside to talk on their mobile phones would move away from the outdoor diners.
We have been to MonAmiGabi so many times and the Thursday was unusually noisy. It just was no way to carry a conversation, major drawback.
Went there for a business lunch and we were seated in a quiet area of the restaurant. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the surroundings, albeit faux bistro, were very pleasant. The luncheon special was a salmon club sandwich which both looked and tasted wonderful.
Birthday dinner celebration for my wife. The ambiance and service are excellent. The servers and waiters made us feel welcome and special. The food was very good overall but lacking complexity on the flavors. We ordered their signature appetizer escargot it was ok, the prime steak classique and bordelaise were very good. We enjoyed the complimentary dessert profiteroles.
The noise level was so high that it was difficult to talk with my wife. It made our lunch rather unpleasant.
Alas, the frisee salad no longer authentically Parisian... Mussels, artichoke, trout etc just fine.
Great food, good ambiance, bit too noisy. Service was fine, and overall it is a good experience except for the noise.
Good french food served in a french bistro atmosphere. Front room with windows most desirable venue and should be given to those with reservations but you may need to ask. Service is friendly but when it's busy you sometimes need to flag down a server to refill water, etc. Solid Bethesda Row choice for business or pleasure occasion. You won't go wrong with steak frites, french onion soup, trout almondine and the escargot. The warm baguette served with butter is the piece de resistance! Coffee and dessert are done well too.
We four thoroughly enjoyed the Rosh Hashannah meal from start to finish Our server was outstanding and we will see you next year most likely with two additional guests.
We ate outside on a nice Sunday evening at it was very nice. Steak frites were good as always, and the onion soup was also excellent.
We were there for Rosh Hashanah dinner menu. 2 slices of challah were served- had to request more 2 times
. Courses came too quickly
Service was slow/ waited 30 minutes for a cup of coffee
Coffee should be included
Rosh Hashanah and Passover menus never vary
Always good to come back to Mon Ami Gabi ! We did enjoy our dinner very much !
Celebrating three birthdays at a real French style restaurant. Great food and service.
A visit to the DC area isn’t complete without dinner here. From service to after dinner cafe, delightful and delicious. I am not prone to superlatives, but Mon Ami Gabi Bethesda merits them.
Our first time back to Mon Ami Gabi in a number of years. Few things have changed and that is a very positive reaction. Excellent preparation of bistro classics--onion soup, crepes and steak frites. We will certainly return soon.
Priz Fixe for lunch is awesome! 3 courses of manageable portions for $20 lets you have all the tastes and leaves money left over for more important things, like wine!
Nice setting, good food and service staff. Great baguette!
The outdoor terrace has great atmosphere. Trout almondine is excellent.
Almost nothing after our appetizer was right, or on time.
That said, we've had several good meals here before, so we'll call this one an off night and move on.
Our server was Gregory Smith and probably one of the best server I’ve had in a long time. He made our celebration so enjoyable.
Quiche was very dry
Mon Ami is a great place for dinner or lunch.
They paid for my bday dessert! Yay
Delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent service! Great value for money the lunch menu, with a delicious options! All in all, my party and I had a great time!
Food quality is in decline. In particular, the food seems to never reach the table suitably hot. Might be time to give up on this old classic (classique?)
The food was disappointing. The French onion soup was very sweet, and my trout was dry.
All around fabulous
The restaurant noise level is too high and it is difficult to carry on a conversation
Our server was wonderful. Loved sitting outside. Steak was a little flavorless. And I’d expect a better wine by the glass list at a French bistro. We do like the restaurant and will be back.
We are frequent guests of Mon Ami and have found the service and food excellent. However, on this past occasion for lunch, we were all disappointed with the service -- slow, inconsistent and wrong orders arrived. DISAPPOINTED!! Hope this is one off.
My friends and I meet regularly at Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda and have always had lovely food and an enjoyable time. But on this occasion we found the dining room had new, stiff, and rather uncomfortable chairs. We still had an enjoyable time, but just shifted on our seats more than usual.
