Mon Ami Gabi - Bethesda
Nice and pleasant service
spectacular food outstanding service
Mon Ami Gabi had great atmosphere. Really looked and felt like a French Brasserie. Frisée salad, duck liver pate, salmon and steak frites were very good. The only real issue was a few points off for service. Greeted nicely at seated right away, water within seconds but our server, who was professional and friendly, had too many tables so it took too long to get cocktails and starter orders in. Everything improved after that. Excellent price and value for this area
Lovely evening, even with Coronavirus concern. Diners came out to support the restaurant and we had a lovely time. Scallop appetizer was so good I want to rush right back! Lovely bottle of Bordeaux at a $55 price point. Suggested by the server, who was knowledgeable about everything on the menu. Steak frites done nicely. Value suffered just a bit for the portion at a $24 price. It was plenty to eat. The brandy-peppercorn was delicious! Thanks Mon Ami Gabi!
Always reliably good in all respects. Something for everyone.
Great food and service. A bit dark and difficult to see the menu, but would definitely go back!
We really like this restaurant. Good food, great service. We were made to feel especially welcomed on this visit because business is off due to the Corona 19 virus. I hope customers return soon.
Gregory Smith, our server, was so welcoming and attentive. He is the textbook example of how to make guests feel comfortable and cared for.
Oh yes, dinner, steak frites and the cod entree were terrific. But the service was perfect. Thanks, Gregory.
Sat outside and was gorgeous. My daughter joined me and we split everything. Server was so accommodating and our food deliverer, was completely efficient.
Very nice experience....as usual! This a go-to favorite for us.
A fantastic Monday lunch out -- walked in early for our reservation and were quickly seated. Burgers were cooked perfectly and the French Manhattans made the meal.
Excellent, as always
It's a fine place for lunch
but be prepared to wait your order.
Excellent restaurant, especially great for a special occasion
We were four seniors coming to a restaurant we had not been in before. We are always worried about the noise levels in restaurants. We were seated in one of the back rooms, and were pleasantly surprised that the noise level was not too high, and we were able to have a good conversation. It's a great restaurant with a varied menu and very good food. We had the steak and enjoyed it a lot.
Food delivered at room temperature and had to be sent back. We were seated in the back room with large families with loud children. Wine was not decanted. Service slow due to not enough wait and service staff.
When I told the manager , he shrugged his shoulders . We should have been offered front room bar area before being told the only window table was in the back room.
Great food, service and ambiance!!!
Always a favorite :)
Nice lunch spot, great atmosphere, good service.
The salad which was labeled as a Caesar Salad, was anything but! Just because Romaine lettuce is chopped up and shredded cheese is sprinkled over----that does NOT make a Caesar Salad!
We had the French martini, steak frites, roast chicken, green beans, and chocolate mousse. Everything was fresh and good. Already planning another visit.
Amazing! Great service by Diana and all the staff. We will be back soon!
Always a pleasure in food and service. Many French design elements like tile floor and wood chairs make the noise level somewhat high for folks over 70 or those with hearing issues.
Delicious food served in a beautiful presentation by solicitous and knowledgeable waiters in a bustling but friendly and comforting ambiance. Just like the bistros in Paris! One of my family's all-time favorites, whether for a special occasion or just a fun night out.
Ambiance, food, presentation and server were excellent.
Great food and ambience. I had to keep telling our host that our assigned table was crappy so the eventual table was only slightly better even though there were other open tables in better locations that didn't have reserved signs on them. Seems a little odd and discriminating.
We had such a lovely waiter. Wish I knew his name. We were celebrating 2 50th birthdays. He was so sweet & brought us glass of wine & profiteroles with candles.
Food & wine were excellent.
Our server Mike was OUTSTANDING. Great guy and love MAG...favorite in Bethesda
Our favorite restaurant in the County. Duck a l'Orange was perfectly done - crispy skin, not overdone on the inside. Grand mere's chicken was likewise delicious. Potato-leek soup was very tasty, with some good zip to it. Cocktails are always tasty. Service was attentive and friendly but not too much so.
Love this place my wife and I have been here for our anniversary 2 years in a row and they are consistently great. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. The food and the wine are amazing, I always try something else but I always have the French onion soup which is fantastic.
Dear Cristoza, Thank you for celebrating with us! I'm glad that you enjoyed the food. We look forward to taking great care of you again soon. Best, Miranda Carbone Manager
My wife and I have eaten at Mon Ami Gabi many times. We are consistently pleased with the food and wine.
Cold steaks 2x
Very nice and always great food!
We had a business commitment for dinner at another place with others, but wanted some great desserts afterward. I recommended Mon Ami Gabi for its profiteroles and crème brûlée. We arrived and the dining room was packed! It was Saturday night, bien sûr !
Anyway, it was quite slow getting a menu and ordering, but the result was all I hoped for. 2 orders of profiteroles and 1 crème brûlée and “oohs and ahs” all around the table! A little espresso or cappuccino and the evening had a perfect ending.
If you have not tried their profiteroles you MUST! I mean what’s not to love — nice little puff pastries filled with exceptional vanilla ice cream and topped with dark chocolate syrup!
We’ve heard things like this, in a cup, called parfaits, but this IS the perfect dessert, in my humble opinion!
I’ll be back, but for much more of the great menu next time.
Oh, and in terms of ambiance, Bethesda is MUCH better than their Reston location and worth some extra drive time, if that choice applies to you.
A la prochaine, mon ami, Gabi!!!!
Exceptional value for delicious food, ambiance and wines.the back room by the kitchen is quiet compared to the front area.
We went for a 1st anniversary celebration and had a party of 12 - two tables with 6 at each. Our waiter, Ruben, was excellent and had 1 or 2 assistants helping him to keep things moving with our large party. The food was great, the service excellent, and while we didn't rush, we were able to get on to our follow-up celebration across town in Bethesda by 8:30. Great job Ruben!
Dear NormW, Thank you for the nice review. I'm happy to hear that you both enjoyed your 1st-anniversary celebration. Please join us in the near future. Best, Miranda
Mon Ami Gabi was the perfect place to take our friends for a delicious and cozy dinner. The food was sumptuous, the ambience inviting and warm, and the service excellent. My rib eye and frites were so good, that is all I am ever ordering there from now on. That and the macaroni gratin, which I chose for my appetizer and which is macaroni and cheese better than you have had before, pure creamy and cheesy goodness. We could have stayed there chatting and enjoying ourselves all evening -- that's how cozy this place was -- but we had to go home and walk the dog!
Dear Suzie, Thank you for this terrific review! We love hearing how our hard work is enjoyed by our guests. Next time stay and chat :) Please let me know if I can ever assist you with a reservation. Best, Adam Murphy General Manager
Great! Thanks! We really enjoyed our evening! Good food!
Dear Caroline M. Thank you for the kind review. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the food. Come back and see us again soon! Warm Regards, Adam Murphy General Manager
Our server was amazing! Simply amazing.
Our wait person was terrific. There were two staff persons who deliver your orders once available from kitchen. The soup and dessert server was great. The main course server delivered my food to me and it was cold. Had to be returned for heating. This made our luncheon stretch into 1.5 hours + and I needed a quicker experience. The food was good and the glass of wine was wildly expensive. too expensive for lunch.
Tried this restaurant as it appeared as one of the top 10 in Bethesda. Was disappointed to arrive and find it a themed chain restaurant. The type of place that hosts large parties, one of which we were unfortunately sat beside.
Service was solid. Food lacked depth. Entire experience was bland and unremarkable.
Reliable option but not worth a special trip.
