They had a Passover set menu for the first two nights. We went on night one. I thought it was a little odd going to a French restaurant for Passover but their menu was authentic and aplenty. It was outstanding. The main dish was brisket, potato pancake, string beans. The best brisket I’ve ever had. Seriously good. Each item was special. A worthwhile dining experience in every way. I was pleasantly stuffed. Even Rubin, our waiter was very personal and attentive.
My wife and I and our two friends had a wonderful and wine.
Two of us had the Passover menu and two of us had steak; we were very pleased with our food.
We were very impressed with our server, Jordan; he was attentive and knowledgeable and kept us informed about the progress of our meals.
All in all a very satisfying dining experience.
We had a wonderful dinner; loved the food. Although our waiter was lovely, he forgot to serve the wine requested, it took 4 asks to get ketchup, my section of the split bill equaled the total bill (not half). All of this took away from the experience, took our time and need to 'work' a bit for what should have come without the aforementioned.
There were 6 of us. Our server was patient and professional; he explained the specials of the day and he made sure that our needs were met. My dish was excellent, but a lady at my table was unhappy with the mussels platter she ordered. I will definitely return to Mon Ami Gabi.
Took my husband for dinner on his 50th birthday specifically so we could have the bread pudding for dessert. Was told it had been taken off the menu even though previously I have asked for and gotten it when it wasn't on the menu. Very disappointed especially because it was supposed to be his favorite dessert on his 50th birthday.
Mon Ami Gabi is our favorite brunch place in Bethesda! But don't think they only do brunch, we've had fantastic dinners there, as well. It's as close to an authentic French cafe that you will find in the the area. It's a personal favorite :)
We loved the food, but the server was a bit robotic and awkward. He wasn't very personable, but he did a good job as a server.
Mon Ami Gabi is one of our go to restaurants but unfortunately this past Saturday night was disappointing.
Had to ask several times for water, food was not hot and had to be sent back, hopefully this is not the new norm.
The server provided great service throughout the evening. The food was delicious and we were not rushed between courses. It was a great birthday celebration.
Always great food and fun!
Consistent with their food and service. Menu is limited by design. I don't eat meat often so I have less choices. Mussels are very good and large.
Service was great. Food was very good. Would definately go again
Mike was our waiter and was charming, helpful and efficient.
Food and wine - and the bread of course - were thoughtfully prepared and delicious.
Such a great experience with food to match! Our waitress was very attentive and the food was one lovely dish after another. I definitely recommend the peppercorn sauce with any of their steaks and try the tart tatin- you won’t regret it.
I've been to this Mon Ami Gabi location before and was not disappointed. I brought two colleagues who had not been there before. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and attentive. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Food arrived cold. Artichoke over cooked and water logged. Onion soup 1/2 bread and cheese not browned at all.
My burger was delicious. My glass of wine was refreshing. It was a great day for an outing since I never hang out on Tuesday. Great idea for having a special burger every Tuesday. I plan to go back often.
Excellent food and service. Loved it and will definitely go again.
Everything was wonderful the food was great the wine was great. The restaurant was a little noisy but not so noisy you couldn’t hear each other talk. I think what really made the night was our server Colleen she was extremely friendly and helpful. She checked on our table many times throughout our meal and had an amazing smile the entire time. I look forward to going back soon.
Bring back the old fries!
Chocolate mouse was watery and not as rich as you'd expect (sort of Jell-O'y.
Hanger steak was great.
When I make a reservation, I expect to be seated at a good table without being first lead to a table across from busboy station. The wait staff were the surliest that I have encountered in a long time. I still left appropriate tip but certainly service was lacking.
The croque monsieur was a disappointment. Strange kind of bread, overly crispy and none too tasty. Not at all like its supposed French model. Steak was good, well-prepared.
A great bistro for "date night". We enjoyed our meals from start to finish, and the staff was beyond helpful.
Great lunch at Mon Ami today. Cream of cauliflower soup and a French Manhattan was the perfect start. Had the steak with Roquefort butter as my entree. Ordered it medium rare and it arrived with a warm pink center. Will come back again soon.
My wife and I both had the steak frites that were as usual great
We also hada bottle of a very good Medoc
Simply the Best
when we arrived, it was relatively quiet and uncrowded but it only took another 20 minutes to get humming. One thing I really like about eating here is that they always ask you if you would like to sample the wine and happy to bring another if you are not satisfied. Food is consistently excellent and service is also very professional and attentive but not intrusive. Feels like a French restaurant and tastes like one too! Recommend highly
I’m not a regular customer here but many people around em seemed to be and I see why. Lovely atmosphere, fairly acceptable noise levels and delicious food. We each chose a special—me, the scallops and my friend the tuna. We both enjoyed them. Nice selection of wines by the glass and desserts looked delicious. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Prices were on par for downtown Bethesda and the quality and experience made it well worth it.
Nice meal. Great food.
My chopped salad was not good- extremely overdressed and not a good combination of vegetables- very disappointing. My friends’s steak looked okay.
My cappuccino was brought to the table lukewarm.
The waiter was not at all attentive which was puzzling because the restaurant was not at all busy.
I will not be back.
Efficient service; excellent meal. Creme Brûlée was fabulous and not a packaged mix. Salmon with purple sweet Potatoes was outstanding!
We love their express lunch.
Thank you for the great service
I’ve been here several times and it’s always great.
A VERY GOOD STEAK HOUSE. Soup, sides and steak were excellent
Sunday morning brunch was fantastic in both the delicious food and the warm ambiance. The baked goat cheese and the chicken liver pate appetizers that we ordered to share were delicious. My steak was superbly cooked to order (medium rare, no added salt), flavorful, and tender, and they had happily fulfilled my request that they sub a mix of fancy greens for frites. The signature profiteroles are to die for. My only suggestion is that they serve profiteroles properly with both fork and spoon; it is nearly impossible to cut a profiterole on a plate without holding it still using a fork, and no restaurant guest should have to chase profiteroles around a plate using just a spoon. In fact, bring fork and spoon for every dessert, please.
Table was a bit small for four but the service was great and the food was delicious.
The remarkable thing about Mon Ami Gabi is the consistency of both food and service. It doesn't matter whether it's a busy Saturday night or a mid-week lunch, it's always perfect, and always the same very high quality. This is our favorite Bethesda restaurant and this must have been our 30th visit. Combined with a beautiful movie beforehand (Woman at War) it was splendid evening. Cannot recommend it too highly
I ordered the beef bourguignon and I was very disappointed, it was fatty and did not have much taste. I had a glass of wine that was pretty good. My husband had the french onion soup which was good. We also had the mac and cheese and brussel sprouts which were not good. I would not go back to this restaurant.
Mom Ami Gabi is our go to place for special occasions and our family have been coming here for years. Always consistently great experience from the moment we walk into the doors. One of our favourites if not THE favourite !
