Our first time back after moving out of the area. Still has great food and wonderful staff.
One of our favorite restaurants. Especially for special occasions. We went to celebrate my daughter's 17th birthday this time. The Steak Frites never miss.
Excellent prix fixe menu for lunch: great choices and great tasting food in the right portions.
All good but wanted July 14 dessert & was brought ordinary dessert. No time to change. Waiter apologized but did not take it off bill . I left it uneaten.
Totally French Bistro décor and atmosphere. High quality food, with good size servings.
Sat at bar table, less crowded but service spotty by bartender. Cocktail was great. Fried frog legs were crispy & moist inside but bouillabaisse was rather bland had better. Nothing special about the tri-flavored profiteroles.
I have been eating at Mon Ami for many years. The food is always consistently good, the service attentive and prompt, the baquettes warm and crunchy. Summer sitting outside enjoying the neighborhood walking by, winter inside the cozy dining rooms- it never disappoints.
Food was generally good. I ordered a special, the bouillabaisse for $36. It came in a pot and when the waiter opened the top, the pot was literally 1/4 full. I asked the waiter if this was a typical order and he said yes. I never send back food but did this. The manager came over and was very accommodating and brought me something else in 10 minutes.
We visited Mon Ami Gabi for the first time for our anniversary date night. We couldn’t have been happier with the food, service, ambiance, etc. We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we arrived...the way it should be. The food was delicious and our server, Jordan was amazing!! When asked for recommendations he went through each section of the menu and offer his personal favorite and the most popular dishes. He was great!! I ordered the tomato salad with salmon and my husband ordered the seafood stew, which was phenomenal!! We still can’t believe how tasty the food was. We were certainly impressed!!! We will certainly be returning!!!!
The food, as always was well prepared and presented. One small criticism is that we shared an entree (bouillabaise) and I would have preferred to have the server split the serving rather than leaving it to us (it was a little messy). One a more positive note, we were able to linger over lunch as long a we wanted, which was very nice. Mon Ami Gabi is one of my favorite lunch places.
One of my favorite restaurants. Love the onion soup. And the bread is the best in town.
Food, wine and service is always divine. My favorite girls night spot!
We loved the service!
We always love Mon Ami Gabi. The service and food is always excellent. As is the ambience. But on the night we visited, to celebrate my husband's birthday, there was a trio playing in the bar. We had made a reservation but were put at the only available table (otherwise there would be an hour wait apparently), right next to the bar. Although the music was great, no one at the table could hear anything anyone said. Everyone basically just had to sit an eat in silence. It was really disappointing and not at all the evening we expected for this special occasion.
Always a good dependable place to go. Thanks
The Express Lunch was a great value! The service was impeccable and the food tasty. I especially loved the gaspacho.
Simply outstanding food, ambiance, presentation, wine and usually service. Be forewarned - the price tag is high. Great for a special occasion.
This was a couple date which we’ve been trying to do for a while and this was wonderful! Delicious food and great menu with lots of choices!!
We like the Mon Ami near Lincoln Park in Chicago way better than this one. The service, food , etc. was fine, but not great.
We enjoyed our brunch experience - the food choices were perfect - including dessert! - our server was attentive - and the music in the background made the experience fuller.
Consistently great all around.
Second time and last time here. Had salmon salad. Salmon was full of sodium, didn’t taste freshly pan grilled as I was told it would be. Slightly over cooked. Soggy greens. Expensive $21 salad.
I can make myself a much better salmon buying same ingredients from Whole Foods.
Very old person’s crowd too, sane as last time. This wasn’t our 1st choice. Passion Fish was closed, saw this place open. Thankfully we sat outside, the only good part of our dining experience.
Steak au poivre was too thin but sauce was delicious. Wine selection was good and service was outstanding. Decent bistro meal--good for a nice meal out.
As always, the Mon Ami Gabi experience was supurb. Casual elegance, excellent service, delicious, well prepared and precented meals.
This visit was not the best we have experienced but on previous visits we were pleased. This visit our filet was overcooked and bland. Drinks were great and the service was good.
Always enjoy dining at Mon Ami Gabi- great ambiance and delicious food.
Food was excellent, waiter was attentive and helpful, however was turned off by the host. We had a reservation for an early brunch and upon arrival there was only a single person seated, so the entire dining room was empty. We were seated at a small table against the wall. When there is that low occupancy, it would be better to ask the diners if they had a preference or even provide a choice.
Sorry to say, I don't think I could recommend the restaurant. I recall it as a restaurant where you got value for money. Now, it's like any other Bethesda restaurant. Few, if any, bottles of wine for under $40.
Most important, when the bill came, we saw that we had ordered two specials at $40 a plate (the halibut). The waiter failed to tell us the price at the outset and we (foolishly) didn't ask. We never would have ordered a $40 plate in a restaurant like Mon Ami Gabi. The bill (with tip) for two adults and two kids came to more than $230!
It's one of my favorite spots. Wish there were more window tables!
As usual, the food and service were great, but the noise level made it virtually impossible to talk and be heard. That spoiled the overall experience. Wouldn’t it help to soundproof the ceiling, at least?. Maybe there are places where you can put carpeting down over the stone floor to help muffle the sound? Step one: Get a good sound engineer in to evaluate your space and make feasible and practical recommendations.
We go every month
I had the salad dujour. I didn't like the taste of the dressing. The back room isuch quieter than front room
Wait staff didn't rush us.
My own choice was gazpacho, which was outstanding and has been a favorite of mine here for years. I also ordered small order of mussels which were delicious but which were in a thickish broth that was far too rich for my taste. I was disappointed that on the menu were a lot of complicated dishes, featuring goat cheese or other cheese I did not think appropriate for the dish, and, frankly, I had trouble making my final choice after the gazpacho. Once upon a time, the restaurant had a delicious seafood crepe -- no longer, the two crepes offered are not interesting and again feature cheese. My companions chose a steak and frites platter and a burger, respectively, and they were fully satisfied by their meal. Service was efficient, unobtrusive and friendly. I am having increasing difficulty finding things on the lunch menu for the reason stated above which inhibits my desire to patronize this restaurant.
food nothing to write home about, OK but nothing more than that, service OK but no more , bus boy broke a glass behind me , inexpertly cleaned up, my self and next table consistently calling waiter back to identify more broken glass, I had roast chicken with about a gallon of mashed potato, OK but in a ridiculous oval plate that made it pretty much impossible to eat with a knife and fork
Lovely. Delicious food as always. Great service. Get the baked goat cheese.
I’ve eaten there several times and consistency is key for them. Food is the same, the pleasant staff is the same, and so is the atmosphere. I would recommend Mon Ami Gabi as a tried and true place to dine. You can’t go wrong.
We went for brunch, the cocktails were good, the steak was great, so was the Mac and cheese, but the croque monsieur was VERY DISAPPOINTING! We will go back, but definitely won't get the croque monsieur.
Very good....good food, service and ambience. It is always consistent!
