Mon Ami Gabi - Bethesda

French food at its best! Onion soup large or small you have a choice. Snails perfection. Your own loaf of French bread! Steaks delicious! Salads very fresh,
Mussels are in a delicious sauce and plump. Save room for dessert! Made in house chocolate . Yum
Last year we were there to celebrate our anniversary, there were complimentary champagne. This year they did not provide the champagne, so we were just a little disappointed. Other than that, the service, the meal, and ambiance still excellence.
Got together with friends for dinner. Been friends for 45 years
Really charming place with lots of atmosphere and warmth. You feel as if you have been transported to Paris! The service was excellent and the food delicious.
Table was in heavy traffic area. Otherwise, was very good.
Always a solid choice, M.A.G. Is the go-to when the desire is for a French-style Café with an authentic quality kitchen
The service was horrible. Twenty minutes to receive cocktails at the table after we ordered them. They were diluted and warm. The waiter was never around and stayed in the kitchen. The manager was great when I told him what had happened.
Lovely lunch birthday celebration. Noise level allowed for easy interaction among all nine of us
Our server was fantastic. We were not want for anything. And did not have to ask for refills, etc. friendly. Food was hot and delicious. It was my birthday and a profiterole and candle was presented ;-)
The middle room was so loud that we had to move to the back room.
Beef Wellington was touted as a special made with filet mignon, so I decided to get it. Well, it was not bad but it was not filet-mignon either... Too lean and chewy and too large (3+ inch in diameter); possibly a center cut or the other end of the tenderloin.
That's OK, but don't call it filet mignon.
I was too disappointed to finish it and the manager took it off the bill.
This is our upscale go to restaurant. Almost always, everything is great. Not today. Our waiter was most likely new. He just seemed awkward at doing his job. Our entrees took forever to be served. 3 out of 5 steaks came out cold. We were so ravenous that we ate our food without complaint. Our waiter had the bad habit of just disappearing from the dining room. We often had to ask others for refills or help. This happened all night. When we finished our entrees, I was ready for coffee and dessert. He gave us the menu and then disappeared fo so long that when he came back we were just plain irritated and did not order any dessert or coffee.
The food was delicious! Service was great! And even though we were a bit late for our reservations, they were able to seat us promptly.
I have already recommended Mon Ami Gabi to several people. I am not allergic but I often prefer to have gluten-free bread etc. as well as dairy-free, for example I had spinach with no cream with my salmon & it was delicious. I love having these choices!!!
Great spot on a cold night after a movie. Rapid service, good food at a reasonable price. A little loud but not the restaurants issue really
The bar is set low in Bethesda, Md, and the food at this restaurant continues this trend. The food is lackluster and not fresh. I ordered the artichoke, and it was mushy and tasteless. I asked for olive oil for my bread. A glass oil dispenser was brought to the table, but it wasn't olive oil - it was vile. The bread that they drop on the table in paper bags was stale- they should take a cue from La Piquette, they do the same thing, but their bread is somehow warm and fresh every time. But, this is a chain, and located steps from the movie theatre - I suppose that they have a captive audience. If you must go, order just a glass of wine.
Yes i would recommend! the only thing i wouldnt go for a medium well filet. they said it would be pink in the middle...all brown, couldnt even eat it. Total waste of 37 dollars. other than that it was very good.
I’ve been here twice in the past month, once for lunch and once for dinner. Lunch menu offers many more options. The crepes are to die for. The wine selection was, naturally, outstanding, and the Beaujolais was so delicious (light, refreshing) I had it again at my dinner visit. The dinner entrees were more limited, and I was slightly disappointed with the roast chicken, which was rather dry and had fewer of the accompanying vegetables than I’d hoped (lots of onions but only a trace of mushrooms). The salad was marvelous, as were the slivered carrots served as an “amuse-bouche.” I asked for a second serving of these, which was brought graciously. Service is impeccable. Ambience low key, family friendly. Wonderful French bistro food overall, in relaxed setting. Not inexpensive, though. Price matches the quality here. It’s a treat.
Fabulous food and excellent service!
I met two friends for lunch on Friday, November 22. They are much older than I am and the noise level was way too high, even for me. I really liked the food, the service was excellent, but it was difficult for us to hear one another. I had eaten at another local restaurant the week before, where the noise level was so high that my friend and I could barely hear each other talk. The food and the service are way better at Mon Ami Gabi than at this other restaurant. I particularly appreciated the fixed price lunch, which all of us ordered, since I am on a budget. The price was definitely a good value for the amount we got.
I would highly recommend the restaurant but perhaps it would be better in the future to eat at a different time, when there are fewer patrons.
We enjoy Mon Ami Gabi everytime we visit. The menu has something for everyone no matter what meal you plan to enjoy ...lunch, dinner or brunch. We are particularly partial to the trout and the hanger steak. The wine list is very good, but a little pricey. The selection of wines by the glass should satisfy most dinners. The service is always friendly and attentive. The space is pretty tightly packed with tables so the noise level can be challenging at times, especially peak dinner hours. If you are looking for a nice pleasant dining experience in Bethesda, you can't go wrong with a table at Mon Ami Gabi.
This neighborhood gem is always a good choice. Our server was kind, knowledgeable and prompt. Food was delicious, as always! Loved the fixed menu with soup/salad, entree and dessert!
Delightul luncheon - lovely waiter - excellent food. Couldn't ask for anything more!!
Perfect for the birthday celebration for the senior.
We had a reservation and were seated right away. The service and food was perfect. The location is nice too.
Tasty fare but Too pricey: $20 for grilled veggies & about the same for eggs???
Neh don wanna
Restaurant was highly recommended and the food and service were excellent. Unfortunately, in spite of reserving a table almost three weeks in advance, we were placed at a table for 4 right behind the host/hostess desk right in front of the exterior door. Since it was a cold night, cold air blew in on the table and the two sitting nearest to the door had to wear their coats while eating dinner. No one was overly concerned about our situation. Recommend that the restaurant purchase a screen to place in front of exterior door. It was my first time at the restaurant and when I went back to use the restroom, I saw it was quite large. It is a shame no one offered to relocate us.
Vegan onion soup was more like a lentil onion soup. Recommend using a cashew type vegan cheese and skip so much lentil
We were and starte with sharing a liver pate. I order a sea bass special for entree and our friend ordered the Dover sole. The sea bass was not as described by the waiter and he brought out some of what was missing but it was still not as described and I should have sent it back. The sole was disappointing as well.
MAG is consistently good with a fun vibe, good food, and a well-trained waitstaff. Always a good experience.
Great food, personal service, friendly staff, and good location all make this a great place to celebrate milestones, or just enjoy time with friends and family.
Fun, lively and an overall great experince
As always enjoyed it! I did however feel a bit rushed which was strange because it was not crowed.
Celebrated my Dad’s service in the Marine Corps for Veterans Day and the team made it very special.
Went for my birthday dinner. The restaurant seems a bit darker than the last time I visited. The filet was excellent, cooked well and the service is as usual excellent.
food at sunday brunch was very good. service was attentive and quick.
Food and service was great. Loved the ambiance and the quality of the food.
Our food came out to us very quickly, and the food was wonderful.
Terrific NY strip, with perfectly prepared fries and broccoli on the side. Combine that with a generous drink and well-made piece of salmon for my wife with a glass of Sancerre, you have a real nice Friday night. See you again soon.
