It’s been a while since the last time I came. I’m disappointed, even though they advertise remodeling, the service and ambiance has change and not for the best. It’s noisy and the waiters seem not to know for example that champagne has its own glasses. They bring the bread and butter but didn’t place small dishes next to it. Dinner was good but the restaurant has lost the charm it use to have.

It started when the manager Nestor and the other female manager on duty realized though we had 2 booths next to each other, there was no place for the infant and stroller. So they asked us to wait a few minutes while they put tables together to accommodate our partying 10 including the baby. Stellar service! Kerry, our server had only been there 3 months and was exceptionally attentive. She rocked. Overall an amazing Mothers Day. The new and improved Mon Ami is a hit and we will be back.

Visited for Mother’s Day and everything was good with two exceptions. French toast was served cold and the chef refused to make the French toast using croissants. My experience has been that great restaurant chefs will accommodate a patron’s request even when it’s not on the menu. Waiter Aidan was very pleasant and moderately attentive during our visit. We will continue to dine with Mon Ami as it’s one of our go-to dining establishments. The booth where we were seated, to the left of the host, however, does need a light above it.

Meh - the revamp looks good but one wonders about the thinking. Moving the bar makes the place a good deal noisier and if you get the table between the bathrooms and the kitchen entrance, you are guaranteed a bumpy, miserable time. The food seems about the same - a slightly update menu but the food still comes out too cool, particularly the fires. Price point seems off as well - better off upgrading to a real steak place for a few dollars more. Wine menu dead solid average but the cocktails are not up to snuff - what i assume is a house made sour mix needs an upgrade or a change of vendor. Still, it is nice to have something back in the ghosttown that is Bethesda that is not just a chain of mid-level clothing/makeup stores.

The remodeled restaurant was cavernous and so loud we were ready to leave after we were seated. Two steaks ordered medium rare came cooked medium and we had to send them back. My two other guests had to eat slowly so they weren’t finished before before we got our replacement steaks. The expanded bar makes the whole restaurant experience unappealing for the noise it created. Probably won’t return again even though in year’s past, this was our “go to” restaurant for many special occasions.

Inside, the restaurant is overcrowded and noisy. Outside, the heater didn’t work despite numerous attempts by staff to get it going. Do watch your tipping: they automatically add 3.5 percent to the bill. Food is good, however.

Too noisy-difficult to carry on a conversation. Very expensive remodeling should have included sound proofing.
