Momo's Pasta Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Momo's has been around in various locations for, what, 25 years? You don't last that long unless you are doing something right. Unpretentious, fresh, and well prepared southern Italian cuisine. Simple as that. Food fashionistas need not apply. Surprising number of meatless dishes. If you are on a low-carb/no-carb diet this is not your place. We asked that our dish be modified a wee bit with the addition of some fresh vegetables and they were happy to comply. Great value, and served up in a non-trendy atmosphere. Place was comfortably full (it was Valentine's Day) and noise level was bearable. (How delightful.)
Went in for Sunday evening dinner with five friends, as the Quadrangle is convenient, and I had great ( pasta )memories of the original Momo's on Forest Lane. Now located in the original 8'O space the venue seems a bit tired but serviceable. Service was fine - pleasant and observant - and the menu fairly comprehensive. A salad special was edible, but just barely. However, the linguini punchinella was cooked and sauced perfectly. Decent wines by the glass.
This is the best pasta I have had in Dallas. They have a great variety of dishes and I don't know of many other places with so many different pasta dishes. The calamari was also excellent.
The location is a little hidden but, once you get there, it is quite charming. I strongly recommend it. The value is also very good.
We had a lovely time at MOMO and with the nice weather, were able to sit outside
Two of our party had the chicken breast with Avocado which was the special and it was excellent I had the gnocchi with Italian sausage which was very good and the calamari appetizer is always excellent. As well the tiramisu which is our favorite desert, is superb
We went pretty early so there was only one other table. It felt kind of weird with the night music in broad daylight, but the servers were quick and kept everything refilled and got everything to us really quick. The pasta was delicious as was the bread with oil they serve with your meal.
José G., was my server. He was friendly but professional. I was glad to chat with him in Spanish. I ordered the Maccheroni Vesuviana which was plentiful (I took much of it home). I would have liked some garlic added to this dish--a personal preference. I enjoy this Momo's location as it is around the corner from Theatre 3 where I have had good experiences.
One of the best things at Momo's is the bread/olive oil with garlic before and with the meal. I could eat that combination all day long! Our server didn't check back in with us after our meal arrived and we were wanting more drinks - the only complaint I have. The food was very good as usual.
We risked a new restaurant for my best friends birthday......4 of us, and all of us raved about the food. 4 different entrees' and all very delicious. We will be back. Wonderful waiter.........
We got there early (6:30), and it was very very quiet - which is what we were looking for.......
after 7, it got quite busy.......but confirmed our decision of coming to this restaurant.
I will recommend to all I know.
when we first walked in it smelled like someone was cleaning the bathroom not like an italian restaurant that should warm your heart with its smells. My husband ordered pasta and i ordered a pizza. it was to have different meats on it ... it tasted like a pizza out of a cafeteria. The pasta was ok but it was supposed to have shrimp in it and he had to dig to find any. The music was not appealing ... it was not italian or classic it was old 70's rock.. I would not go back... it had horrible parking and I just didn't even feel safe.
Actually, inside the restaurant, it was nice. The food was very good and the cost in line with what I expected. The valet in the front, well at best it is unnecessary. For them to double the valet charge because the clock struck 9:00pm, well that is simply absurd. And our cars were literally parked in front of the door. There was no need for a valet that night and it added to the overall expense of the meal since it was an additional charge.
