Impressive! We tried eight dishes, seven were exceptional and one was great. Ambiance and service top notch too.
Our server was a little on the quiet side and could have been a bit more attentive. We ordered the wings and hamachi to start, you cannot go wrong with either as they were delicious. The hand-cut noodles with clams and our sea bass were cooked perfectly and filled us up. We ended with birthday cake for dessert from the milk bar, but it was a bit dry. Overall we had a good experience. Our card received an extra charge however, the manager was very courteous about resolving the error. We expect to dine here again.
Unfortunately, a paper towel was found in my salad.
Amazing! It was my daughter's birthday and they did a great job. They also asked about allergies and help me avoid foods that would be an issue. What a wonderful experience with delicious food and a helpful staff!
Excellent food. Service a little slow but otherwise helpful and polite staff. Noisy and constricted, tables in close proximity.
We had a great experience- encourage booking an earlier table because it clearly fills up by 7 p.m. on a weeknight. The sunflower hozon was delicious, as were the handpulled noodles. I will be back!
Cool place and excellent service! I loved that they have good vegetarian options and everything we had was lovely.
Went with two others and tried everything on the restaurant week menu and everything was delicious! Highly recommend this place.
We went there to try the restaurant week menu and it was great!
Excellent food.. the best! And very creative meals
Went during restaurant week. Food was delicious. Nice choice of menu items offered on the restaurant week menu. Service was terrific.
Excellent and interesting food in a pleasantly bright and sunny dining room. We went for restaurant week, which was an excellent value for lunch.
Great food, great service! Lunch portions were a bit small but very satisfying. The beet and cucumber appetizers were really delicious and the chicharron was spectacular! Will definitely come back!
Great time, great food, fantastic service.
Excellent food. I can't make this stuff at home. A wide variety of very good flavors.
Momofuku is an excellent location for business lunches, with an open ambient atmosphere. I often recommend Momofuku to friends.
What a delightful experience! We were seated by the windows overlooking the lighted trees in the square, the music was audible but not loud enough that you felt like you had to shout over it, and the tables were spaced out in such a way that it never felt like we were in someone else’s space (nor they in ours). The food was all deceptively simple, but memorably delicious! Highlight of the meal was definitely the kimchi potato salad!
I’m so thankful that my brother and sister-in law got my boyfriend and me a gift card to come to CCDC (and Milk Bar). We don’t go into DC very often so this was a lovely treat!
Everything in the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, from the moment the nice hostess greeted us to our amazing waiter. Billy was kind, patient, and attentive — everything you look for in a perfect waiter! The food was also amazing! Even now, days later, my boyfriend and I still rave about the bing bread. Can’t wait to come back and try the dinner menu!
(Also shout out to the super friendly staff member who was manning Milk Bar next door. They were patient when it took me a long time to decide and they heated up my cookie which was delicious!!)
Food was good, but menu seemed very limited.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful meal here on Friday. The roast chicken was unbelievable, as were the spicy (not not actually too spicy) cucumbers and roasted cauliflower. And the chocolate sesame creme brulee: yum! The only weak link was the overly sauced sweet potatoes, which could have used a lighter hand in the kitchen. Overall, a delicious experience, and we look forward to another meal at Momofuku soon! :P
My office had our holiday party here in December so I decided to come back with my husband and some friends for dinner, who had only been at the restaurant for drinks. EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. Our server was Alex and he knew the menu as if he cooked the food. We were there from 5:00 - 11:30 (yes, really), and they never made us feel uncomfortable, just kept checking to make sure we were ok. We had the sampler menu and the dishes got better as they came out. The cocktails were also very good. I can honestly say this is one of the best restaurants i've been to. Anyone who can make cucumbers taste like a delicacy is a great chef! The food was so good we are thinking of switching to this restaurant for our family Christmas dinner. All 9 of us.
We absolutely love this establishment! We've done date nights here and had a lot of fun trying new things! It was my mom's birthday and everything was positively perfect! Great spot!
The apps, cocktails, and smaller dishes were excellent. The main entrees were disappointing. Beef dishes were nothing special. The shellfish noodle dishes had sand in it. When we brought the sand issue to the attention of the chef, it was a “whatever” attitude. Quality, consistency, and customer satisfaction, on an average level, are not the chef’s priority evidently. The waiter was nice, but overwhelmed and inattentive. Manager should have stepped in to manage the situation. Was there a manager? If so, not a strong one for a Saturday night. Keep in mind, we had a large party of family friends visiting from out of town to celebrate my best friend’s 50th birthday. I chose Momofuku for its unique dishes and modern vibe. Never again.
Great location, great space, great interior design, great food, great service!
Unfortunately no dessert: cookies sold at the Milk Bar are no dessert, they are cookies!!
You could do better.
Also, double check what momo means in Indian: you may consider to change the name when you go there!
I like it anyway!
The $49 family style tasting menu is an excellent value. You get every type of dish including one or two not on the menu. We particularly loved the cold noodles with shrimp and the tri-tip which was very flavorful and cooked medium perfectly. The bread pudding dessert was a delicious finale. Excellent cocktails too; loved the bonji old fashioned!
First time at the DC location and we honestly couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate our anniversary. The food and service were wonderful! Definitely looking forward to coming back soon!
Trendy, hip restaurant in a cool part of town that is reasonably priced given the atmosphere and food quality!
We went to Momofuku for New Year's Eve Dinner. As would be expected, there was a set menu, but I was extremely impressed with the quality of the food and the service. Everything was cooked to perfection, the menu had a nice mix of proteins - chicken liver dumpling, fried chicken, BBQ'd short rib. Finally- the price was also extremely reasonable given it was NYE. We will definitely be back.
Our party of five booked for the new years eve tasting. The oyster was tasty; the chicken nuggets, were just that, chicken nuggets. Several of the short ribs were very fatty...too fatty to eat.
Service was okay, we had to nudge the staff along. They did offer a pour of sparkling wine to compensate for the food issues.
We were last here over a year ago, and the kitchen seems to have maintained some very high standards. This was “everyday dining” but by no means an ordinary meal. Selections from the Bing bread, small plates as well as land and sea were both thoughtful and tasty. The fact that the carnivores among us REALLY enjoyed the selections by our veggie friends was quite telling that Momofuku has a great touch. We don’t get to DC often, but this restaurant is now a major draw. We’ll be back.
Friendly, helpful, polite staff. Amazing fresh food. It was quiet when we dined but can imagine the noise level to reach moderate. But still a beautiful clean space.
Very disappointed and rude service...
I will not go back.
The food was so amazing.
Food was delicious and creative. Service was friendly and attentive. Will definitely return!
Exceeded our expectations!
Fun stop for lunch on a busy day! Food was filling but healthy, beverages made for a happy lunch
I'd suggest paying workers more and charging less for food so working class people can experience it. Maybe give the workers shares in the restaurant.
Momofuku is consistently delicious and elegant without being stuffy or pretentious. The hamachi tartare is an explosion of flavors and contrasting textures. Relatively simple plates such as the chickpea stew and spiced chicken are full of components which are delicious on their own, or in any combination they happen to land on your plate. Bread pudding dessert was amazing, and I’m not even a dessert person. Staff is attentive but won’t smother you. This is my personal favorite DC restaurant and it’s not even close!
I just love the efficiency
We were visiting from out of state with our two young daughters and the staff was both gracious and accommodating to dietary restrictions. The brunch was spectacular and will definitely be back when we are in DC again.
