Momiji Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I heard good things but my experience was not. I have never been so I needed time to look over the menu. There is a lot to look at along with some interesting whiskeys. I did not feel like I was not given amble time. My waitress kept coming back to see if I was ready to order even though I had told her I never been there. She made no suggestions. I ordered the Poke which was horribly salty. My sounder roll wasn't bad. I order a noodle dish with seafood. Doesn't tell you what seafood though. Guess i should have asked. I felt because i was a single diner i wasn't really important. Not sure if i'd recommend or go back.
My friends and I do our post-Christmas get together every year when everyone is back in town. Most years are wonderful, but this year we got stuck in the back next to an overly loud set of couples, and with a waitress that never seemed to be available to help us. Could barely hear each other, and ended up leaving to have cocktails somewhere else where the noise level was more tolerable. Food was good, but the environment was awful - not sure we will go back next year.
What a find. Momoji is clearly a hit, we arrived to find a line of people waiting for seats. So glad we had a reservation. We were seated promptly in the back area with a view of the beautiful garden hidden within. The menu offers an extensive selection of sushi rolls as well as traditional favorites. We started with vegetable gyoza and beef spareribs. The spareribs were a big hit, as were the rolls we ordered: 007 and green decadence. They were possibly the best sushi rolls we’ve ever had! Yakisoba, asparagus, and chicken karage were average.
My next visit I will focus on miso and sushi rolls. The staff were perfect. They were attentive and available without being intrusive. The atmosphere is clean, upscale and fresh. The noise level was perfect, allowing for easy table conversation. We were also surprised at how reasonable the prices were. We will certainly be back. This is a gem.
Disclaimer: Momiji is our favorite sushi restaurant in Seattle. But this visit was really disappointing. We were there for our annual tradition of Momiji on Boxing Day and it was a bust. The restaurant was freezing; the hostess couldn't care a whip about us or our special occasion; the 2 waitresses we encountered were nice but not particularly helpful; when we were so cold we asked if we could sit away from the window, we were told the windows were closed so we shouldn't be cold followed by a refusal to give us a booth because it's a 4-top, even though our window table was also a 4-top (upon request we were moved to the sushi counter, which is fun but not exactly intimate for our date night); and the chefs seemed uninspired = the food lacked its usual quality and freshness. Overall, a real bummer for what is typically a really special night.
I made reservations for 6:00, but they did not seat my party of 3 until 6:20. The hostess was unapologetic and grumpy. Our server was also grumpy. My friends and I were nice and not annoying, so I'm not really sure why we were treated so poorly. The food was good, but the service really detracted from the value. Maybe it was just a bad night, but I don't plan to return any time soon.
Sushi was ok. Rolls are served in a puddle of vinegar juice which makes them soggy. I've experienced this juice elsewhere so it's probably a thing. We accidentally opened the wrong door on our way out and an employee scolded us but didn't bother to show us the way to the exit.
We’ve dined at momiji a couple times before but the service this time was terrible. We had a reservation and was there less than 40 mins. The servers kept taking our plates, even while we were still eating from them. Food isn’t consistently good. We felt really rushed even though there were plenty of tables open. Will not be coming back.
Momijis is the best sush in Seattle area...simply said. And I've tried many. The decor, the service, the food-fresh, delicious, pretty but unpretentious .. everything is perfect. I've been several times, and there's never been a "dud". Highest recommendation. Nuff said.
We went to Momiji for my boyfriend's birthday and it was exactly the sushi experience we were looking for. The menu is huge and everything looked so good that we had a hard time deciding what to get! We ended up ordering two small plates, sashimi and two specialty rolls. The food was extraordinarily fresh and well crafted. The flavors are fantastic. This place is bit pricey but its well worth it for the quality and the ambiance. I would definitely go again for a special occasion.
I've been to Momiji a few times now and I am never disappointed by the sushi. It is definitely on the pricier side, so it is not somewhere I visit on a regular basis. One of my friends has a seafood allergy and was able to find plenty of vegetarian options that she greatly enjoyed. The cocktail list is extensive and very good. Highly recommend the 12th avenue special roll. Pro tip: the value is great if you go for their late night happy hour.
Probably the best sushi I’ve had! A little bit pricier but definitely worth it in freshness and deliciousness! The wait for food is the quickest! The only thing I would complain about would be that there isn’t much of a customer connection/ waiter didn’t have much personality/ conversation! And make sure you make a reservation or you will be waiting for awhile!!! But all in all one of the best restaurants!!!
The fish for the sushi was really poor quality and very fishy. I re ordered twice thinking it was just one roll but all the rolls were like that. We ended up spending over $100 on food that we barely ate - the waitress didn’t care about the feedback and didn’t think twice to ask about all the left over food.
