Momiji Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Was searching Zomato for a highly rated Japanese Restaurant and came across Momiji. What a great find it was! My boyfriend and I were spending a romantic long weekend in Seattle (we're from Vancouver, BC Canada)...Very friendly staff and the food was amazing! Thank you so much for making us feel so welcome... we'll definitely return when we're in Seattle for another romantic getaway! Thank you again to all the staff and compliments to the chef!
Service was a bit disorganized; no real intro to the restaurant , just kind of "how ya doing? What can I get ya?" Food was good and the sushi was fresh and tasty, but we really never got to entrees or house specials. As a place to have some drinks, conversation, and munch sushi and rolls, this was a fun restaurant .
Momiji was a delight. We love Japanese food and this was some of the best we've enjoyed. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, lovely courtyard, and comfortable seating. We would definitely return and recommend to friends. Loved the Hello Kitty cocktail too!
Considering all the 5 star reviews and raves, I had high expectations. The atmosphere is quite nice, as others have noted, arranged around a lovely Japanese garden in the courtyard. The service was friendly and well-timed, but more informal than expected. The food was a big disappointment. Sure, a complimentary plate of edamame is a nice touch. But the dishes we ordered were unsatisfying. The seaweed in the sunomono had a strange and very unpleasant taste reminiscent of some sort of industrial solvent. The pan-seared ling cod was too firm, and the salad served along with it was limp. The Orange Crush roll was surprisingly bland and at the same time a touch funky. The rose wine offered by the glass lacked acidity or much taste at all. We didn't stick around for dessert.
Food, value and ambiance was excellent! But hostess was clueless. Patrons were lined up out the door and she wouldn't seat us till exactly our 4:15 reservation time. Even though they just opened at 4pm?! And she did not allow us to order drink at the bar while we waited 5 minutes.
Our server was not engaging either, just dropped off our orders and picked up empty plates. We even had to stop her everytime we wanted to order more. Excellent sushi though!
This is my second time to Momiji, and the easygoing atmosphere was comfortable for my guest and I. We arrived there a few minutes before the happy hour menus were being pulled, so we were given the opportunity to still order from that menu (definitely try the spicy ginger chickenーit is a reasonably smaller portion for happy hour so you can still order plenty of other things). We later ordered the Samurai Spirit specialty roll since everything was so delicious! Overall a simple and great experience.
AMAZING - on my best food I've ever eaten list. My boyfriend and I went during their late night happy hour, which goes from 10pm - 12:30am. To start, they give you free edamame. We ordered their daily rotating roll on happy hour which was topped with a really buttery yellowtail, and then the bad boy crunch roll (only $6) which was deep fried with eel and crab topped with teriyaki and spicy mayo and was an indulgent experience of which we enjoyed every bite. We ended with their king crab sashimi, and we would recommend any of these dishes and Momiji to anyone we know!
I took a friend from out of town to Momiji and we had a terrific time. The length of the list of rolls was a little daunting, but we managed to pick two that sounded (and were) delicious. The complimentary edamame at the beginning of the meal was a nice touch, and the two rolls plus a few pieces of sushi were plenty to satisfy us. Great ambience!
Wonderful selection of cold/hot items so both my husband (loves sushi) and myself (like my food cooked) could find great items to devour. Overall menu is reasonably priced (esp for Seattle) but best bet is to book a table during happy hour (4-6) and the food is a steal.
Most seating areas look into a gorgeous garden and overall atmosphere is tranquil. Service was great and next time we travel back to Seattle this place will definitely be on our hit list.
Very good sushi that seems to focus mostly on rolls which are very unique and good. I personally would avoid any with mayo or creamy stuff as they seemed mushy.
Restaurant is not large put has a pretty loud noise level for the size of the place.
I would return.
We had a wonderful dinner here our last night in Seattle. The restaurant is beautiful - I loved all of the woodwork. The food was yummy as well. Delicious seafood gyoza, many different rolls and Albacore Tuna Tataki. Everything was so fresh. We would definitely return on our next visit.
Went to Momiji with my girlfriends for a Birthday celebration on Sunday and didn't even know about the happy hour menu that goes until 6pm. We arrived at 5:50 and our server was very prompt and allowed us to order quickly off the HH menu. The short ribs are delish, as was the sashimi sampler.
Took the girlfriend here for her birthday and we were treated phenomenally. Hostess was great, made a reservation and had zero wait time, sat us right next to the courtyard and wished the lady happy birthday. Caught the tail end of happy hour, which was a nice surprise and then buried ourselves in the chef's specials. We were then treated with a complimentary dessert at the end, tempura ice creams,so amazing! At the end of the evening, we were half way down the block when the hostess came running after us, we had left a scarf and she returned it. It was very much appreciated! Great place, loved it!
