We had a great family dinner at Mom & Dad's. Classic Italian food and a fun, beautiful atmosphere. Our server was Hailey and she was excellent.
We took a friend from out of town. She was really impressed with it all: the food, the service, and the ambiance. It really measured up to what we expect from Mom’s and Dad’s!
We went to Mom & Dad's on a Friday evening with a 7:15 p.m. reservation. Although there were several tables available in the main dining area - nicely spread out - we were led to a small room that had six tables, close together, all of which were occupied. It took a while for our server to arrive, and when she did it was as if she were doing us a favor by taking our order.
When the salads arrived - all Caesars - I asked for pepper, as there was none on the table, and expected that our server would be back with a peppermill and grate the pepper for us (as has been done before, and what one would expect from an establishment with their price points). Nope - I was presented with a pepper shaker.
Our entrees arrived and were piping hot and delicious. My son had the fettuccine alfredo with chicken, which was marvelous. The subtle hit of garlic in the alfredo sauce was terrific. My husband had the stuffed eggplant, and was very pleased. I had the chicken marsala with angel hair. The marsala sauce was rich and wine-y, and the chicken was generous and perfectly cooked. Although I asked for my angel hair on the side with marinara, my pasta sans marinara was under the chicken with the marsala. Also, there were hardly any mushrooms in this version - I counted about seven small slices.
While the food was delicious and on-point, the service and ambiance made this visit lackluster. Our server's lack of attention to detail - checking the plate before bringing it when the customer asked for the pasta and marinara on the side - along with bringing a pepper shaker and not clearing dishes make this rating low. While we dined, there was a tray with dirty dishes within our line of sight, that stayed there until we were done with our meal. No one wants to look at dirty dishes while they eat. Also, after the other diners in the room left, staff noisily turned over every table while we dined - not the atmosphere one would expect at an establishment whose entre prices average $20PP.
From start to finish, my experience is always amazing! Definitely my favorite restaurant in town. It’s perfect for date night. The food never disappoints. I had the special, Seafood Canneloni. Kyleigh always ensures we have a great time.
Enjoyed our 33 wedding anniversary dinner last night, startIng with a wish for a happy anniversary from who I imagined was the manager, our wait staff was super energetic, smiles galore, and efficient without being intrusive! Thanks for a lively evening! Oh, and the take out pizza for lunch today was yummy! Cyd Metcalfe
As usual, the food and service was excellent.
The food and service was very good. We will go back next time we are in the area.
Food was amazing and atmosphere was so nice. We enjoyed our visit!
This restaurant has been a staple in Tallahassee for a number of years . We brought friends with us on this occasion and were not only disappointed, we were bordering on embarrassment that we had even recommended it. From the very beginning with our arrival, the young lady had no idea where to place us (we had reservations), and finally asked us where we would like to sit. She seemed flustered and yet there were only two other tables currently occupied. There was a shortage of a few things we wanted to order because the ingredients were not stocked in the kitchen. Two meals were overly salted beyond palate preference. Our waiter, Garrison, was attentive and offered the replacement of a meal, but it needed to be prepared as a to go order by the time it was cooked since others in the party were almost finished.
All great. We love it. Looking forward to going back.
We were seated quickly but next to the kitchen area and the busiest area of the restaurant. It was noisy and a high traffic area. The food was good but we had to wait on our bread for a long time and had to ask for more bread when the food came out. Our waitress was didn’t seem like she wanted to be there and very unfriendly. They have you put down what the occasion is and still ask when you get there. It was our 26th wedding anniversary and chose there to celebrate it. Don’t get me wrong the food is good and we might go back and sit outside. Very disappointed because the original restaurant was great food and service.
Same classic food as the prior location, but in a more elegant setting. Service was great, unique specialty drinks, wine list was ample and I left with a full stomach and leftovers, all for a reasonable price. I will definitely be back.
We found the soup and the calamari to be almost too salty to eat
Friendly server. Reservation time was honored. Food was excellent. Two main courses and a bottle of wine came to $90.
Such friendly service- Kyleigh is AWESOME! Delicious food. Perfect family dinner :)
Enjoyed the Monday-Wednesday dinner for 2- included a bottle of house wine. My server (Shelly?) was stellar. oh my gosh the chocolate dessert-to die for-ate it all!
It was our first time eating there and it was a very pleasant dining experience. The restaurant has a very nice decor and is very charming. The menu has various items which should cover a variety of Italian cuisine. The wait staff was excellent and the food was outstanding. We plan to return, it was an excellent dining experience.
Probably due to pandemic impacts, but it was slow to get seated and served. Long time for food to come. The server was delightful and attentive, though, and went above and beyond, especially in satisfying our 4 year old. Food was very good but not superlative.
Service was rather slow but somewhat understandable as restaurant was packed. Waited quite a while for cocktails but food came in a reasonable amount of time after cocktails. Food was delicious, as always. We sat outside and had a lovely evening.
We asked for a booth more than once yet were taken to a table. Then had to say “we asked for a booth “
Annoying since open table already sent the booth request
The four of us enjoyed our delicious meal. It was great to have a potential waitress training with out lead waiter.
I visited after a recommendation from Tallahassee foodies, I was disappointed. The water was served no ice and barely cold but still managed to be the best part of the meal. The Mediterranean salad was very fresh but tasted bland, I’m guessing due to the salad dressing that had no taste. The watermelon mixer drink was so sweet I could only take a couple sips. I paid ten bucks for that and left a full glass. I ordered the spaghetti, it was served in a kid sized dish and was not worth the $17. Again, it was season-less. I really had high hopes for this because I waited quite sometime to go. On a high note, the ambiance and service were impeccable. This place is great if you require a salt free diet but I wouldn’t order the watermelon mixer if you suffer from diabetes.
The food was terrible except the curds. Everything was too salty. The veal piccata was a thick almost canned sauce. We’ll never go back.
Wonderful experience ! Our server kayleigha was awesome and attentive even though it was busy .
Although we had an amazing time the one recommendation I would make is that they offer a free dessert on anniversaries and birthdays yesterday was our anniversary and we did not get a free dessert . Still had a great time though !
Bread and salad were good. Entrée to much dough and was dry
Loved everything about our dinner and everything we ordered. Absolutely delicious! Our experienced and friendly server, David, was outstanding as well.
Wonderful server Food was decent
If you are in the Tallahassee area and love Italian, this is a great place to dine. They have call ahead reservations so you are ready to sit when you arrive. The food is awesome very tasty and large portions. You definitely will get your $$ worth and will not be disappointed. The servers were awesome as well very attentive and able to answer all our questions from the wine to the desserts. This is definitely my favorite Italian restaurant.
We were greeted by Emma who is always a pleasure to deal with and talk to! David our server was top notch! We’ve sat in his section before and he remembered us as well as our drinks! Food was great along with the service. Always a great dinner experience! Love it !! Can’t wait til next date night!
Loved every experience at mom and dads in the past. This was a little disappointing. The restaurant was extremely warm. Service was slow and the food was over salted.
Came here to celebrate my graduation. The service and food were amazing.
Amazing experience, very accommodating, and the best authentic Italian food in Tallahassee!
Food was fantastic, we ordered many appetizers as well as entree's and everything was fantastic. Great food at a reasonable price.
We always enjoy dining at Mom & Dad's. We did not realize that this was graduation weekend and that the restaurant would be packed, but we still received excellent service and the food was delicious, as usual.
Graduation dinner. We had reservation. Still got sat in the back by a party room and kitchen entrance. Server was pleasant and did well when we saw her. Wasn't busy. Apps were good. Artichokes and cheese curds especially. Entrees were just ok. Veal marsala was lacking flavor and mushrooms. Veal was very salty. Veal Piccata was better. Chicken alfredo was better than average. Overall it wasn't terrible but I would not go back.
I made reservations for my significant other and myself for his birthday, and we had a lovely evening. The food was fantastic, as always, and the staff was very sweet. Our server's name was Rosi, and she was simply the most pleasant server we could have had. She boasted a beautiful smile and positive energy. 10/10 would recommend not only Mom & Dad's, but Rosi specifically. We love it here and will be back soon! Thanks for a fabulous evening!
Asked for outside not available. When seated told there was was reservation at that table for 8:45- so does that mean hurry up, don't sit and enjoy!?
Very happy with the restaurant. Veal parmigiana and eggplant parmigiana was outstanding.
Beautiful restaurant with hole in the wall/small family restaurant.
