Molyvos has a very convenient location. Should be better.
Outstanding service but food needed more flavour. Lobster was a bit fishy tasting
Nice food but quiet and the setting was very business like
Molyvos has some amazing small plates as well as main dishes and a decent wine list and cocktail menu. We stay in the upper 50's and always go here at least one dinner during a three night stay. Traditional Greek fare that is wonderfully presented. You can tell there is attention to detail here. You should start with the Roasted pepper feta cheese. The lamb meatballs are also a great option. Great fresh fish and seafood.
The dining was truly a wonderful food experience. Still talking about our wonderful meal. Can’t wait to return
Love the food and ambiance! Service was Wonderful!
Convenient to Carnegie Hall. Menu change did not include a favorite. Portion size seemed to have gotten smaller.
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Molyvos. The restaurant was large and even with most tables occupied, it was not noisy. The service was wonderful. We stated that we had theater tickets and our server was very accommodating. The the menu was varied with many choices for small and large appetites. The food was very flavorful and delicious. I thought the prices were reasonable. I would definitely recommend this Greek restaurant for its food, ambiance and proximity to the theater district.
Very friendly staff. The food was outstanding beyond expectations. Be prepared to pay for excellence. Thank you Molyvos.
I had asked for a quiet table in the back. The first table was close to the front door, we were begrudgingly moved to a table next to a group of loud guests who seemed to have no consideration for anyone else. I go there frequently, this was unfortunate
The tables are so close together that getting in and out is extremely difficult and awkward. The servers on either side of us were extremely loud, and our own server was curt and impatient. The person who cleared the table next to us was very noisily stacking dishes and utensils right next to my ear. In short, poor training and management. Also, you must buy fish by the pound, yet my serving was 3 or 4 ounces at most. And it was not what was described. The only saving grace was the salad and desert were excellent.
Food was delicious, friend had chicken pailliard over Greek Village Salad. I had the cannelloni with lamb shank. Both were excellent. Great for a quiet lunch before matinee at City Center.
Service efficient and unobtrusive. No rushing. Quiet and good for conversation. Lovely space also.
Delicious food. Attentive service. Can be pricey for a lunch.
Always a reliable and delicious choice. I appreciate that you can hear your table mates without having to strain over loud music!!
Always a pleasure to dine here. It's a "never miss" stop for me when I'm in New York
We live in Miami and dine at Molyvos as often as we can when we visit NYC. Its location in mid-town Manhattan makes it easily accessible, and it works well for large groups at any time as well as for intimate dining. It can be counted on for consistently fine dining, from wonderful appetizers to delicious desserts, and they'll even prepare something that isn't on the menu, as they did with a dessert of Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts on Sunday. One of my favorite dishes is the octopus salad, but the grilled sardines are also hard for me not to order. I could easily eat there several times a week.
Enjoyed dinner before a show at Carnegie Hall which is just steps away. Fish was so fresh and grilled to perfection. Generous cocktails too. Try the red pepper/feta spread.
A last minute choice but a fortunate one. Service and food were spectacular.
Excellent pre-theater dinner. Fish dishes superb. Always good!
I may be skewed since we were in Greece last month, but Molyvos was only ok. The food was good, not great. I found it a bit pricy for what it was.
Excellent Greek food and the best selection of Greek wines you will find outside of Greece
A great Greek restaurant. Excellent food and service. Friendly, attentive staff.
The resurant was cold by the window the main course food was ok but the mousaka was overly seasoned with herbs. The desert was good.
Always delicious and quiet no matter the theater and Carnegie Hall crowd. Octopus is outstanding as is Seafood Pilaf! Really great service as well. And great wine -- good pour!
Best Greek restaurant in New York City metropolitan area
Enjoyed the holiday specific pumpkin hummus. But found the seafood with risotto a bit bland and small in portion for the $34.
Lovely ambiance but the service was disappointing in spite of the restaurant not being
very busy. Didn't love the Moussaka.
First time loved this place. Recommended by friends. Staff great
Lovely restaurant - atmosphere, service, menu and food.
We had $100.00 worth of Hilton gift cards I even showed hostess cards to ask if I could use we ordered three of $48.00 specials then told buy waiter we couldn’t use on specials hostess should have known business well enough to tell when ask. We then ended up paying $175.00 size of portions for cost I didn’t see the value
Had never had lunch here, only dinner, and it didn't disappoint. Both the Greek salad with chicken and the octopus salad were delicious. Wonderfully seasoned, generous portions. Will absolutely come back again, for any meal!
Less than mediocre food at high prices; we wan't return
Food is very mediocre. Ambiance is neither here nor there.
I wandered into Molyvos years ago. My husband who was attending a conference and I was left on my own for lunch. I sat at the bar and had a salad and a lovely glass of wine while people watching onto 7th ave. I have returned to Molyvos many times since. It is my “go to” restaurant for business lunches and dinners. The noise level allows for conversation. There is adequate space between tables. And the food is great. I’ll be back.
Great ambience and superb service. Our waitress Margharitha was outstanding. Very good advice to select appropriate wines. Chef was able to create a special dish not on the menu for a guest with a stomach problem.
We will be back when in NYC.
Greek food with a flair! Not just a precursor to Carnegie Hall. A great destination to truly dine!
Perfect spot if you are catching a show at Carnegie Hall. The reception is welcoming, the wait staff and helpers attentive and the food, Greek and very tasty and appealing.
The noise level was so high that we could barely hear each other.
We went for an early dinner after theater matinee and planned just to have a drink at one of the tables in front by window and then move to dining room but got so comfortable, we decided just to have dinner at that table. We had apps with drinks ( martinis, scotch on the rocks and wine.) -- grilled haloumi and also hummes. We weren't rushed at all to order our main dishes. One friend had the cannelloni, one the seafood salad, one the octopus and I had shrimp salad. We loved the food, the service, the ambience, and the whole experience. Would happily go back.
