Friends night out. The menu provides lots of options from salad to fish. The tomato salad, sea bass and watermelon and cheese dessert were great! Didn’t care for the wine selection. Perfect grappa ending.
Appetizers were good, but in the main course fish and chicken were dry
restaurant week menu very good selection and value. brought a friend and had an excellent experience across the board. absolutely will return.
Food was delicious. Service was slow, but we weren’t in a hurry and were able to have a relaxing meal and enjoy each other’s company.
Terrible service that was inattentive and unpleasant.
Outstanding food, service and ambiance. The best Greek cuisine in NYC.
Octopus was amazing as always, must have, Baklava ice cream sundae was delicious, great Greek Rose selection.
Upscale and imaginative Greek cuisine. Extensive selection of wines from Greece. Very pleasant ambiance, not to noisy. Close to theaters, Central Park and other New York City attractions.
Very tasty lamb sandwich & lamb burger. Excellent & friendly service. Pleasant atmosphere. No one rushed us.
Delightful. We all enjoyed our lunch and the occasion. Thank you.
Great place near the theater district! Loved our food especially the zuchini fritters. The inside is quiet and cozy very nice for a group or a date.
Decent food & I didn’t get OpenTable points for this reservation (I’m not sure why? I was informed via email after the reservation I would not be receiving points which was odd)..... so wasn’t really worth it in the end.
Attentive, accommodating, and warm service. I loved my fresh tomato salad. The seafood pilaf was rich and the seafood itself was tender and cooked perfectly. The halvah ice cream dessert was inventive. The phyllo dough was superbly light and crispy. I enjoyed the halvah shavings on top of the ice cream. The ice cream was fresh and pleasing, although I would've liked a little more intense flavor. The atmosphere was great for chatting. We did come very early (about 5:30pm) and sat in the front of the house, so keep that in mind. Easily accessible to public transportation.
Had a lovely lunch at the bar. Good option for restaurant week.
This is a fantastic dining experience.
The woman who welcomes you has a very nice voice. I was sitting next to her and just wanted to hear her voice. She should go singing.
The tomato salad is good. Well, I learned that salad could have no green at all and just a tomato.
The bass is very delicious. One improvement: The corn underneath is cold. I think they should come hot just like the fish.
The chocolcate cake is a must try here. Excellent, comparable to the best chocolate cake I have ever had. The only flaws that it is not the best is it is a little bit too sweet. If the sweetness go down a little bit, that would be the best chocolate cake I have ever had.
No service. Ate at a table that may have been the surface of the moon. Food was bland and after doing some math I think they double charged me for an item. Fun. D-
We get to Molyvos once a year, it's a must on a trip to NYC. I love the grilled octopus, it's the best I've ever had. Service is always great, wine list is good, only complaint is that where it's usually cozy and quiet, we were seated and then a large family party was seated right across from us, changing the intimate dynamic to a more boisterous one. Not a huge deal, but the only flaw in our quiet evening. It was still a great meal.
Went for restaurant week dinner. Very good choices, nicely presented. Friendly service. The 3 of us all
agreed we would gladly return.
I picked this off the Internet by location. It was perfect for an informal business lunch and I would definitely go again.
Very good food- restaurant week lunch menu. Good table away from others and very quiet. Service was excellent!
Absolutely wonderful meal! Everyone should go.
Restaurant Week menu was plentiful and delicious. We also ordered 1 appetizer - 3 dips (each one better than the next) with fresh veggies. Fabulous food and very attentive service.
So glad we returned to Molyvos after a long gap! We were drawn by the Restaurant Week menu and memories of their awesome pulpo salad. This dinner was excellent--the melon cucumber soup and seafood pilaf were both highlights--the pilaf was made with orzo that seems to be cooked the way rice is cooked in a risotto and it was so flavorful with a wonderful unctuous texture. Service was extremely pleasant also. We will be happy to go back!
Excellent meal with top notch service. We were there for New York's Restaurant Week, always a good time to go to the city. We were even served by a Greek waitress. I know, that's not uncommon in New York, but it does really help with the authenticity angle. Very good job.
Although there are many great restaurants in the area, we always find our way back to Molyvos when we visit NYC. The food is consistently great and the prices moderate. Service has always been first class.
The food quality has fallen precipitously since my last visit. No longer on my list.
When I’m in NYC I always eat there and tell my friends/acquaintances about Molyvos!
The negative review on service is 100% attributable to the waiter's dismissive and inattentive behavior. He apparently decided immediately after I sat down with my teen daughter that this wasn't going to be a big ticket (hence large tip) and wasn't going to put in much effort other than trying to turn over the table as fast as he could. Specifically, even before asking for a drink order, and approximately 3-4 minutes after I sat down, he came over to take our meal order. Approximately 30-40 minutes into the mean and after he realized the meal ticket would be on the higher end as I ordered wine, several appetizers, expensive entrees and dessert (tab exceeded$200) did he become noticeable more polite. The food is above average but his behavior made for a less than average night out.
It was a pleasure to return to Molyvos. The food was as outstanding as I remembered, and my family loved being there together. The atmosphere is elegant, friendly, and quiet. We enjoyed a festive evening over amazing drinks and food, with attentive and warm service.
We have liked Molyvos for years. It has always been our top choice in Greek food.
Always fabulous food and great service. It’s been a go to place for years.
Excellent quality of food. Service was okay. Seemed to be a miss understanding when to serve the grilled vegtables.
The octopus , grilled veggies and grilled peach salad were more than enough for two people.
We had left overs which one of us took home.
I would return and recommend it to friends
The best Greek food I have eaten outside Greece. The grilled fish is simply outstanding. Excellent wine list, especially for the white wines from Santorini. Good service but a tad noisy, kind of like a Greek taverna. Not a cheap place but considering the quality of the food and the location in mid-town Manhattan, it was good value. Very much recommended.
Some of the food is a bit rushed and generic, and in one case say a bit long under the lights. Overall, however, this is really one of the better Greek dining experiences in Manhattan.
Everything was delicious but the swordfish was very dry and tough.
We were in NYC for one night and this restaurant was a quick walk from our hotel. It was a great location and offered exactly what we wanted. Authentic Greek food is one of our favorites. Well done!
The food and service were excellent. In addition, Molyvos has an extensive wine list of Greek wines.
The service was impeccable. The food was beautifully displayed as well as good tasting. The wines suggested complimented the food & when I knocked over a glass of wine, it was replaced quickly & the area made "dry" quickly. The noise was less than usual as we were early & the restaurant had not filled yet. A treat. It was my husband's birthday when we combined a Broadway show with dinner.
Noise level was deafening.
outstanding food & service
great place for business meetings or romantic evenings
