After nearly 25 years of serving fine Greek food to the midtown community, we are proudly hanging up our hat on 7th Avenue and saying goodbye…. for now.
We have so many memories that we cherish serving elevated Greek cuisine and curating the largest and most extensive Greek wine list in the country. Our final service was December 31, 2021.
While we wish we could continue to share new memories with you here, our time at our current location has been cut short. The building will be undergoing a major renovation/demolition which will require us to close. While this is unfortunate, we are actively looking to secure a new location where we can create new memories together.

In the meantime continue to join the Livanos family at our two other NYC locations: Oceanaand Hudson West. Or in Westchester at City Limits Diner or Moderne Barn.
Wishing you good health,

There was a fixed New Years Eve and it was not mentioned on the reservation, bad surprise
We had a lovely last dinner of the year on the last night at the old location. Can't wait for the reopening in a new space in the spring!
Great food. Pleasant wait staff. Cozy Ambiance. Good greek food.
Best Moussaka and grape leaves.
We are looking forward to the new location! We will miss you!!
I was disappointed with the ambiance, the quality of food and the overall experience. I do not recommend.
Excellent fish and Cannolli. But sadly too overpriced. Main dishes mostly $30-$45 with out accompaniment other than rice related dish or sauce they come with. Ambience and service not that leaves of pricing. Nice open tables.
Ordering a side to have some kind of veggie $14. All a la carte- calamari very tender and good sauce accompaniment but soggy and not crispy. 2tiny scoops homemade ice cream superb but more than $12.
Food dishes regularly cleared with silverware before finished appetizer or main course- but then waited quite a long time for check.
Too late. One of the best restaurants in NYC is closing
One of our very favorite restaurants! We come here for meals every time we are in New York City. In particular, the appetizers are all good, but we like rye The sauce sampler, the grilled octopus, the grilled calamari, and the dolmades. For the entrée, we love the moussaka, the dolmades, and the agni yuvetsi, but all are delicious. For dessert this time we had the milopita, which was delicious as always. We finished off with muscat of Samos. Sally, the Papagiannakos retsina was unavailable.
The restaurant is moving, as the building it is in is going to be renovated, but there is no new address as yet.
Excellent service! Delicious food and cocktails! We had a great time!
Excellent ambiance, food and service! Not the cheapest but worth every devious bite!
Loved the saga Ali, meatballs, tzaziki, hamburger and more!
We will be back on our next trip!
The absolute best place for dinner before Carnegie Hall. The food was excellent and our waiter could not have been more helpful and friendly.
Decent average food and service with higher than normal prices.
Been here several times and each time was great. The Branzino is expertly prepared and no to be missed
Wonderful food, drink, ambiance and service!!!!
Arrived early and were seated immediately. Our waitress was very pleasant, efficient and we did not feel rushed. Our cocktails were very good. We shared the vegetable tray with 3 dips - all tasty - and a Greek Salad. We enjoyed our entrees - Moussaka, chicken, crispy cod and salmon, but they were all very small servings for the price.
Pre theatre. Molyvos is very beautiful, comfortable, quiet, elegant. Food wonderful. Our waiter very warm and helpful. We’ve always loved Molyvos, and will return!
Classic Greek dishes served by a friendly, professional staff. We enjoyed the fried zucchini, flambéed haloumi cheese, lamb shank, and black sea bass.
We have eaten here every yr we come to nyc. We found this time that the flavors were just not there, my lamb was not fall off the bone & dish not soupy. The fish was over cooked. Very disappointed especially because we brought friends with us
The maître d' could be more friendly. Her attitude when I arrived was "Whatever." Not a very welcoming message.
Lovely people (at the host stand, waiter, assistant) delicious food in a bright, friendly atmosphere. I wish it weren't quite so expensive; I would likely return more often if it were.
Truly the BEST Greek restaurant ever. I’m sad to hear the news this location will be shutting down at the end of this year. But rumor has it they’re looking for another location. Thank you Molyvos for giving New York City the best Greek food for 20 plus years.
So sorry to see this wonderful restaurant close. They will be missed. Hopefully they will reopen someplace new.
Our waiter was a little impatient but the food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for a romantic date night.
Has lost its "touch" over the years, but still solid food and great Greek wine list. If they could somehow bring back that atmosphere they had in the early 2000's it would likely see a revival of locals and foodies alike, but at the current state it will continue to be a haven for gray-haired tourists and pre/post broadway show folks.
We having been dining here for over 20 years- we go here ever time we are in the city. It is a must go to. Food, wine list, drinks, service - cant say enough about about how good it is.. If you read a bad review that person has bad taste.
Excellent option for pre-theatre dining - the space is open and expansive, particularly towards the back of the restaurant - which helped to keep the noise level down so quiet conversation was possible. This is unusual in NYC, and a welcome change. The menu listed some familiar traditional Greek fare such as moussaka, but other entrees were a twist on those standards. Appetizers - particularly the "dips" were excellent. Portions good and the service was excellent - brisk but not rushed in any way.
If you want a taste of skimpflation, go here. The portions are substantially smaller than before according to pictures of the same dish orders years before. I get that restaurants are struggling during these hard times, but I couldn't help feeling a bit exploited after dining here.
Another nice dinner at this restaurant. I had the moussaka and my partner had the salmon. The Moussaka was terrific as always and the salmon was very good. We had the almond cake which was really fine, a perfect compliment to the meal, small, not too sweet and accompanied by a delicious citrus rind and ice cream.
The tables are well spaced which is particularly welcome form both quiet conversation and Covid protocol. I recommend it.
Excellent service. Great food. Perfect location for a pre theater meal.
Had last dined there pre-pandemic but have dined there for many years. This time I found menu item I ordered below its prior standard, the waitstaff appeared to be rushing us and finally the prices were higher. Overall this experience feel short of prior ones
Last time here was a few years ago and both times have been very pleased. Nice selection on the menu, good price, clean restaurant and attentive service.
The food was very good. Lots of choice and not only Greek. The wines by the glass were Greek, and my glass of white wine was as good as any comparable white wine, f.inst. from Italy.
The service was very good, but far too rushed. The waiters did not walk, they practically ran, and it became a little distracting to have them "run" by the table.
Overall a very good experience, and being so close to Carnegie Hall, excellent choice for concert goers.
While I enjoyed the quiet atmosphere for 5pm, the food and the service, I really liked the fact that I could get a table for one. Other Mediterranean restaurants in the area did not take reservations for solo diners. They wanted to put me at the bar. I was warmly welcomed here & will definitely return.
The restaurant was very busy. It seemed also short staffed. Maybe because of the holiday. Even so I love and will miss this place.
I want to know when Molyvos relocates. It is such an easy place near City Center.
Good food close to City Center, but it was crowded and loud.
Our go-to celebration venue was very, very busy - energetic and with a constant stream of arrivals. There was a brief newspaper article that said it would be closing. I hope that instead it is able to locate somewhere in Manhattan! The menu offers a variety of reasonably priced selections, and the moussaka is a must!
Service and food were amazing. It’s a shame they will be closing at the end of the year
Good but not great. Waiter could have been a little friendlier.
We go whenever we are in NYC fir their subservient moussaka. Best ever. Hear they’re moving. Hope they stay in the neighborhood (W 57th).
