I've dined at Molyvos many times over the years, and it continues to provide a first rate experience, whether for dinner or after concert small plates, drinks, and dessert. Food, Greek wines, service and ambiance are all excellent, and suitable for entertaining guests, as I was this past weekend.
Wonderful dinner after seeing a broadway show. Food was absolutely delicious and outstanding service.
I loved how quiet the restaurant was but while the food was tasty, I left feeling hungry. That was after spending $36 dollars on 3 scallops. for a main course. I also shared a salad. The scallops were tasty, but I was still hungry, which I don't think I should be after spending $50 on food.
Quite literally the best Greek food in the city. Perfect choice.
The food was outstanding. The ambiance was great. We went for lunch during restaurant week and will for sure be back. FANTASTIC.
Always good restaurant week meal nicely done
Been here a few times over the years, and I am never disappointed. Great service, great food, and no attitude. From the minute you walk in, everyone is friendly, and seem to be happy working there. It’s refreshing.
Superb in every way....great location near Carnegie Hall.
We have been going to Molyvos for more than 15 years and it is consistently excellent.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant, food was very good, staff was exceptional.
Molyvos continues to be hands down the best Greek restaurant in NYC. It never disappoints. From the food, service, to the sommelier who recommended the most delicious Greek wine, we loved everything. My husband and I have been frequenting Molyvos since they first opened in 1997 when we lived in the city. Any opportunity we get, especially when we’re seeing a Broadway show we try to eat here. It manages to get better and better. Thank you!
The ambiance at Molyvos is splendid: quiet enough for adult conversation, beautiful calm pale green walls and mirrors, no loud music. We were excited to try the moussaka, which was rather burnt this time, alas. We thought the scallops overpriced at $36, which is about $9 per scallop, and so avoided them. The server's wine suggestions were helpful and I wish we had saved room for dessert.
We were seated at 6:00 p.m. and chose the Prixe Fixe dinner course. The service had a very good flow and we had plenty of time to be on time for 8:00 p.m. show (7-8 blocks away). The appetizers were different from the menu on the website. Both Romaine Salad and Lentil Soup were good. The salmon entrée was very plain, and needed more seasoning. On the other hand, the Seafood Pilaf was very salty. The server's recommendation for a glass of white wine was a perfect match to both seafood entrees. Two desserts; Galaktoboureko and Yogurt & Macaroons were both beautifully plated, and macaroons were so light and melted in our mouth! One regret is that tables for 2 in the front section are very tightly spaced, and it was a little uncomfortable. But we started carrying nice conversation with a couple next to us, and it made our dining experience even more enjoyable. This may be the real way of Greek Dining!
Great food. Love this place.
It was very nice
A favorite for relaxed dining with careful service, very good food. It’s usually our first stop in trips to NYC
Would not visit this restaurant again, over priced poor quality food, could tell from the waitresses attitude that she didn't want to be serving us, not a pleasant experience
Great food conveniently located near upper theater district.
Pretheater dinner. Was delicious, timely and a great way to start the evening. Will be back again soon!
Food was great. Location is very convenient. The service was very good, staff very accommodating.
Great food and decent service. Ordered a steak on New Years Eve and it was pleasantly surprising. Also, the desserts were great.
A great New Year's Eve dinner - Thank You to our Host "Dora" Wanda LOL
Food and service “over the top”
Great all around dining experience!
Food was fabulous. Loved the lamb shank and scallop dishes. Appetizers like Haloumi cheese were also terrific. Highly recommend this restaurant for great Greek food.
The grilled whole Lavraki and Tsipoura were both very good. The side order of Brussels sprouts was too large but side of asparagus was just right. Service was excellent!
Honestly, would not recommend to a friend. Expensive, bad service, and extremely okay food. Go... elsewhere.
We visited before theatre. The ambiance was very NYC and the service efficient. Our food was middle-of-the-line Greek, but the experience was lovely.
Definitelyl The Grilled Octopus Salad at lunch is fabulous. Please offer it at dinner too.
My favorite Greek restaurant in NYC. Overall a top choice
Everything was wonderful except the chocolate mousse! Fortunately I’d ordered the baklava sundae which was out of this world and generous enough to share.
The food is amazing. My Greek friend says it's the best greek food in NYC.
Great new. Quiet. Great for talking. A little over priced for what you get.
Always enjoy our experience at Molyvos‼️ The food is delicious and fresh‼️Service always great‼️ A fav‼️♥️
Our waiter was horrible and uninterested! And the food was mediocre. We have been coming every year at same time and won’t be back!
Loved the Lamb shank. Tender and melted in your mouth. Also the grilled octopus is not to be missed.
Son got engaged- impromptu celebration
Portions of grilled fish were small , risotto underneath was cold. Wine was expensive for what it was. Avra Madison is slightly more expensive but portions sizes are better and service top notch. Waiter should communicate choices or highlights better.
Molyvos has been a staple for me for years; consistently good and a great atmosphere for dining with friends, business associates, family, etc. I will say that it doesn't seem as if the menu has changed significantly (if at all) but not sure that it has to either. I always enjoy this restaurant.
What a discovery! I was looking for a “good” place to eat in this area and saw the write up about Molyvos on line. Sounded terrific, and was!!
