A bit pricey but the food is excellent. Nice atmosphere for a romantic dinner or family night out. Short ribs entree is outstanding as are the desserts. Try this classy hidden gem of a restaurant and judge for yourself.
excellent food and service
great pre theater dinner
Superb! Food was perfect and the service excellent.
Very nice Valentine’s Day meal. Delicious special fixed price menu for the occasion.
Wonderful food. Great service. Definitely will make this a favorite.
Extremely noisy space.........good food and great server.
We were promptly seated at our quiet table of choice in the rear part of the restaurant. At 6:00 pm, the restaurant was quite busy with Carnegie Hall concert-goers and others, so service was a bit slower than usual. My husband’s scallops were quite delicious, my avogolemono soup was tasty but very thin, and our taramasalata was tasty. The wine list is large and Greek, so sometimes it is a bit difficult to identify the desired wine, but overall, it is an excellent spot for pre-concert dining.
Always great. Impeccable service. Delicious food. There are so many choices; it is also a very good choice for vegetarians.
If you would like to date with someone, I would definitely recommend this place. Everything was great. 5⭐️
We hadn't been to Molyvos in about 2 years and we had always enjoyed. The restaurant was surprisingly empty at 8:45 on a Saturday night. The staff was very friendly and the service was very good. The appetizers were excellent (especially the Grilled Octopus). The entrees were uninspired. My stuffed cabbage was ok but not very flavorful and my wife's salmon was solid but lacked flavor. This surprised us. Previously, we had had memorable meals there. We feel that there are other greek restaurants that have more inspired Greek cuisine and most of them are less expensive.
Great prix fixe dinner before Carnegie right around the corner.
Definitely not as great as it used to be (we've been frequenting it for years). Not sure why, but it is now extremely noisy (not that it wasn't crowded before). Our waiter somehow managed to show attitude - we felt more like a nuisance rather than being welcome there. It also looks like they've replaced a chef and the change was not for the better (I'm looking at you, grilled octopus!) Overall, this is no longer our "go to" place.
Very good three course pre theater dining. Service was good,
The best Greek restaurant in NYC. Coincidently we were there during restaurant week. Restaurant week menu was fantastic. Great service in a beautiful setting. I strongly recommend!
Unpretentious but beautiful restaurant serving excellent and sophisticated Greek food, with an amazingly extensive Greek wine list, all with attentive and gracious service and reasonable prices for the quality in a lovely and not too noisy atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Best Greek food in Manhattan. I will go back again and again.
Excellent food, typical prices, outstanding service. The portions were more than adequate and the ambiance was relaxing. HIghly recommend.
Pre theatre and restaurant week menu. We were very pleased.
Anything you order comes out consistently high quality and authentic.
An excellent meal for Restaurant week. The salmon was perfection!
Outstanding in every way!!! The moussaka is the best I’ve ever had!
good for decades, even better now. It is a lovely place with terrific service and food.
My friend and I arrived for a 7:30 reservation and seeing the bar wide open, we opted to eat at the bar. We sat down and the bartender ignored us until we waved at her and told her that we wanted to place an order. There were literally 2 other people at the bar at the time. The bar had some food scraps on it and when she came over she completely ignored cleaning the scraps up so while we were placing our drink order I pushed the food off to the side and she watched me and didn't clean it up. After we placed our order she spent the entire time either with her back to us looking at her phone that was alongside the register or away from the bar socializing with restaurant staff. We couldn't get her attention and were finally able to order another glass of wine from a waiter that came behind the bar at one point. The food was very good. We had a whole fish, Greek salad and sautéed spinach. Everything was done to perfection. Overall excellent food but horrible service.
Would return again and again. Friendly atmosphere and good food.
Molyvos makes for a good pre-concert dinner venue. We shared a good spinach salad followed by wonderfully presented sardines for my husband and Greek meatballs with yogurt sauce for me. The sardines were great and the meatballs good. The apple pastry dessert was delicious as was the bottle of rose we had. All of this in a quiet back nook! Quite lovely.
We got a corner table across from the bar, which we liked a lot. Our server was a little slow to begin but eventually picked up the pace and was attentive the rest of our meal. We had the Restaurant Week special and everything was yummy. Wife had salad and I had the keftedes. Her main course was dolmathes and mine was the salmon. Really good. There were two dessert choices, but I don't remember what they were. However I do remember they were both delicious. All in all a very good meal. We used to come here quite often when we lived in the West Village - a bit of a schlep but well worth it. This was the first time we've been back in many moons, and it was as good as we remembered. We recommend it.
I lunched at Molyvos during Restaurant Week. The choices were great and delicious. I will certainly return and recommend family and friends.
Always reliable and delicious spot! Great midtown restaurant choice!
I've dined at Molyvos many times over the years, and it continues to provide a first rate experience, whether for dinner or after concert small plates, drinks, and dessert. Food, Greek wines, service and ambiance are all excellent, and suitable for entertaining guests, as I was this past weekend.
Wonderful dinner after seeing a broadway show. Food was absolutely delicious and outstanding service.
I loved how quiet the restaurant was but while the food was tasty, I left feeling hungry. That was after spending $36 dollars on 3 scallops. for a main course. I also shared a salad. The scallops were tasty, but I was still hungry, which I don't think I should be after spending $50 on food.
Quite literally the best Greek food in the city. Perfect choice.
The food was outstanding. The ambiance was great. We went for lunch during restaurant week and will for sure be back. FANTASTIC.
Always good restaurant week meal nicely done
Been here a few times over the years, and I am never disappointed. Great service, great food, and no attitude. From the minute you walk in, everyone is friendly, and seem to be happy working there. It’s refreshing.
Superb in every way....great location near Carnegie Hall.
We have been going to Molyvos for more than 15 years and it is consistently excellent.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant, food was very good, staff was exceptional.
Molyvos continues to be hands down the best Greek restaurant in NYC. It never disappoints. From the food, service, to the sommelier who recommended the most delicious Greek wine, we loved everything. My husband and I have been frequenting Molyvos since they first opened in 1997 when we lived in the city. Any opportunity we get, especially when we’re seeing a Broadway show we try to eat here. It manages to get better and better. Thank you!
