We had a delightful birthday lunch with great service at Molyvos. We shared a terrific Greek salad which they split for us before presentation which was a thoughful touch. We also had taramousolata caviar spread, grilled baby octopus, Greek greens and a terrific sea scallop special. I also ordered a dessert for my friends birthday which was a yummy chocolate and orange marmalade concoction that was simply out of this world. The only small negative was the pita that came with the spread got cold and tough to eat way too soon, in my opnion. All in all, it was terrific and can't wait to go back.
Perfect high quality place for perfect high quality dining! We will go back frequently!
The food was amazing , would definitely go again. Every plate was wiped clean.
It’s fine but nothing special. I expected much better food for the prices they charge. Feels like a tourist trap now
Although the food was very good, our party felt very rushed to order, l finish the meal, and pay. All in all we spend less than an hour there and would’ve appreciated more time to enjoy the company and the food
Caters to concert crowd with perfunctory and rushed service. Loud ambience. Food and presentation only fair.
We loved the Moussaka and the squash appetizer. The cocktails were super as was our waiter who was pleasant and attentive. This is a great choice for Carnegie patrons.
Food pretty good-nice presentation but a little expensive
Great for pretheater dining. Great food quality. Especially love the grilled octopus and the moussaka.
Had a late dinner after a show. The food was spectacular!! All four ladies had something different and all were very happy. Will be back!
the perfect dinner spot at any time; excellent food, menu, and service, and attentive professional staff
amazing. I am half Greek and was pleasantly surprised to have a wonderful moussaka dinner at this truly delightful restaurant. I would definitely recommend my friends to make reservations here for future dining.
The flaming cheese and Greek salad were delicious. Nice quiet place and not expensive.
The food was great! Noise level was low so easy to talk. The service was “odd”. And there were lots of people working there but it was really hard to get anybody to pay attention to us. So it was not bad per se it was just a little odd
Molyvos is one of my favorite restaurants. Service is always first-rate - warm and friendly but unobtrusive - food is consistently excellent, and the decor and ambience are superb. Also, spacious and uncrowded seating, and low noise levels - one of the few midtown restaurants where you can actually have a conversation
A group of seven, including one from Greece; all extremely pleased.
A very nice experience. The food was delicious and the service excellent. The vibe is very relaxed.
Nice restaurant! Good reception and good food.
The waitress was giving way more than she could bargain for so we ended up having to leave the table and grab someone every time we needed anything as she wasn’t able to find the time to come to the table after we placed the order.
Went early on a Sunday, nice and quiet how I like it. Food a little pricey, not bad, but wine $15 a class is pretty expensive.
We were seated in the rear of the restaurant. Not one, but two! parties of 12 were served before our meal was served (party of Two). We were ignored and out of eyesight to get service from our waiter. We won’t be back.
I have no knowledge of Greek wines but I described to my waiter what I prefer in white wines . He brought me a tasting of wine and I wasn't fond of it . He brought me a second wine and it was perfect! the chicken soup was wonderful and my sister's sea bass was delicious! I had not been feeling well earlier in the day so I did not try dessert.
I will definitely return next time I'm in New York. The crunch veggies were not only crunchy, but tasty and very beautifully presented. Dips were interesting. I'll try new ones next time.
Our waitress was fantastic.
Fabulous food. Waiter not too friendly, neither was girl who took us to table. Will return with other friends next month. Food outstanding.
I arrived for my 6:00pm reservation 15 minutes early. I checked in with the hostess and told her that, not only was I early, but my dining companion would be late. I expected to have to wait at the bar. To my delight and surprise, I was shown to a table immediately. I thought I'd order a little snack while I waited for my friend. I chose 3 spreads and raw vegetables. WOW! I ordered beet hummus, edamame pistachio spread, and the roasted red pepper spread. Each was unusual and full of flavor and the vegetables were truly fresh.
There was so much of each spread that that became my main meal. I also had delicious cooked greens. My friend had shrimp bisque and crab cake. We each had the featured wine on the wine list, as recommended my our server; both the white and red were flavorful and just right with our meal. All the wines are from Greece and I was completely ignorant about them, so welcomed the server's guidance. We enjoyed our meal leisurely and made it to our performance at City Center in time for the 8:00 performance.
Overpriced mediocre food. Disappointed for the NYC standards
Very nice dinner & service-loved the lemon chicken soup!
The food is always simply outstanding. The restaurant can be a bit noisy and the service can be a bit slow.
Great servers in terms of knowledge and professionalism.
Great Greek food the cooking took me back to Greece and the service was exceptional would highly recommend Molyvos for traditional and modern Greek food
Always a pleasure to dine at Molyvos.
Unusual choice of great Greek food. Wide range of prices. large, comfortable dining rooms. First time there. We’ll be back.
Molyvos more than lived up to our previous experience there. After-theater dinner so it was not crowded, just enough people so we weren’t lonely. The room is spacious and tables have area around them. A pleasant buzz from the bar on the side.
We especially recommend the grilled octopus on bed of puréed asparagus and arugula, the moussaka and the sesame cake topped with marmalade. The dolmades were only okay. Cabbage leaves not grape I suppose because it is winter. A very drinkable bottle of Greek red wine went perfectly.
Despina was exceptional and the food. You feel like in Agean sea all of a sudden.
We went for my mother’s 70th birthday. We needed a place that was special enough for a big occasion, but also somewhere that we could bring my 7year old daughter. Molyvos was perfect. We ordered several mezze, which were fancy enough for the grown ups, yet familiar enough (at least for a NY kid) for the 7 year old. The service was friendly yet professional. Will definitely be back.
Always a taste sensation at Molyvos. The only spot to go before a show at Carnegie Hall!
Been to Molyvos for pre-Theatre on many occasions and always enjoyed the food and service. Their Avgolemono soup is as good as it gets. Their Greek-style roasted chicken is also superb. Actually, over the years, we’ve enjoyed everything we’ve ordered there except, strangely, the Moussaka which was not to our liking. Otherwise, solid recommendation.
Food is great. Service is spotty but generally good. It does get super busy pre-theater.
