Mokomandy Ratings and Reviews
The food was good, but not spectacular. We ordered the fois gras dumplings (excellent), the spare ribs (good) and the boar bowl (good but inconsistent). The waiter was ok but he left the dirty appetizer dishes on the table after we were done with that part of the meal. We ordered a soda and the waiter brought it over with the dirty bottom of the can inside the drinking glass.
Our table was in the middle of the small-ish restaurant and it was very busy.
We will give this place another try, ordering something different and hopefully with a better table. However, I'm couldn't tell why this place seems to be so popular - it's good but not so great you have to make Saturday reservations two weeks in advance.
We have been to Mokomandy's several times and brought four friends with us this time. The menu varies but there are often favorites that remain. The hand crafted drinks are interesting and delicious. Our waitress knew the menu inside and out, editing the menu for those in the party with allergies. It's a great place for trying different but always tasty foods.
Service is very good and the food was overall good, some items were better than others. But it was quite pricey for the serving amount and what you were getting. Prices of various items is for sharing tapas style so they were small plates but the prices of the plates were equivalent almost to a price of a meal. For 2 of us including an alcoholic drink each and dessert to share it was approximately $100.
Mokomandy is our new favorite restaurant. Fantastic and creative cuisine with terrific service (esp. Laura). Our favorite is the jambalaya, but we loved everything we ate. Can't wait to be back!
Tip: You'll need reservations to sit at the table. But don't worry...if it's your first time, sit at the bar and Phil ("The Asian bartender guy") is awesome and will guide you with the popular and recommended items.
If you want something new, creative, fresh and great tasting then look no further! Mokomandy is the place. Everything we tried was excellent. All of the waiters and waitresses were extremely helpful in guiding us to what might be a good choice to try. I highly recommend this neighborhood gem.
This place never fails to deliver fantastic food. The pot roast sliders with fried steamed buns were delicious and flavorful. The orange flavored moscow mule was divine! I can't remember all the food we ordered but it was all absolutely perfect. They forgot to bring me my order of kimchi towards the end but it was no big deal. My only complaint about this place is that the tables are so close together...the venue is very small. They are so popular that you need reservations at least a week ahead of time. Might be time to move to a bigger location?? I'm a huge fan of this place. I'd definitely keep coming back again and again.
Had a wonderful dining experience as usual at Mokomandy's. We enjoyed our favorites like duck skewers and fingerling potatoes but added the foie gras dumplings for something new. Liked them so much we had to have a second order. Still miss our old favorite dessert, the fruit cobbler, and thus far there's been no suitable replacement which probably works out best for my diet. Great food and cocktails!
Food has potential, need to cut the salt but it could be great as the concept is there. The service however was absolutely horrible. Our waitress was totally unpleasant and made the experience pretty awful with her poor attitude, besides her blatantly lying to us about certain items we ordered "taking a lot of time to make" when we clearly saw them mistakenly go to another table. We also noticed the two other tables next to us had mistakes on what they were brought and it seems like everyone was comped for something on their bill! I frequent many restaurants and honestly I have not been so turned off to a restaurant because of bad service in a looooong time.
