NJ's best Indian restaurant since it opened in 1991 as rated by Zagat, Moghul serves authentic North-Indian & Punjabi food.
With a recent renovation, a new bar/wine menu (although you can still bring your own), and the same great food and service, Moghul is the best Oak Tree Road had to offer. The bi-level space can easily be partitioned off for larger groups.

Nice environment, excellent food, well-lit. Quick, pleasant service.
The food was sub-par. The shrimp Goan Curry tasted no where close to what it is supposed to and on asking for a change, it appeared as though the same curry was re-heated and reserved. I have been here before and both the food and the service have been much better. After my recent experience, I will give it a second thought about re-visiting.
Moghul is a Restaurant we have been going to for atleast 20+ years. It’s consistent, dependable and quite good. Moghul express, the catering arm of this restaurant group, is located across the street and has a busier kitchen with more causal dining. The menu there is much bigger and the food excellent. Not many places in NJ better for North Indian food. We will return ….
The food is good but the restaurant doesn’t maintain good hygiene level
The glass water jar was not washed properly;the menu was dirty and the server did not wear mask
The food didn’t even taste fresh. The fish was too salty. The shrimp was cold. Tandoori chicken had no flavor - just red food coloring.
Entrees variety for vegetarians in buffet given that I am shelling top dollar is not so great . Although I loved their samosa chaat. It was disappointing to see only fruits and carrot halwa being served at the dessert counter. Pre pandemic there were variety of options to choose from
We're excited to see their lunch buffet return, but dinner remains a highlight. The flavor, the portions, and the overall experience remains worth keeping moghul on your goto list for Indian fare. The appetizers alone can provide a tasty dinner out and the creative cocktails.
Ample space and parking. Good choice of food and beverage but a little pricey.
The food is always amazing
Went for lunch buffet, it was priced well and plenty of food choices. Definitely will return!
We had a wonderful Diwali dinner. It was good to be back.
Couldn’t find the restaurant. GPS took me to a Chili’s. Went to McDonalds instead.
The service was the worst there seems to be no coordination whatsoever. You have to almost beg to be served. I felt the whole time that I was not wanted there.
You could not eat outside if you order the buffet I found no good reason for it.
To add insult to injury, they added 20% service charge which I think it is outrageous since it is a buffet with practically no service. Frankly, even though the food they served was very tasty, for $17 dollars they could have served more meat rather than just chicken.
I don't think I will ever go back there even though I like the food very much
Always a great meal. The waiter was very helpful with his suggestions.
Interior looks dated. It looks like how it looked 30 years ago. Booths have fabric peeling, all inside looks gloomy...
The food desired more spice and less salt. Could have been much tastier.
Would recommend only for outdoor ambience and not for great food.
Food not prepared well , 4 of us went fir dinner , charged 20tip as well service charge ? Service charge not acceptable should be refunded . Food tasted below average with taste of uncooked spices .
Overall poor and not worth the price especially service charge imposed without any mention of it anywhere on website or reservation.
The best North Indian restaurant in NJ..hands down. Tried and tested over 3 decades.
Good food and ambience. Service was great. Will highly recommend to friends and family
It was an ok night the food was good and the ambiance was moderate
The entries out at room temperature, i wasn't happy, and it wasn't spicy at all.
The appetizers were great but the food was sub par. The waiter was awesome.
I have not been back to moghuls since pre-pandemic. The food is outstanding as usual. The waiters and staff wear masks. They did not take our temp as was mentioned on their website. That’s ok myself and my companion are both vaccinated. One disappointment and it’s understandable was the excellent buffet is gone. That was a great way for anyone unfamiliar with Indian food to taste a lot of the fine cuisine. I hope it makes a comeback soon. The grand buffet down the road is open so I don’t think it’s a mandate from the state. Lunch cost us $87.00. There are no lunch specials unfortunately so as much as I love this establishment I probably won’t be going much in the near future till they bring back the buffet. Please bring it back. Safely. There’s ways to do that.
Family get together outside the restaurant. Food, service, prices were all great. Music was a little too loud but lowered upon our request. Would definitely return.
Nice outdoor dining experience. Seated promptly in a nice outdoor dinning area. Food was excellent. Tandoori chicken was flavorful and tender with a great aroma and a bed of nice grilled onions. lamb roganjosh was terrific with just the right amount of spice! Breads were wonderful. Only issue a salad was automatically served w the dinner. Anemic tomatoes and cucumbers with shredded iceberg lettuce.
Moghul is as always a top choice for all dining, whether for family of business. We enjoyed our family lunch.
They used frozen vegetables when we were told its fresh cut in one of the Navratna vegetable we ordered. Amcha Kofta we ordered did not have any vegetables and just had paneer and Aam in it while the description mentioned vegetables in the menu card.
Moguls never disappoints. Food and service are excellent. Slightly more expensive than other restaurants in the area, but well worth it!
The quality and quantity of servings was very poor, as was the service.
Terrible experience, the food was terrible, it took over 45 minutes to get the appetizer and then another hour for the entrees. The naan just taste burnt.
We had an excellent dinner outdoors at Mughal . The food, service and ambiance were wonderful.
We’ve been going here for a long time. Food is always consistently excellent. Service is awesome!
Excellent delicious food. Good service.
We brought our own bottle of vintage wine. Nominal corkage charges.
This was my first real Indian meal experience. It was absolutely DELICIOUS. I told them that I wanted mild spices and it was perfect. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The food was very heavy (butter chicken and lamb in a gravy) but the flavors were fantastic. I would definitely go back again!
Great food, good portions, great service. Dog-friendly outdoor dining.
Great food, waiters are usually attentive. I would recommend.
The service was excellent. The variety of dishes made it hard to choose. We all ordered something different so we could have a little of everything. There is a wide selection to choose from. Everything was delicious, but the simplest thing, the naan bread, is what I enjoyed the most. Try the garlic naan.
Our service was (unusually) very slow (normally service is efficient), and they mixed up my order. - asked for Lamb Vindaloo snd got Chicken Vindaloo. Pointed out the light color of the meat to the waiter, he insisted it was lamb. It wasn’t. Rather than wait for a fresh lamb order, given slow speed of service, i opted to eat the chicken. It was good. - just not what was ordered
excellent food and great service . will surely go back
The food was absolutely delicious. The drinks were great and the service was fast. I’m looking forward to coming back. They follow the covid-19 rules with masks and everyone has their temperature checked at the door.
After arriving do to covid they take name phone number and temperature, we ordered samosas and peppered shrimp both were so so good! Then we shared a whole order of tandoori chicken it was so moist and flavorful in a word divine then we also got the Moghal bread basket you pick 3 we ordered the plain naan chick pea and potato all 3 were great with that we got lamb saag and a okra dish simply amazing we also hot the fried sweet balls in a sweet sauce for dessert. All in all it was a 10 absolutely love Moghal !!!!
