Moe's Cantina Wrigleyville
I had made 2 reservations for 10 people each reservation (20 in total), since January 27th. This reservation was to celebrate 3 of my friend's birthday, in total, it was going to be 20 people, for the date of March 1st, 2020.
I tried calling their phone number since that morning and the day before to confirm but there was no answer.
When I got there and mentioned my name to the person in the front, he mentioned that they have no reservation under my name, I was confused as I made both reservations a month prior to coming.
I pulled up my reservation and showed the person, and he clearly stated "Sorry, our iPad died earlier today and we probably didn't get it", I was super confused! I told him this reservation was made a month ago, you are telling me you did not check your Open Table reservations for over a month??
I asked can they accommodate us? they mentioned they only had a small section which can hold 5 people or a table in the back which held 8 people. I was not trying to be upset but COME ON!!! I mentioned the lady to show me the tables, and we passed a large table that held 12 people I asked can we get that table its empty. The lady looked like i was bothering her, when i asked can we get it. They finally were able to give us that table, and when more of the people came we pulled another table that was not being used.
I was really bothered and annoyed that not only when asked if they can accommodate us they were giving me attitude, lied about my reservation, but also if you are going to have people make reservations through Open Table, CHECK YOUR OPEN TABLE RESERVATIONS!
At the end, 23 people came and we just kept rotating sitting down, but I really hope they get their act together. I'm glad it worked out at the end, but it was very frustrating when they mentioned I had no reservation and when I was asking questions to them it was like pulling teeth.
I wouldve liked it to be more upbeat. Also, they close at 5 and kick you out
The space looks great, the menu looks good but it was pretty empty and the service was poor. Our server was nice, knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make suggestions. Unfortunately, the was the ONLY server there on a Friday night. Drinks took forever (there was one bartender) and food also took forever. The wait times for drinks and food was not her fault, but tough to recover from that. I suspect this place is super fun and better staffed when the Cubs are playing. I would not return on a non-baseball day.
Stay Away!! Booked a party of 10 3 weeks out, tried unsuccessfully 5 times to adjust reservations but no one would return phone call. Showed up Friday at 8pm place was near empty except for a wedding party and the service, host, food, drinks, and staff was horrible. This place seems to be more of a party/gathering spot catering to large overflow crowds from wriggly and not dinner destination. Around 9pm the lights were turned down and it clearly was shifting to a latin themed dance club which seamed to have a good vibe. It took over 30 minutes to pay the bill; server charged us double the bill which was just pure incompetence. I heard the downtown location is completely different and wroth going. PS margs were made form a mix and again horrendous.
Great place to go before or after a Cubs game. The rooftop is awesome! Great margs and tacos!
Good food and not super busy !!
This was a terrible experience which is unfortunate because the food was actually slightly above average. We came in at around 6 PM, an hour before the Cub game and the restaurant was surprisingly empty which should have been a clue. There were 4 of us and we ordered a round of drinks. 3 of the drinks came. We kept waiting and waiting and finally went to the gentleman by the door who chased down our server who got the drink. The drink that was forgotten was the one where we had a specific discussion about its contents. Than when we ordered, the server did not take notes and failed to successfully get the order correct causing more delays. Finally, it was my wife's birthday. I put that in my reservation and we mentioned it to our server. She said we could get a little something with a candle. It never happened. Despite all of this, the restaurant did not offer to comp anything. I won't be going back.
The atmosphere is very cool. The rooftop was great. The food was pretty spicy for someone who doesn't do much spice. Even the guac was too spicy for me and I love guac. The steak kabob was wonderful. The price was a lot for what you get. The service - very nice but inattentive and had to be requested and repeated, even though the rooftop was nearly empty. Overall - it was a beautiful day in a nice location with great sangria ... but the value for the dollar was subpar.
We sat on the rooftop with one other large group. The bartenders/server were slow to provide service and had an attitude when we went up to change an order that hadn’t been submitted yet, then two of the female bartenders scoffed at my friend.
I’ve been here many times for game day, but was very disappointed with the service this time around and especially for not being busy.
Close. To Wrigley Field. Really liked the shrimp tacos. Quesadilla was fair. Margarita was not super authentic. Price for beer was fair. Nice rooftop.
Good service and good food.
I will never come back here again. Tacos tasted like dog food and drinks had minimal alcohol in it. Worst experience. Would not recommend.
Way too loud. Could not hold a conversation because the music was wayyyy to high! Also, limited menu for a Mexican Food restaurant (and for a Moe's Cantina). Soft tacos and skewers and that's about it. They must not make their own chips because they were stale and tasted like store bought. The queso fundido and salsa were very good. Only redeeming qualities...
What a cool place. We expected to wrestle with a big crowd and be hurried. Quite the opposite. We felt at home and doted on.
Thank you for the awesome 5 star review John! We hope to see you at Moe's Wrigley soon!
Service was friendly and very accommodating. Food was yummy!
Thank you for the awesome 5 star review Grace!
I made this 10/22 back in August. I called several times to confirm my reservation but no one answered and the voicemail was not set up. I showed up early and was informed that Moe's is no longer on Open Table. I showed the manager the reservation and he repeated that Moe's is not on Open Table. I told him I understood Moe's is not now on Open Table but that I made the reservation 2 months ago and never received a cancellation email or phone call. In fact, I received a confirmation email from Open Table on 10/21. The manager said there's nothing he can do for me.
The DJ had the music so loud you could not hear anyone talk. We asked then to turn it down but our request was ignored. The decibel level was unhealthy and we will not return to Moe's
Service was super slow.
Awesome place! Great food. Loud. Hard to talk to your guests but overall great place.
We went before the Cubs game. Loved the atmosphere. Food was good, service was a little slow.
I went with a friend to grab dinner. When the lights went down and music went up, we could no longer enjoy our conversation. I'd go again, but only for a quick drink, then move along.
There is just not enough food serve for the amount they charge. We had to go eat some where else after leaving Moes bar. Defenetely it's good for a drink but not for dinner.
We arrived late due to traffic! they did manage to find us a booth. The waitstaff was really running and we placed our order for drinks and food as soon as someone stopped at out booth. It was super noisy - a lot of TVs with SPORTs showing. We almost had to body slam a waitstaff to get our check. We were in and out in 40 minutes though. enjoyed the shrimp skewers!
I was very pleased with Moe's in that they were very accommodating to my party of four. Driving here from Joliet to watch the Hawks, traffic was horrendous, it took us 2 hours to get to Chicago. It was game two of the Stanley Cup so they were very busy...I called to let them know we would be late, about 30 minutes) and they help my reservation. While there we had a great time. The food was excellent as were the drinks. We tried almost every skewer, it would be difficult to pick my favorite as they were all delicious.
The service was great(Katie), very friendly and not easy that night. This was my second visit here, both times were great.
The waitress was not very attentive. I asked her four times for water and finally received after an hour.
The restaurant was understaffed and our waitress was hardly visible. The food is served tapas style, but after 10 minutes of everyone at our table having food except one person, we were finally able to flag down someone to ask about the last order. It took at least another 15 minutes to get the final plate. I understand that it is tapas style, but waiting 25 minutes (after everyone else has their food) for the final plate to be served is not acceptable. And, the food was sub-par...who serves tortilla chips without salsa? The restaurant did comp the overlooked meal, which was appreciated.
I made a reservation through open table and it was not honored by this restaurant. I'm very dissatisfied.
This is a great spot if you're looking to get drinks and some quick dinner/apps before a night on the town.
This was my first time at Moe'. I found the food and the atmosphere perfect for a pregame party with colleagues. I recommend their meat and seafood skewers.
first, the menu on their website is completely different than what they have. the guacamole was great, the salsa was the worst I ever had, the quesadillas with "steak" was like little hard to chew turds, and the chicken in the flautas was stringy and inedible. don't waste yourtime and/or money on this place!
We met at Moe's as a group of friends looking to have dinner ad drinks before heading to a show later that night. The music was so loud we couldn't hear our waitress or better yet the person sitting across from you. I would not suggest going here if you are wanting to actually talk to the people you are with.
