Moerlein Lager House Ratings and Reviews
Table for four, outer row 2nd floor outdoor deck. Arrived after Friday Red's game start (Plan B was a later reservation we had thru OpenTable). Fantastic river view, boats gathering for Red's Friday Fireworks, Segway tour groups, Banks park, Red's home-run fireworks, etc. Nicest part is getting away from big screen TV atmosphere/noisy groups inside if you choose a relaxed conversational dinner atmosphere. Service somewhat haphazard, but good (no silverware when dinner arrived, waitress didn't recommend special as she didn't know the price-little stuff that was remedied quickly by supporting helpers). GREAT beer and drink selection, nice varied menu, best coleslaw in the city, reasonable pricing. A little slow on delivery but recommended!
We got a very poor impression when we walked in at 5:10, saw maybe three small parties waiting, more than half the tables upstairs and downstairs empty and then told there was a 45 minute wait. When we questioned the long wait we were told the empty tables were all reservations. I then go on my phone to look at your reservations and see that all times were open. I stood there and made a reservation for 5:45 and we were seated at 5:35. What's this all about?
This my first visit to the Moerlein Lager House after being recommended by many of my friends. I reserved a table on the 2nd floor patio and the table was ready when we arrived. This was important to us as we were eating before going to the Red's game so we had a timeframe in mind. The restaurant has a modern but rustic feel to it. The view is amazing and the service was just as good! Their beer list is very impressive and the staff was knowledgeable. The food was very good; I recommend the OTR Chicken. Specifically, the food came out fast and hot. I doubt we waited more than 10 minutes for our entrées. If you ever eat downtown then this place needs to be on your list of places to try!
We had 5 in our party and everyone raved about their meals. Two of us aren't real beer drinkers so our server talked us through our selections by letting us try two of the house beers. I loved the Christian Moerlein Seven Hefeweizen - a good beer for lightweights. The special that night was a barbeque sampler - very good, large portion, yummy sauce. Pork shank and pork belly were also quite tasty per our party. We shared an apple almond bread pudding dessert - the best! Can't wait to go back and dine outside.
Took out of town guest to showcase the Banks development. Chose Moerlein House because of reputation as a good restaurant. Requested and was seated at a table by the window. Wait staff and hostesses were excellent. Great views. Food good. Noise level too high. Next time would sit on second floor outside.
The food was excellent. The menu was moderately priced for an entrée, with a little bit for everyone's taste. The ribs were excellent(sauce a little on the spicy side) and my wife didn't speak for 15 minutes while she devoured the salmon. The only downfall was the seating. As noted, it was our anniversary and we requested seating for two. We were wedged between two parties of four and I had to listen to the guy next to me lick the rib sauce off his fingers for 15 minutes-not too romantic. The seating is set up for larger parties and it didn't appear there were too many intimate seating options for those special occasions. The atmosphere was great, just could have done without the uncivilized caveman eating next to me!
We had a great time at Moerlein's for my birthday. It was pretty loud in there, but frankly we had our two little ones with us, so I'm always appreciative of a little "drowning-out" noise, just in case. They also have a kids menu, btw. The biggest surprise though was how amazing the food was! We ordered a meat and cheese board with prosciutto, candied pork belly, smoked cheddar and a goat cheese fritter. And yes, it was as delicious as it sounds. My husband ordered the braised short rib and it was falling-apart tender and really flavorful. I had the squash wellington and absolutely loved it. A really beautiful and delicious vegetarian dish. Neither one of us are beer drinkers so I can't really speak to that, but we really enjoyed our meal!
Your place came highly recommended by friends. We came for dinner before the Reds game. Wonderful atmosphere, beer and food! Waiter was great! Recommended the baby back ribs. I am a big fan of ribs and frequently make my own. I could't have been happier with his choice! Without a doubt the best ribs I have ever had, including my own homemade! We came down from Dayton for the game, but found a new favorite spot for dinner. We will definitely be back. Thanks for a great experience.
Moerlein Lager House has one of the best views on the Cincinnati side of the Roebling suspension bridge. I was their on a Monday night and the bar was full so I asked to be seated in a quieter part of the restaurant. We were seated upstairs but the noise in the place was deafening an not conducive to a business conversation. The menu was excellent especially since it had vegetarian items and one of my guests (i didn't know beforehand) was vegan. Still think its a great venue, atmosphere, but don't go if you want to have a meaningful conversation
We tried Moerlein Lager House for the first time when visiting Cincinnati. Staff was extremely friendly. Food was delicious! My husband and I ordered different entrees and sides so that we could try a bigger selection and would order any of the items a second time.
Excellent location with food to match. The staff was very attentive and the menu and beer selection could easily keep you there for hours. I would recommend this to locals and those in from out of town who want to enjoy the riverfront. We had a group of 10 diners, and they all walked away with a great dining experience.
My husband and I were in town for the flying pig, we had reservations at 7:45pm but decided to walk to the restaurant early for some drinks. There was a reds game going on and the energy of the crowd outside the restaurant was pretty high. I asked if we could be seated for dinner even though we were an hour and a half early, the staff sat us immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient and did not hover. She recommended the pork shank dinner to me and it was delicious! My husband had the Moer Burger and he said it's the best burger he's ever had hands down. It was a fun and energetic environment, we enjoyed it and I loved the flying pig ale they had in tap!
We have been to this restaurant several times and were always seated upstairs. The ambiance is very nice there and the noise level is still conducive to carrying on a conversation. This time we were seated downstairs. It was so noisy, conversation was difficult and the dining experience was very unpleasant. I will never return to this restaurant if I have to be seated downstairs. The food however is excellent.
