Moerlein Lager House Ratings and Reviews
Our waitress could have been a little more attentive. Our beers were wrong. We like beer so drank what was served but wasn't what was ordered. Had she come back to ask us about another beer (before they were completely gone) we would have told her and got a second beer. Instead we just left.
Date night with wife. Sat outside on second floor. Had the caprese and slaughter house flatbreads with onion rings. A couple of beers to go with. I give everything an A plus for this particular evening. Made our night to have everything go so well. We will be back and I recommend.
We LOVE this restaurant! My son goes to Miami U in Ohio and he misses the city and water, as we are from Boston. We drive to Cincinnati and enjoy the views and food at Moerlein Lager House - it's overlooking the Ohio River. Situated right in between Reds and Bengals stadiums, its a great location as well. We enjoyed the food very much as well, and you MUST TRY the pretzels. Looking forward to my next visit! Both times we went, we had incredibly friendly table service, and appreciated that a lot. Highly recommend.
I have been to Moerlein Lager House a handful of times and have always had a decent experience. It is typically very crowded - but I have always felt that is a good sign. I reserved a table about a week in advance for 8 people. Some friends were coming in from out of town and I thought this would be the perfect place to take them! When arriving my reservations were completely ignored and we were told we could sit in the Bier Garten. I explained that we were wanting to sit in the restaurant part and had reservations and would wait for out table. This was once again ignored and I was then told to go upstairs and see if they had any available seating. We found a table for 8 and sat down. We were quickly bombarded with people asking what we were doing. When I explained we were following the downstairs hostess' instructions we were rudely shrugged off and told that they would "still take our money" as if we had done something wrong. I had not have a bad experience here before, but after seeing multiple staff's reactions and disregard, I will not be coming back or recommending it to anyone.
Everyone seemed overwhelmed the Saturday night that we visited. It seemed as if they didn’t have enough help on the floor or in the kitchen. They didn’t even have enough silverware. Our poor waiter had way too many tables to manage well.
The food was good. Unfortunately the noise was horrendous. We are a pretty easy going family and we couldn’t wait to leave. I would only visit again with a large group to watch a game.
Was seated at a table that was against a pole with an exit light above the table. The first person to come over to the table introduced herself then told us that she couldn't remember the name of our server but she would be there shortly and got us waters. We took our time with picking out a beer flight and an appetizer, which was good since it took a while before we had out server come back to take the order. We received our appetizer in a timely manner and ordered our entree. My steak was slightly under cooked but was tasty. The biggest problem we had was that it took almost 45 minutes to get our bill from the time the server took our plates and said " I'll be right back with your check". We had not had a refill on our water nor was checked on to see if we wanted more beer (which we would have both had atleast one glass of our favorite from the flight). After she cleared our plates we started talking about our plans for the rest of the evening and then noticed it had been over 20 minutes since we had seen her. We started looking for any sign of her or someone else that could help us out. After about 15 more minutes she reappears and is helping the table behind is box up their leftovers, after she was done with that we flagged her down and again asked for the bill and she commented " sorry about the wait I'll have it right out." It still took 10 minutes from then. Food tasted good, beer was excellent, but that Service was bad!
We have been to Moerlein Lager House many times. In the past, we had great food, wonderful service, and even great views, but this time was a disappointment. I made reservations on Open Table, but the ladies in front said that we had to wait an hour even though we showed up five minutes before our scheduled reservation. She gave us an option of sitting downstairs, but we were never escorted or told what to do...Just go in there and sit. We were celebrating a birthday for someone who just moved to Cincinnati and this was not exactly what I had in mind for a "Cincinnati" welcome birthday dinner. Our server was thoughtful and tried to make it work for us, but we had a bitter opening to our evening at the front desk. Not to mention, no view of the city. We were disappointed.
We had a great experience. Nice table overlooking the river and great menu options including sandwiches and burgers, more expensive entrees and even a great kids menu. The only disappointment was the guacamole dip. There were no pieces of avacado, it was almost white and was so heavily loaded with lime juice it was inedible.
Our waitress was wonderful and went above and beyond. The food and drinks were amazing as usual, however each of us left with some kind of Greene stains on our clothes from the table and chairs?? It was very strange that all of us who ate different things had grease spots on our clothes. That was upsetting. Other than that we really enjoyed our time.
Go-to spot pre-Reds games.
Great beer options. Food is generally very good. My wife loves the corn chowder and the BLT salad. I ordered poorly. I do not recommend the fish tacos nor the spatzle with mushrooms.
Service was excellent and view of the riverfront is interesting.
Moerlein's never disappoints. Their menu is always changing to offer different food selections and they have one of the widest beer selections in town. The casual downstairs bar caters to sports and post-game traffic while the second floor offers upscale dining with black linens and scenic views.
worst experience. took 5 minutes to get seated, 20 more for a server, our app was comped bc it took 30 minutes - and the portion was half of normal size (looking at other tables portions it was clear!), entree squash wellington was cold and about half of what it normally is ($17 entree). terrible!
Our favorite part (besides the beer) was our server Allison. She did an amazing job and helped us find location. Recommended the best cider I’ve ever had. (Zombie killer). She was extremely friendly. We live in the Chicago area and we will definitely be back. We appreciate the great service, food and beer. And a big congrats to our server on her engagement!!
We came before a concert and had 3 hours to kill. The location to the venue was within walking distance right on the river, and was a very clean and beautiful setting. We ordered the triple dip and a board to share and they were excellent. Our shrimp and burgers were also great. Never felt rushed or in the way and after eating could walk across to the swings over looking the river it was right in front of the Lager House.
I love the atmosphere. Sat outdoors with a beautiful view. Service was excellent. The two mixed drinks we had we very good. So many delicious sounding food options, it made it hard to choose. Food was served hot and pleasing to the eye. It was delicious. I would absolutely return and highly recommend this restaurant for a very positive experience.
Douglas, our waiter, was one of the best servers we have experienced in quite some time. When someone does their job well, and with a great attitude, it makes the dining experience much more enjoyable. I don't recall the meal price, but. I do remember a good experience and we'll be back.
