Moerlein Lager House
the banks of the Ohio River at this world-class restaurant and brewery.
Prominently situated in the dynamic Smale Riverfront Park, the Moerlein Lager House offers a guest experience unlike any other—a working microbrewery producing a full line of Moerlein craft brews, and delectable fare featuring grain spent breads, hand-carved sandwiches, and smoked rotisserie meats… foods reminiscent of those served in the city’s celebrated 19th century beer gardens.

Very nice facility. Excellent service. Great beers.
Meat and cheese board so so. Not all options available, portions seemed off. Entrees good but not quite up to expectations.
I will go back because I really do love Moerlein Lager House and the atmosphere. I just really didn't have a great visit this time.
Had reservations got a table right away. service was great it is a little pricey though. Also we were getting our brew passes stamped and even though both the lager house and tap room are advertised in the passport you must go to the tap room to get it stamped--a marketing ploy to get you to visit the tap room
Service was very slow for a Saturday afternoon. Burgers were over cooked. Pork was great, fish tacos were okay. Table of 8, the food came out in different increments. Sons salad was served after the entree. Half of another tables order was on our bill.
We always like the Moerlein House, great food and service is usually very good. A few times it was spotty, but overall pretty good. Our only complaint is in trying to reserve a large table for company birthdays, retirement parties, etc. NO ONE picks up the telephone. We called 5 times over the past couple of weeks, leave messages that no one returns. I finally booked a table online, but their website only allows a table for up to 10 people. So I booked it for 10 people (the max it allows) and left a note on the rez form to call me as the table needed was actually for 16 people. 3 days went by without a call so I again called direct only again to receive a voicemail telling me to leave a message and someone would get back within 24 hours. It is very frustrating of late and used to be easy, you call, you book a table. Recently, can't get anyone to answer the phone, let alone return a call.
We love the setting over look in the Ohio River and the wide open spaces. The food is good but I was disappointed when the waitress suggested the appetizer sampler which was not even listed on the menu. A variety of ribs fried vegetables hot wings and such. Shame on me for not asking the price upfront but she did not disclose it and we were shocked that The bill was $55 for the sampler. Probably a good value at $25 max. In addition I ordered the salmon salad which was smoked and The bill was $55 for the sampler. Probably a good value at $25 max. In addition I ordered the salmon salad which was smoked And our server asked if I wanted that grilled. I said yes and that was an additional five dollar up charge that was not disclosed. Overall we had a nice evening with the bill was a shocker and I will think twice about returning
A go to restaurant before Bengals games. This time we were meeting our son-in-law and grandson. Can't say enough about how great our server treated our grandson (10 yrs. old)
Fish and chips are good but way to big a portion. Knowing that, I brought along an iced insulated bag to take home leftovers. Today, I'll get my second lunch!
I always like the spicy corn chowder. But, once again my gin and tonic was flat. I told our server about my long history with this restaurant, and others to be honest, that serve flat tonic. It appeared when it came out that it indeed had bubbles, but alas, after one taste--flat!! Our server was so nice and accommodating, I didn't have the heart to send my drink back this time. Would have enjoyed my meal more with a proper drink.
Sunday brunch was delicious! Service and atmosphere was amazing looking over the river.
We came for a special occasion and were met with unexpected traffic and full parking lots due to a concert at the baseball stadium. The wait staff was accommodating when I phoned them to let them know that we would not arrive at our exact reservation time due to having to park farther away. This was very much appreciated. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees that were all very good (both of our entrees were the same as what we had ordered on a prior visit) as always.
Reservations were for 6pm. Finally got seated at 7pm. Frustrating.
We had theater tickets and therefore made a reservation. Upon arrival we were told we were told we would need to wait to be seated. After waiting 20 minutes we inquired about our reservation and were told we were 13th on the list and they were running a hour or more behind. I understand it was a busy night but that is the point of a reservation. We have season tickets to the Arnoff and have never had to wait to be seated more than 10 minutes at any other restaurant we made a reservation at. We ended up leaving and getting no dinner before the show. I understand it was crazy busy, but you plan accordingly. At a minimum we should have been told upon arrival that there would be a substantial wait and that our reservation was useless. I would not ever choose this restaurant again.
We went on the night of a concert at Great American Ball Park and the weather did not help the occasion. We had reservations for 5:30 but didn't get seated until 6:15. The problem was the pouring down rain and no one leaving the restaurant. We had 2 seats at the bar and were able to get our first round of beers pretty quickly but it took about 25 minutes to get the bartenders to acknowledge we were there. The food was pretty good but the overall experience was a little lacking.
Had reservation for 5:15 on night of concert at GABP, and we were seated right on time! Friendly waitress, and good food!
The restaurant was very crowded before a concert, and became even more crowded when it started to rain but we were seated on time and our server was great. Our food came out in a timely manner and he was working hard to get drinks and make sure we had what we needed. We appreciated his hard work! Thanks for a great time!
Love the food and the location. The interior has hard surfaces that do nothing to dampen the noise level. I could not hear the person next to me speak at my table. Left with my ears ringing and will have second thoughts of going there to eat if you want to talk. Great for bar bad for restaurant. Fix the noise level please.
I like the moerlein house. the food and the view are very good. when I was their Saturday evening, the place was over packed with people. the noise level was over the top. our waitress was very good is spite of the place. her name was Lindsey.
Tiffany did a great job! It was very crowded because of a concert, but great food. (Although a couple things came out wrong) staff fixed it or comped it. Great birthday dinner!
Picked this restaurant because we had enjoyed the food and view before. But we will never go on a summer weekend. Paying $20 to park to eat lunch is a rip off. Would have left but we agreed to meet friends. Seated promptly but at 1:30 they brought the dinner vs lunch menu and seemed insulted when I asked for one. Brought the food and verified taste ok. But then disappeared. Could have used a water refill. The food was good and the Ability to talk with friends without a lot of background noise was great. But will never go again on weekends.
Food was great! But our waitress was the worst I ever encountered! Took order brought drinks and food and never saw her again! Had to even ask for our check! Overall horrible experience!!!
Very disappointed in the quality of the food. Treated like it had been sitting around for hours. Not at all fresh.
Beer was good, waitress was nice, atmosphere was good.
To bad the food was so poor
Good was amazing, waitress was on top of it. Nice beer selection . easy to get to
We ate outside with a great view of the river and park
service was usually slow, but our waiter did his best to keep things going
The food was tasty overall and our drinks were great. The blackbean burger was messy causing me to give up on it 1/2 of the way through but my spaetzle side dish was perfect. I thought this was the best place to grab a meal before heading to a Reds game.
Great place to eat outside and enjoy the company of others! Amazing beer menu
The short rib grilled cheese and sweet potato chips were both incredible. Be sure to try it if you go to Moerlein Lager House!
overall, the food was pretty good. My order was confused by the waitress, but it worked out. My wife didn't necessarily like the flavor profile of the short ribs. My son however liked the pulled pork barbecue very much and both he and my wife liked the soup very well, also. I got a wedge salad that was pretty good but the waitress misinterpreted that I wanted barbecue chicken served with a salad when what I wanted was the barbecued chicken dinner and a wedge salad.
Good atmosphere, food is good but expensive, service is good, was a nice place for a lunch date, dinner menu is better!
Food is amazing and portions are very large. The pork belly poutine is awesome and the fish tacos are some of the best I’ve ever eaten.
Service was great- food was delicious! Our open table reservation helped our party of 11 get right in. The fish and chips was so good!
Great place to go before a Reds game. We split a few appetizers and an entree and the staff brought them on separate plates and we really appreciated that!
Waitress was weak - didn’t know the beers.
Out of all of the beers they serve, we actually selected three that they no longer carried - then take them off the beer list!
Excellent food, competent service, but I would have given it 5 stars if the lunch seating outside was open with views of the river. That was the main reason why we selected Moerlein
We had family in from out of town and had eaten here before.
The service was great.
The only problem was we had ordered three orders of prime rib,
and a half hour had passed before we were notified that they were out.
Great service and server!
Great location next to the ballpark and overlooking the river.
Always a great place to eat and ready for a Reds game. Good beer and food selection with a nice view of the river. Service was excellent. The only negative is once a few people start filling up the place the noise level is extreme to the point you can't hear conversations across the table.
All of us had fish and chips. Very tasty and the tartar sauce is great.
We had great drinks, food, conversation and the sweetest server! It set the tone for a great evening
Food was cold. Service was slow. They were busy due to the ballgame but that’s why we were there. Very disappointed.
