Moerlein Lager House
the banks of the Ohio River at this world-class restaurant and brewery.
Prominently situated in the dynamic Smale Riverfront Park, the Moerlein Lager House offers a guest experience unlike any other—a working microbrewery producing a full line of Moerlein craft brews, and delectable fare featuring grain spent breads, hand-carved sandwiches, and smoked rotisserie meats… foods reminiscent of those served in the city’s celebrated 19th century beer gardens.

Super friendly and helpful -- one diner had food allergy (dairy) and they were terrific about checking and making sure nothing was problematic. Thank you!
The service and food was outstanding! I was very thankful that there was a variety of different food choices. I’m a vegetarian, and the balsamic crunchy tofu entree was delicious! I would definately recommend it to others that prefer a vegetarian diet! However, my father, a true carnivore, loved his food as well! The beer was also outstanding! I will definitely recommend this restauraunt to others!
The service was great and it had such a fun atmosphere. A little sad the UC basketball game was only on for a minute.
I went to Morelein house a few weeks ago for the first time and had a great experience. However, when we returned for a friends birthday party it was anything but. We arrived right on time for our reservation (8PM). I checked in with the very much less than friendly hostess, and let know that our group was there. She informed me the table was not ready, and she would let me know when it was. My friends and I sat down in the waiting area not more than 10 feet from this same hostess. I received a text message from the OpenTable app letting me know that our table was ready, and to check-in with the hostess. However, as I had already done so I ignored this message, because any logical thinking person would assume that the hostess I had JUST spoken with could simply walk over and let me know if the table was ready. Instead, I finally got up and checked on the status of our table after 15 minutes, to which the still less than friendly waitress responded "well we sent you a text". I was a little taken aback in her respnse, as she could CLEARLY see that I was 10 feet from her, and could have professionally walked over to me, but instead chose the tacky road.
Then once we get to the dinner portion of our visit we wait approximately 10 minuites before being addressed by our waiter, who then shamelessly and creepily began flirting with a member of our group, making her incredibly uncomfortable to the point that she couldn't enjoy her dinner.
For the prices you pay at this place I would expect MUCH more professionalism than what I experienced last Saturday. I absolutely will not be back, nor will I recommend this place to anyone.
The food is good! The short rib grilled cheese is fantastic, as are the parmesan fries. Beer and selection is good, although about 3 that we asked for were out. Our table ordered shots, and we were a little surprised to find that they were $10 a shot, LOL. Not cool, Moerlin! Our server was so great though. You also can't beat the scenery/view. Will be back!
First time. Real nice place. Fun. Great food service and views. Filet amazing. Angry Mac too!
Everything was delicious!
Food was great except for the wait.
Went after a matinee and the theater. Dinner was so much better than the show!!! Great view of the Ohio river at dusk. They have a lot of varied food choices. Filet is always good, as is the salmon and chicken. Upstairs is a less of a bar and more of a dining room. So, you really have your choice of atmosphere here. Service was good from start to finish. Surely will be back.
Accommodated a group of 6 very well. Food all came out right and together and was well prepared and delicious. Good beer selection.
Everything was excellent the sirloin was great and the short rib was fantastic also our server was wonderful!
I had a reservation for a graduation celebration for nine people. Two in our party canceled the day before but on the day of graduation they we’re actually able to attend. I called the restaurant to add the two people back in and was told I could not add anyone. I explained that I had updated my reservation too soon and that I could not un-invite our guests to lunch and she said I would have to do just that because they would not accommodate an additional two people to our party of six. Aside from that being very rude, we did keep the reservation for six and for the two hours we were at Moerlein’s there were two tables of four near us that sat empty the entire time. Intolerable and unsympathetic customer service! This was a special day that should have been celebrated by those invited. So sad, so disappointing and very slow service to boot!
Normally love Moerlein House, but were seated next to a large group of very drunk late twenties males. They were very loud and used profane language. All the families seated around us were uncomfortable. The servers seemed to turn a blind eye to the situation.
We sat next to a table who had a drunken customer. He continued to scream out. The noise level was so loud that we could not talk to our friends across the table from us. The food was fine, but I would think twice about going back. I was very disappointed.
Great service good food
My mom and sisters and I had a nicest server and she was quick to get our food out since we had to be at the aronoff. The meals were delicious and we had a mix of appetizers, soups, salads, and entrees. The Salmon Oscar will be a new fave for sure.
Great steak and lager! Can’t beat it! Affordable and great service both times we have gone!
Made reservations for brunch, great food, creative choices! Great location and convenient parking.
Stopped by for dinner Saturday. Fabulous time! Food was delicious as was the beer. The service was outstanding - we were treated so well. It made our night! Best part was the beautiful view of Cincinnati’s skyline.
Great service. Enjoyed the food and relaxed atmosphere.
I love going to Moerlein House, but 3 of the 4 of us were disappointed with our meals. I got the Chicken Applewood bacon melt sandwich. There is just something "not right" about the chicken. It's either cut funny or it all dark meat or something. Two friends got different versions of a flat bread with chicken. One pulled off ALL of the chicken and said it was horrible. The other friend ordered Buffalo Chicken flatbread and said it was totally bland - no kick at all (not buffalo at all). Even the fries are different now. Instead of the shoestring garlic parmesan fries, they have these larger "breaded type" fries that the fast food places serve. I should have gone with my gut and gotten the same thing (safe thing) I always get which is the short rib grilled cheese sandwich. If you go there, avoid anything "chicken."
Perfect place fir brunch prior to the Bengals game. Service was outstanding. Views are amazing. Great beer menu. Brunch was delicious.
Our server Kaitlin was fabulous!!!! My husband said his steak was amazing!
Short ribs are amazing!
Great location, fun vibe down by the riverfront of downtown Cincy. Very good food, very good beers.
Good service but this place is usually packed most weekend nights. Table for 8 was ready when requested. Staff was nice.
Our server Zach was unbelievable! He was knowledgeable and very attentive.
Great view, great food, great service!
Team holiday dinner
Great food! Great restaurant! Loved watching the river!
We dined with friends before the Bengals game. Service was friendly and efficient. Hostess allowed us to make adjustments to our orders. Server checked often, but not obtrusively.
Enjoyed the Bloody Mary Make-it-yourself Bar. Food was well portioned--actually a bit large--and well prepared.
We were celebrating my father in laws birthday and was placed next to a group of 16. They were very large and obnoxious to say the least. My in-laws were visiting from Tennessee and had always wanted to try Morlein Lager House.
The food was very good. The server was nice. The service was a bit slow, which was surprising because they weren’t that busy when we arrived. But all in all it was a great experience. The best part was that you got my sons burger correct the very first time! It’s so simple, it’s a plain cheeseburger with just a touch of pink. I can’t tell you how many restaurants can’t manage that on the first attempt. Yours was perfect on the first attempt! My Fish tacos were delicious, possibly the best I’ve ever had. My brother and sister-in-law had come down from north of Dayton and that was the first time and they came to your restaurant. They were quite pleased. Thank you for a great experience!
The online reservation process was quick and efficient. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately. There are lots of windows which make for a new view but also brings a lot of heat from the sun. The room was a little warm. Every time that I have been here it has been very loud which makes it difficult to hear each other at our table talk. I am not sure about the upstairs dining area. The food is great and the portions are ample. The Moer burger was very good, as was the huge salmon salad, and I love the Angry Mac-n-cheese which they added shrimp to so I could have it as a entree. I like all of the Moerlein line of beers.
Lovely view and terrific choices of beer including beer flights so we could evaluate and then pick what we wanted to drink. All of us had outstanding food. The service was informed and helpful in identifying choices for each of us. The restaurant is beautiful but all the hard surfaces combine to make it super loud. I would not take anyone here that has a hearing impairment because it is hard to hear across the table due to noise that is generated far away. Something is wrong acoustically. We walked along the riverfront and on the serpentine wall after dinner. Parking is very convenient right under the restaurant. There is a fancier restaurant upstairs appears to be one operation and maybe it is quieter up there. What a great place to spend an evening.
Great view of the Roebling Bridge, good food, and great service. We had an enjoyable evening.
Took family to dinner before the tree lighting downtown, was quite surprised that the restaurant wasn’t full. Once we sat down and ordered drinks/food, I realized why. The server did his best but the bar was very slow and the food was not good at all. $125.00 check for bad/cold food is not ok for me. Not sure we will be back and don’t think I’ll recommend anyone to go there. Quite disappointed.
The best part was the ravioli special. It was delicious! Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and helpful. We have been here before and we will be returning.
Birthday for my sister. Service was good. Nice location
Was able to secure a reservation with no problem. Was seated timely. Great service and atmosphere. Nice price and good food selection. Brought my daughter and friends for her 17th birthday. Good choice.
