Moerlein Lager House
the banks of the Ohio River at this world-class restaurant and brewery.
Prominently situated in the dynamic Smale Riverfront Park, the Moerlein Lager House offers a guest experience unlike any other—a working microbrewery producing a full line of Moerlein craft brews, and delectable fare featuring grain spent breads, hand-carved sandwiches, and smoked rotisserie meats… foods reminiscent of those served in the city’s celebrated 19th century beer gardens.

The menu needs a reboot. Service is mediocre at best and the last couple times I have been there the table was poorly cleaned.
Also the AC wasn’t working good. Was not comfortable and I mentioned it to our server and he didn’t seem to care. Said it was because of the doors constantly being opened to the outdoor seating area.
Will not be going there to eat anymore. Maybe for drinks and a appetizer but not for a meal.
Food was sub par and cold. Table ordered 2 nashville hot sandwiches, a smothered chicken, and a chicken samdwich. All four plates we luke warm at best. Very dissapointed.
Great food, great service, great view. Very expensive for a plain hamburger and fries/coleslaw.
Birthday celebration. Food was good. Service was great!
The issue with the service not the servers fault, she was very good. However it took 40 minutes to get food for 9 people. That was just not good. Will probably think twice before taking a group back for lunch.
Loved the food and the view, but the service was slow at times and our waitress was quite forgetful - she brought wine but not glasses, and we had to ask 3 times for water. We love coming here and want to believe the service this time around was an anomaly.
Great service and great food!!
I made a reservation days in advance and requested a table with a river view/ hear the windows because we were dining with friends who had never been to Moerlein Lager House. Instead, we were seated near the staircase in the center of the restaurant. No view. It seemed crowded so we didn't request a table change. The food was fine but not exceptional. The menu is not expansive and is pricey, which would have been OK if we were at a table with a view, as requested. We did see upon leaving that there were several open tables near the windows.
Server was excellent and attentive. The bar was a bit slow with our drinks and some of the drinks arrived after the food. Also, a few meals were just warm. However, Moerlein will continue to be one of our favorite places to dine in Cincinnati.
Food was great. The noise level is pretty high. You almost have to yell at one another at a table of 4 people.
Filet was over cooked but the manager was kind enough to serve us another one plus he competed the price which we appreciated. In spite of this issue we definitely would go back. The atmosphere was exciting.
Have been to Moerlein several times before. Not sure if they were under staffed or what, but things could have been a lot better.
The food and service was excellent. What brings the enjoyment and value down is the noise level--it is painfully loud. The manager did lower the music (blaring) at our request which we were thankful for. Unfortunately the construction of hard surfaces and glass makes the restaurant an echo chamber. We would go back for the food and service but not with the noise level.
Our waiter - Jackson was excellent and made our celebration special. Food was great especially shrimp & cauliflower appetizers- outstanding! Great view in a festive area of town.
Absolutely loved it! This was the first time I had been and we went after the Red's game. I used open table to make a reservation at the end of the game and walked there and was seated right away. The MoerBurger is the best hamburger I've ever had! They need to expand to Columbus. I would eat there every week!
Our server was friendly and prompt. Have us everything we needed and the space to just enjoy each other’s company
Took my kids there before Reds game. They loved it!!!!
We had an absolutely wonderful brunch while watching the Women's World Cup Finals at the Lager House. The braised short rib biscuit is fantastic!
Went after a Reds game with out of town guests. Very load and uncomfortably warm inside. We were all sweating by the time we finished. Waited forever for some of our drinks. They were out of the beer and entree one of us ordered. Mgr apologized. Food was mediocre at best. No one in our group had anything stellar to say about their dinner. Wished they had some cold options available like wraps or sandwiches. One of us ordered steak fritz and it was tough as nails. One and done for us.
Great beer and food!
Perfect before Reds game. Reservations recommended.
Food was great! The proportions were a bit overwhelming. The fried pickle and pepper appetizer we enough to be an entree.
Upon arrival I found staff to be accommodating and not friendly. I had reservations end requested outside seating.,,denied but watched as the couple behind was given the seats. It was very warm in the dining room and incredibly noisy. Overall not a good experience which I have had in the past.
The place is always loud before a Reds game. Didn't also expect the A/C to be out on a 90°F day to boot. Ugh...
Plates and table was dirty when we sat down
the menu is very limited compared to the way it used to be
Server was very sweet and did her best but the food took forever and so did the adult cocktails.
The food quality and service are consistently excellent.
I will start by saying I would consider giving them another chance... The evening started with a ten minute wait before we were greeted by our server. The restaurant was 2/3 empty. Another ten minute before we had our first beverage. The appetizer was delivered in a timely manner and was quite good. I enjoy fried pickles, but the fried Anaheim peppers were unique and had a great flavor. We had to engage a manager to find out when to expect our dinner selections as we had been seated for just over 60 minutes. Upon arrival the selections we just OK. The steak was decent. The salmon oscar not so much. The crab had a poor taste and the salmon was overcooked. I will say that the manager made it right by us due to the extensive wait, hence the first line of the review. I might give them another chance.
Second time visiting - quick service - good food - great atmosphere! Go Reds!
Moerlein house is and will always be the perfect spot for a night out with friends, a special occasion, or pregame meals before a Reds game. Great food, great beer, great service!
The drinks, pretzels, fried pickles were outstanding...and then it went downhill. Entrees were late and just warm. It took forever to get the bill, and our waiter seemed to disappear half way through the meal. We are from out of town, so won't be back(you can guess the real reason!)
One of my favorites restaurants in Ohio! We will definitely be back!
Super-busy lunch hour directly before a Reds game, but you wouldn’t know it other than the packed house. Service was on-point and very attentive - two other people in addition to our waitress.
I ordered the short rib grilled cheese, which I’ve had in many other places of “high class pub grub.” This one was the best I’ve ever had. My wife’s cod sandwich was also brought to the next level by an artichoke-based tartar sauce. Kid’s menu items were plentiful.
And to top it all off, their beer selection is vast and delicious. Make a reservation as a pre-game meal. You won’t be disappointed!
The food and beer were excellent and our waitress was wonderful. I love the ambiance and will continue to visit when in town for Cubs-Reds games.
Cubs were in town, so travelled to see the weekend series. Dinner after the Saturday afternoon game. Good beer, good food.
European guests for dinner.
Our server was fantastic. Food was ok but not as great as the open table reviews would have us believe. Very average fare.
We went to the Moerlein on a Saturday after a Reds Game...the place was at capacity but didn't really feel "packed." Service was very attentive, food quality excellent and the staff honored my reservation EXACTLY at the time I had reserved. Considering how busy they were - I appreciated their HOLDING the reservation. After all, anyone can TAKE a reservation...
Anyway - I wouldn't hesitate to return to Moerline. Top notch all around.
Good for before or after baseball games. Very loud and open. food quality was OK, not great. Ribs were fatty. Poutine was awesome and good beer selection.
