Modo Mio - Newport Coast Ratings and Reviews
The food and the service are always 5 star at Modo Mio in Crystal Cove. I love dining here for ANY occasion, but lunch here is always enjoyable and relaxing. The ambiance is elegant and peaceful which makes it is possible to have a quiet conversation. I enjoy sitting by the window and gazing at the ocean while I eat the delicious food!
Modo Mio is always, always, always outstanding. This restaurant is consistently excellent....no matter what dish is ordered or the service. Also, the atmosphere is very special which makes the entire dining experience one of a kind. There is no other restaurant around here that compares. Modo Mio is definitely on my list of top restaurants!
The short rib Ragu was excellent and our friends had salmon that they felt was better than at any seafood restaurant in Newport Beach. My friend had the veal griglia but didn’t like the thyme seasoning. Extremely loud and slow to get started but once they took our order we had excellent service.
Met with friends. First visit for all of us. It was recommended by a friend of a friend and they were right on with their recommendation! The service was awesome, I don’t remember our waitress’ name but she was very personable. The food was excellent, very Italian.
A nice find in Newport Beach. Described fittingly as rustic Italian. Good variety of pasta e.g. with 3 types of mushrooms, oil and garlic, tomato sauce. Excellent rather unique dish of breaded chicken breast seasoned with chili flakes and Marsala reduction.
My dining partner this particular evening is a regular patron of this neighborhood gem. Though only my second time, I understand why. It's a beautiful restaurant with delicious, carefully-prepared Italian cuisine and outstanding service. Might have to become a regular, too!
My two girlfriends and I tried this place for the first time for dinner on a Saturday night and we did not make a mistake on any of our food choices!
From the antipasto, carpaccio and spumoni!
There was just one thing about our assigned server, she wore eyeglasses and from the start probably because of a busy night she does not seem too friendly and quite impatient but unlike the others who brought our appetizers and drinks who were friendly and helpful.
I had to mention this as I got to meet the very kind owner who is so sweet and does have a very personable and likable quality!
We truly appreciate the owner allowing us to move to the table close to the window when it vacated as we were already seated.
And even with that one unfriendly server because overall the food quality was great, and a good place to eat and a wonderful owner we will surely return and recommend this restaurant as a “must go to” place in Newport Beach.
We've eaten here a number of times over the years and never had a bad meal. The food is delicious. The portions are very nice size. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Everything was excellent, and it always is each time we return. You can't go wrong with Modo Mio.
First time that we've been so disappointed at this restaurant. Maybe it was the one large 'homecoming' party that they were trying to handle, but the service was terrible. The service was terrible long after the large party left (which is when we arrived). We were left waiting for our table for 10-15 minutes even though there were 4-5 empty tables available...they simply were not cleaned and reset. Owner and hostesses (2) did nothing to alleviate the problem, simply leaving the diners to cope with long waits and poor service long after the large party was gone.
We came here for lunch to celebrate my husband's birthday. It's our favorite Italian restaurant. My husband loved his veal that came with yummy potatoes and veggies. I had the flattened chicken with capers from their special lunch menu that came with a glass of wine, an entree, & tiramisu- all excellent! We shared my tiramisu and ordered their spumoni gelato too which the restaurant picked up as a birthday gift for my husband. So very thoughtful! The food, service, and ambience is superb - classy but never stuffy and in a nice outdoor "mall" to walk around after too. We will be back! Thank you, Modo Mio for making my husband's birthday so special!
The food, the ambience, and the service were all excellent. And it was quiet enough for pleasant conversation. Also, we appreciated the variety of the menu, which was fairly large. Also, the service and the atmosphere was very friendly. It was a place we plan to revisit.
