Every course was excellent!
Started with sticky ribs and charcuterie plate, then the monkfish special, and finished with the chocolate dessert.
One of the best meals I have had in a long time.
We look forward to our evening at Modis every time we visit Breck. Great cocktails, great food, and a fun vibe.
Our meal at Modis was definately one to remember. The chef's specials for the evening were Colorado Rack of Lamb and Monkfish. Both were superb! The lamb was served with cheesy grits and roasted Brussel sprouts, and the combination was fantastic. If you're lookiing for a memorable meal in Breck, (or just a cool place to have a cocktail after a day on the slopes) I'd highly recommend Modis!
We were a group of 5. 4 adults and 1 teen. We all ordered the steak. It was prepared as we ordered and served beautifully. One ordered the fish special and thought it was great! We did order the sticky ribs (fantastic), beet salad ( beautiful and great tasting) and a salad which the eater raved about the dressing. Good wine choices, two whites by glass and a bottle of red. All in all we had an enjoyable evening. Modis is n a historic buildng with two levels, so it is a bit noisy, but that seems to,be true with most busy Resturants these days.
Modern, efficient service, excellent choice of drinks, food is delicious, I would've preferred little less salt.
I would recommend Modis. Great wine list and mixed drinks
One of the best in Breck! Ramen and Pork chop are incredible!
My friends (5 total) and I scored a perfect 9:00pm reservation after a long day of skiing. The bar was vibrant but not clubby. The liquor stock was one of the most complete, interesting and well versed I have seen in years, it included local Breck's Whiskey, stables a-la Bulleit Rye and fantastic treats like Pappy 23 yr and Weller Special Reserve. The gentleman par took of sipping tequila and bourbon on the first round and then joined the ladies for expertly mixed cocktails of Sazerac, French 75 (with brandy vs. bourbon), and manhattans before being led upstairs to a quite large table overlooking the dining room, via a rotunda style second floor. As an aside, the local artists displaying on the walls were varied and delightful. For dinner we enjoyed a variety of each better than the last dishes, including the beef tartare which was highlighted by sea salt, a blissfully balanced Ramen that was impressive to even our Vietnamese guest, a radicchio salad that was a perfect balance of crunchy texture and sweet finish. We capped off the evening with a candle lit, due to one of our guests birthdays, cassata tart, which we shared amongst ourselves as we sipped on Prisoner reasonably priced and poured by the glass. One our our group had dined here 5 years ago and forgotten until we were seated, he attests to Modis as consistently impressive, without pretension. Overall, if you are looking for the perfect meal in Breck, big or small, large group or intimate dinner, wine lover of bourbon enthusiast, I must say Modis delivers on all fronts.
The menu contains many items not usually found in restaurants, so it was an adventure in dining. The Warm Kale salad made a kale lover out of my wife, and she dined on a superb pork porterhouse that we at not seen before on a menu. The menu also included a New York strip steak and bone-in rib-eye for the more traditional diner. Although we did not have room for dessert, the dessert selections look delightful. It was our first meal at Modis, but it won't be our last.
Awesome service! Amazing food! Desserts were spectacular! We were sat immediately and our server was very attentive to our every need. The wine list was amazing .you can definitely see the hard work that the chefs and owners of this establishment have put into this. We felt pampered and beyond!
Matthew the server was outstanding as was the food and drink
We love to eat here whenever we're in Breckenridge. The food is alway great and they also have a fun Happy Hour. Our group had several of their specialty drinks --- wonderful!
Keep it simple. Our dishes had so many ingredients that it was hard to identify what the dish was trying to highlight.
The food was flavorful and well-priced. The service was polite and enthusiastic. Some tables had quaint and cozy feel. The grand staircase is beautiful and great fro group pictures. The décor was had great wood work, but the artwork was good in color scheme but the overall artistic feel was befuddling. Relaxed atmospere.
We tried Modis upon receiving recommendations from several local residents.
The food was outstanding, the service was good and the decor was very good.
There is an active bar service downstairs which made for a somewhat noisy dining atmosphere.
Would recommend the restaurant to friends.
The food prep and taste where average. The value was poor based on price, taste and the size of the portions.
Came here after a day of skiing with several friends. Good food and drinks, mussels were great!
This was our best meal over the holiday week. The mussels were delicious and the sticky ribs a meal in of themselves. Two of us had the chicken. Flavorful and moist. The nochi were delicious. Another in our party had the special fish, bass I think, with risotto - all delicious. The fourth had the scallops, not a light dish but flavorful.
The food was creative, high quality, good flavor development, nice presentation. Atmosphere--cool and dressy-casual, more upscale than most après-ski type restaurants. Service was so-so, though. They wouldn't seat us until the reservation time even though there were empty tables, and we waited 45 minutes for our entrees.
I have dined here on several occasions and have always been p[leased with the food, atmosphere and service. Reservations are almost a must. The menu offers many choices for starters, entrees and desserts. The menus is fresh with locally sourced items and great nightly specials. Enough choices for everyone's liking. Everyone in our party of 6 had a different entree and no one was disappointed. Price point is well in line with the quality of food and preparation.
Modis is an excellent foodie choice. We have enjoyed two evenings with outstanding food choices, excellent staff both behind the bar at waiting on us. We highly recommend Modis.
I hadn't been to Modis for over a year before my most recent visit. The last 2-4 times I had been to Modis Inhad been disappointed. I decided to give it another try since Brecknridge has relatively limited dining options. I was favorably impressed with this dining experience. The service was excellent, we ordered the soul of the day and 3 small plates. All were excellent. The wine list is not extensive, but has affordable, accessible choices. I will be putting Modis back in my dining rotation!
Modis is one of our top 3 restaurants in Breck having lived here for many years. Great food, fun appetizers like the ribs, beef carpacio and excellent service. Always consistently good to great!
The guys at the bar are the best! The food is so so. Just isn't the same since it was sold a few years ago...sorry.
We've been to Modis before but they really have upped their game now! We sat upstairs overlooking the pretty lighted town of Breck. My drink which the waiter recommended, jalapeño lemon drop martini was perfect! The bread he brought out was delicious and gobbled up quickly by our group. I had their soup of the day, cream of coconut, and it was divine. I also had the warm kale and arugula salad which was unlike any salad I've ever had. So flavorful! My husband had the half chicken with gnocchi and it too was perfection. I was so impressed with Modis this visit and now I can't wait to go back
Good meal at nice price. Excellent service too. I would recommend them to our friends. Used open table and had nice table on second floor. Easy reservation.
Mussels were really outstanding! The addition of pancetta to the rich, full-flavored broth was inspired. The night's special of Colorado striped bass on grill-crispened quinoa, with beets and flash-fried Brussels sprout leaves should be on the regular menu. Really good. The scallops on polenta, while perfectly good and serviceable, weren't at the same level. Francis's service was engaged, knowledgeable, well-timed, thoughtful - and ski-town friendly. All one could ask for!
We had a great time at Modis. Everyone was pleased with their meals which is often tough to pull off. The menu is diverse but not overloaded with too many items. The steak was cooked to perfection and the chicken entree was one of the best dishes we ever tasted.
Great food and neat decor! Wonderful find in a mountain town!
I had been there a couple of years ago and the food was terrific. This time the salad and appetizer were great but the entres only fair. It is not a place for a quiet/ romantic dinner. Sound carries and even seated at a table for 2 was difficult to converse. The service was great though!
**Keep in mind we went during "mud season" - early November when Breck is a virtual ghost town.
We went early to get a good table because the other reviews said upstairs was a great spot. It didn't disappoint! We were the only ones upstairs for the first half of our meal with a table right in front of the big window overlooking Mainstreet. We were there for a romantic dinner and the host seated us thoughtfully. The service was attentive. The menu is really creative and almost everything was excellent. The only drawback was the Sriracha Caesar salad - I was really excited about it but it was kind of boring. It tasted great as a normal Caesar, just didn't have the heat you'd expect from the name - couldn't taste the Sriracha at all.
Modis is a "higher end" restaurant that still is pretty casual and low key. The food is good with some truly unique dishes including their version of ramen. (Ramen in the Rockies! Definitely unique!) When we were there, they had a excellent swordfish/quinoa dish. They have a good happy hour with a decent selection of appetizers and wine selection.
We picked Modis for dinner on our first night in Breckenridge based on the sample menu online and it did not disappoint. Modis has a small menu where every item on it is crafted to perfection. But the real thrill was the cocktail menu - everything from an Aviation, to a Last Word, to a sublime Sazerac and any classic you can think of in between.
Delightful experience. Good ambiance, extensive bar offerings, great service, limited but well prepared menu options. We enjoyed the lamb shank, pot pie and ribeye steak.
Modis is doing a good job in the Breckenridge restaurant scene. Food is creative, atmosphere is energetic, wait staff are well trained and friendly, and young owners who make it a point to visit the tables and say more than, "how are your dinners?" I had the mussels appetizer and lamb shank entree. Both were delicious. We will go many more times.
Our new favorite place for a nice meal in Breckenridge! Overall great food, drinks and ambiance. Dont forget about the early and late night happy hour.
Simple to make the reservation, we were in a time frame that we had a choice table. The food very good, the Mussels and sauce were Outsanding, Pot Pie Delicious and the finsh of Sorbet Great!
We were thrilled to find Modis! We got there early, so had our pick of tables and a very attentive waiter. We sat upstairs with a center table overlooking the mountains and the moon coming up. They also have a great upstairs deck, but it was getting too cold to sit out there. It was quiet, but probably gets loud when it gets more crowded. We loved everything we ordered - I had the Cold Turkey Sliders from the Happy Hour menu - delicious - wonderful flavors included cranberry and (what I think was) sage gravy that came on the side! My husband had the Turkey Pot Pie - also delicious with a beautiful crust on top! My 5 year old ordered Fish and Chips and ate all the fish. So glad we stumbled upon this place - we will be back!
Amazing food. Superb Service! A definite must when you are in Breckenridge CO!!!
Anytime we visit Breck with friends and want to take them out to dinner we take them here, also great food at a restaurant that is kid friendly, which is sometimes hard to find!
