Led by chef and owner Hector Diaz, Modesto features a farm to table approach to upscale wood-fired Italian. The menu changes twice daily and includes a variety of fresh seafood, fine meats, and house made pastas. Pizzas are hand-tossed and cooked in a wood fired oven made in Italy. To compliment your meal, our bar offers over 30 exclusively Italian wines as well as a dynamic list of classic and cutting edge cocktails. Desserts are made from scratch, including our famous tiramisu, and we proudly serve 1000 Faces Coffee.

This place was packed during Caronavirus week because it was fantastic. The van driver raved about it and so did the other patrons.

This a must visit in Ashville.

My date and I ate at Modesto Trattoria before the SoCon basketball tournament on Monday. The wait staff and the chefs were extremely accommodating and timely so we could get to our game. Both dinners were delicious. The service was amazing, and the wine was fine. Thank you.

Our server Rachel was great. She made the meal great, despite the majorly burnt pizza bottom and a nearly 20 mins wait with no one speaking to us. She made up for it with her attitude, her knowledge and adjusting the check accordingly. Thanks

The menu is creative, with a good assortment of selections and the wine list features some different, but quality vintners. We appreciated that our server was able to make pairing suggestions.

Absolutely stellar dining experience. Luke provided outstanding and attentive service and the attention to freshness and detail in the food preparation was extraordinary. We were traveling and loved it so much we were going to make a reservation for the next night also, but they were closed on Sunday. Highly recommend!

I went to Modesto 3 years ago and ordered their Organic Chicken Parmesan and it was SO GOOD. When I finally went to Ashville again for vacation, this place was at the top of my list! I had the Chicken Parmesan again and it was as great as I remembered it! We also ordered the roasted olive leaves appetizer which was so yummy, and my date said the Seafood Carbonara was 5 stars.

VERY SMALL restaurant that crams way too many people into the space. Calamari was burnt, chicken was not cooked, rigatoni was hard and under cooked, vegetables was hard and under cooked. We complained to the waitress but no one ever came to the table to ask about our complaints. Overall food was horrible and we were shoved into a corner with our neighbors practically sitting with us for dinner. Only good thing about our dining experience
was the neighbors we ate with were very nice!
Definitely would not recommend this restaurant!

We did not have a great experience this time. My husband’s rice was not cooked the way it should gave been and the fish did not taste fresh. This is not what we have been used to. We will try again.

We've been steady customers since they opened and love/loved all food in restaurants Hector owns. The fried calamari and octopus were great as usual and we both had the veal parm because we enjoyed it so much several visits ago. This time there wasn't any tomato sauce, no cheese and it wasn't crispy. We quietly asked the waitress why there wasn't any cheese (Fontina was listed on the menu) and she looked dismayed when examining the dish and took them back. When they returned, the veal was crunchy, there was a good deal of sauce and a sprinkling of cheese. We remember that once before when my husband inquired about the lack of cheese, he was told there would be an additional charge for extra cheese. Anyone who has been to New York or New Jersey knows that veal parm HAS to have melted cheese so we were disappointed and won't order it again. Yes, Saturday nights are mobbed and you sit much too close to other diners but that's half the charm and the food portions are more than ample and the freshest and tastiest in town. Hopefully, this was just an aberration on a super busy night.

nosher, Thank you for leaving your comments about the veal parmesan: that is not our normality, and we would not charge you extra for the cheese that is supposed to be on there. Early dinner before Concert. Sat down immediately at reservation time 5:30. Waiter was very engaging and helpful. We had red wine I chose a Chianti and my wife had a Pinot Noir both good a little pricey @ $15 and $18 the pour was about 5oz and probably should be at least 6oz to 8. We ordered a pizza appetizer Wild Forest ( $22) it was larger than the 12 inch description and the flavor was fantastic a mix of several cheeses mushrooms and garlic sauce with arugula piled high in the middle, the crust was very good. I ordered the Bronzino fish ($36) and my wife the Caprese salad ($10) and Potato base gnocchi ($I2) also asked if I could get a half order of the Seafood carbonara pasta with pancetta and shrimp and squid with smoke salmon instead of a full order and our waiter ask the chef and I was accommodated. The Bronzino was very tasty ( I had it in Spain a few months earlier and wanted to compare ) it past the test though not as garlicky or lemony as I had in Spain it certainly was up to par. But the risotto that came with it mixed with crab and black eyed peas and vegetables was very very delicious it dominated the taste. The Carbonara was much larger than I anticipated and I ate only the smoked fish and shrimp and boxed the rest. I ate it the next day and the flavor was very good as the spices penetrated the pasta and other components.

We were stuffed so we couldn’t order any deserts though they sounded good. I did have a cappuccino which was good.

The bill came out to $140 which I anticipated to be after reading some reviews. Maybe in some other restaurants you would have paid slightly less than $100 but I don’t think the farm to table ingredients would have compared. Nothing we had was made from a can or box and it reflected in the taste and freshness of the meal. Modesto’s may not be for everyone expense wise but our meal and service was very good.

Great waiter. The calamari was wonderful. The mixed drinks were delicious and delivered timely. The lamb chops were to die for. This restaurant will be a go to for us when we are in Asheville.

Sister weekend. The tables were way too close to one another. I am sure the couple next to us didn’t want people listening to their conversation as it could not be helped. Zero privacy and a very awkward exit between the tables. Good and service was very good.

Great service. Staff was friendly, attentive, and quick to offer suggestions. The environment was nice too. The food however was not worth the price tag. It was good food, don’t get me wrong, but not worth the price. I even had the recommended Pork Ragu and it was still just OK. This is the reason of 3 out of 5 stars.

Food was great. Had calamari as appetizer. May have been best we have ever had. Entrees were Delmonico Steak and two seafood dishes. All were good. Have visited multiple times. Would have rated excellent, but there was a wait that was unusual between time we were seated and server appeared. Once the server appeared, she did a great job throughout the entire meal.

I had company from out of town and took them to dinner at Modesto. All of our meals were great. Ted was our server and he is the most professional and knowledgeable server that I have experienced.
I would highly recommend Modesto and when you go, request Ted. Your experience will be wonderful!

We really enjoy going to Modesto and the food was very good. I became a bit frustrated when we sat down for dinner and no one came to wait on us. I asked the maitre de if he could find someone to take our order. After about 10 more minutes, i got up from my table to track down the maitre de again to ask for a server. He seemed astonished that no one had waited on us yet. We did not get drinks or have our order taken until after being seated for 20-25 minutes. I like the restaurant, but i almost walked out and went somewhere else because the lack of service. One we did get service, out waitress was wonderful and took our order promptly. Our dissatisfaction was somewhat minimized after she did such a good job. The experience just started off poorly, and i expected more from this restaurant having been here several times.
