We’ve always loved our experience at Moderne Barn for brunch, and this past Saturday we had the privilege of going for dinner. Everything from the service to the food exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be coming back soon!!
Disappointing!! I dined at this restaurant a few years ago and had an awesome experience. Last night was the opposite. The waiter was rushed, rude and inattentive. We think the manager eventually took our order, not sure who the man was. He was not very friendly-asked if we were going to order dinner...after we had apps and drinks and waited a long time for out waiter to come back. My dinner-scallops-was tasteless-scallops over peas and corn with no flavor. Two of my friends said their dinners were too salty-the gnocchi and the grilled octopus. My friend who ordered the cavatelli liked her meal. Another friend had the tuna-gave it a thumbs up. The burrata was excellent and the chocolate coconut cream pie was delicious. Hopefully, last night was just an off night??
We felt very rushed. We had 3 courses & each time we finished one, the next was right on top of it. Wanting to spend some time conversing with old friends we don’t see often, made the experience less enjoyable!
We went the other night not knowing that Moderne Barn was having guest chef Bill Telepan from Oceana there. Great specials. I had the ceviche and lobster bolognese. My wife is the opposite. A meat eater. She had Moderne Barns porterhouse special. She let me have a few bites and it was delicious. Hope they do it again.
The guest chef from oceana made a great meal
My wife and I have been regulars from the beginning. Our go to treat are the Allen Brothers Steaks. They're always outstanding. I alternate between the rib eye and the hanger steak and my wife loves the filet. They have amazing homemade french fries to boot. Our most recent visit we had the new coconut cream pie. I know, it sounds a little too rich but you only live once!
Marissa, the general manager, always stops by and gives us a warm hello.
Good food (except the fries were hard/over cooked, good drinks and good service. Generally consistent.
Ordered a ribeye and wife ordered scallops. First ribeye was nothing more than a piece of fat and grissle. 2nd steak was WELL done when was to be medium. Scallops had ZERO seasoning and were bland. My wife ate her meal, I picked at the sides while they tried to send out a $38 steak. A restaurant is not just food, it's the overall experience. I couldn't be more embarrassed for a restaurant of this caliber. The bill came after being here for 2.5 hours and ONLY the steak was removed. I asked to speak with the GM. The GM was under the impression that this was sufficient and would rather argue about cuts of meat than listen to how awful our night out was. We told her what we were paying for and requested the owners name which was given with attitude.
Outstanding!!! Stuffed French toast was awesome!!
Spacious, great vibe and always delicious. Very popular.
First time dining at Moderne Barn. We had brunch on a Saturday. A beautiful space,
friendly service, and excellent food.
Always a great meal with great service. It’s a regular spot for me and my husband.
We always like going to Moderne Barn. The food is great and the menu is diverse with a mix of some favorite types of dishes across different forms of cuisine. We were six people and all of our apps were great and five of the six meals were very good. The Lamb Bolognese was not that great, nor was the caramel brownie. But everything else was great!!
Awesome as usual. The hanger steak and mashed potatoes were excellent. The burrata tomato salad was delicious. My friend ordered the scalloped and salad and was amazed by how tasty everything was. To finish, the key lime pie was delectable. I had Chardonnay and she had Sauvignon Blanc. We liked our wine but wanted a Pinot noir with dinner. I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t offer an Oregon Pinot Noir by the glass. I wasn’t fond of the other two they offered. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Kind of rushed thru dinner due to kitchen closing at 8pm.
This was my first time dining at Moderne Barn. I went for date night and it was perfect. I loved the ambiance and the food was so amazing. The drinks were also spectacular. I had the strawberry sangria and wish I could be sipping on it right now! I have already told all of my friends about it. I was personally greeted and chatted with the manager who was very sweet and accommodating. I will definitely be back. I would recommend this restaurant for date nights, parties and family outings.
We had a really nice Easter lunch with family. Moderne Barn is always a great choice.
Easter Sunday Brunch and felt rushed throughout the meal. Sat down at 1:30 ordered drinks, apps, and main course. Main course came when we were finishing apps. meal completed at 2:10. Could have eaten at City LImits for the way this meal was served. At least they came by to offer us a second cup of coffee.
Great food in a beautiful restaurant. Casual attire in a relaxed venue. Superior wait staff.
Really good menu options. I liked the vibe of the restaurant. The service was pretty good as well. Food was great!
Not a great experience- food in large portions and tasteless or busy . Pass
came for last evening of Restaurant Week, impressed with menu and especially with food; meatballs as appetizer were great, as was the filet mignon. Regular menu looked very good as well, can always count on an enjoyable meal here. Service a bit uneven but not a big problem.
Went here for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. Food and Service were very good. I would definitely return to eat here again.
Modern barn has such a nice spaciousness in the main dining room. The banquettes and booths are very comfortable and conducive for conversation. The food is of excellent quality, flavors and preparation as well as presentation. The upstairs space feels a bit cramped as there are not the high ceilings. The wait staff is very attentive and personable. The filet mignons were prepared, rare or medium rare as ordered. The seafood was prepared also rare or medium rare as requested also by our different guests. Always a great place to return to.
Modern deicious food, great service, a spacious and welcoming room. We love it!
Great spot for a group dinner. Lunch and brunch are especially good
Always love the food but the restaurant attracts a lot of families with children for Sunday brunch and it gets very noisy.
Our experience was unsatisfactory on multiple levels. The biggest reason was the fact we had to wait 40 minutes for our 8 pm reservation (we checked in on time). Nobody offered any type of discount or even a free drink while we waited. After 30 minutes the hostess finally offered to take our coats. Once seated, we waited for 5 minutes to be greeted and then the food runner brought the wrong food to our table. We finally received the correct food but by this time we were thoroughly annoyed. The food quality was good (not great) but we were so hungry by the time we ate I would have eaten anything and it would have tasted good. To be fair, the server was very polite and the overall ambiance is very appealing but it wasn’t enough to save the night. My advice is a manager definitely needs to be more involved in the seating process because anything more than 10 minutes should be compensated with at least a free drink. For the overall cost of the bill I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a higher level of service.
First time here. Definitely coming back for the fish tacos. Awesome!
We requested a quiet spot and they at first put us at table that was right next to the top of the stairs. We were able to move to a table that was slightly better. However noise level was extremely high. The service was very good and the food was above average. The space was very dramatic and inspiring. But they need to reduce noise.
Good but not great
Delicious food, fun atmosphere, friendly staff. We were there for my husband's birthday and the staff gave us our space because we wanted a leisurely dinner.
Server was not good. She was not interested in serving us since it was restaurant week. She brought out our dinner while we were
In the middle of appetizers.
Great as always. Did not know it was restaurant week when I made reservations. What a tremendous value for the meal that was served, Kudos!
We went for Restaurant Week and really enjoyed it. The only complaint I have is how close the small 2 tops are to each. We felt like we were dining with the couple next to us. Other than that, everything was wonderful.
Great service! Delicious food. We’ll definitely go again.
Excellent dinner - one of us chose Restaurant week menu and other ordered from main menu including bottle of wine. Food was excellent and service was doing great until they forgot about the dessert. Left us sitting there and we finally flagged down server who went to manager and pointed at screen and manager ran to kitchen and returned with dessert. Except for that, experience was enjoyable and would definitely return.
The Food Was Excellent! And The Service Was Great!
