A unique restaurant featuring a fresh, local, and innovative menu from chef Justin Leboe.
The food is amazing, staff is very friendly and welcoming. The Wagyu brisket and fried chicken are probably the best I’ve ever had (TX brisket included). I Had to eat there twice during my short visit to Calgary! And the apple pie! Wow!
Not great for one of Calgary’s finer eateries. Limited food choices on Sundays and some staff that can’t seem to crack a smile. Pretty average experience overall. However this was Easter Sunday and the restaurant was super busy - the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. This is still one of our favourite eateries in Calgary and we wouldn’t hesitate to try it again, when the regular menu is on offer.
Great food and amazing drinks. Loved the vinyl!
Where we were sitting was too loud. The group next to us was making a lot of noise, and bartender behind us kept slamming his cocktail shaker at random intervals.
The chairs were also too uncomfortable.
The server we had was fantastic though, and the food was amazing. I’d highly recommend it, but try to sit away from the bar.
Amazing service , the food was exceptional .
Amazing meal in a great space - service was personal, and overall impeccable!
The food is amazing at Model Milk!!! My husband was starving when we arrived at the restaurant. He kept complaining until we starting eating. He said that he feels like he was at one of food network competition. The food and service are excellent. Model Milk never disappoint us. Keep up the good work! My 11 months daughter also liked the fact that they had high chair. However, she wish they were a changing table in the bathroom. Mama did struggle trying to change her.
Sat at the bar Saturday night and had some amazing cocktails courtesy of some great bartenders. Also enjoyed the oysters and cauliflower (I think the mushrooms may have been missing from the cauliflower dish - still delicious though). Will definitely be back.
The lamb was very chewy but the kitchen took care of the issue quickly
Set menu on Sunday - both food and service were great. Only complaint is the music is too loud. It makes it tough to have a conversation over dinner.
Éthiopien family dinner was such a welcome surprise and the food was spot on. Easily one of the best dining experiences you can have in Calgary.
It was delicious! The place was nice and cozy as well
I went on a Saturday night with a group of friends. We all loved Model Milk. The layout is quite different, as we were in the upper area that's almost like a narrow loft. We were able to see down onto the first level. The food was amazing! We had a few appetizers, the calamari was addictive. Two of us had funnel cakes for dessert and the rest had the apple crumble type dessert. None of us cared for the funnel cakes. I think it was the cream cheese, cardamom dip. Maybe it just needed to be sweeter? However, the apple dessert (I can't remember the name) was incredible! I would definitely have that again. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, however, keep in mind it is noisy and the noise carries. So trying to talk to someone at the end of your table is a bit of a challenge.
20/10!!! Our server was knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and sincerely great.
Kudos to the kitchen... the birthday boy said it was the best food he’s ever eaten in his life (special shout out to Chef Scott!). Overall, it was an excellent Friday night out.
We will be back!!
Came for dinner with my family from out of town and had a lovely experience. Food was amazing and so was the service. Our server Collin took care of our every need. 10/10 would recommend.
Great ambiance and good food. Service was outstanding and I will be back again.
Food was excellent but some were extremely salty (veal bolognaise). Wagyu beef tartar was mediocre. Favorite dishes were the Thai appetizer & the kale salad, I do want to go back to try those again, and try a few other dishes. Service was outstanding.
Reservation for 8:30pm, we were told they had 2 functions on so kitchen was busy. Our food landed on the table at 10pm, it was way too long waiting. Good atmosphere, nice room, server was attentive, but not much she could do. She gave us an extra dessert as a gesture. Which was nice. It cost over $400. Was a little disappointed with it all.
Our server Danni was outstanding. She made excellent recommendations, continued to check in on us, and was just an awesome person all around. The food and drinks were so delicious, made even better by the atmosphere. Loved it.
If you have a seafood allergy there is not many options the menu was a small selection and the side dishes on plates were small like the Brussels sprouts with beef I had one but the atmosphere and service was great!
Great service and ambiance. The only complaint was the chicken was a little under cooked but still the whole experience was great.
Wagyu Brisket was unavailable that evening. Food was surprisingly lackluster given the recommendations from friends who have frequented Model Milk.
Model Milk is wonderful. This day though, it did not work for me. Limited Gluten Free options and I unfortunately couldn’t have Shellfish on this occasion.
Pie was cold twice. Wagu also cold. Not impressed.
Excellent food, service, alcohol selection, etc.
We went during YYC Experience week, so we chose the set menu. It was an extremely good value at $40 for 3 courses. This was our first visit to Model Milk, and we really enjoyed it. We liked the decor and being able to watch the kitchen from our vantage point upstairs. All 3 courses that we tried were tasty and very generously portioned. Additionally, we had the potatoe brioche buns to start...we'd go back just for the buns.
Absolutely a beautiful original menu! Our server was amazing and so friendly! Celebrated our 10th anniversary and were treated to comp champagne and crispy chicken skin plate. We absolutely stuffed ourselves on the beef tartare, Thai curry, calamari and perogi dishes. And the apple pie. It was the best meal I’ve eaten. Model Milk is outstanding! We will always come here for dinner in Calgary. Love love love this place!
Not sure why the wait staff are directed to describe the food they serve in detail to diners when no one can hear anything over the music.
Great restaurant with good food... however, I'm unlikely to go again. I booked weeks in advance and booked later at night hoping to avoid the main dinner crowd. Yet when I arrived with my party, we were made to wait for more than half hour while other guests who didn't have reservations were walked right in.
Granted, our party size was for four and the guests that came in after us was six and two. One would think reservations meant something - that somehow we would be given some priority since we took the time to let them know we were coming.
We tried the food and drink expo for $40 each. It was delicious and worth the money.
We had a wonderful experience and appreciated the Sunday feature menu and the quality and value of the choices. Additionally the preparedness to be able to accommodate any food allergies with one dish is brilliant.
A lovely Sunday evening dinner , enjoying the special YYC Food festival menu. We had a 5 p.m. reservation for an early dinner, and when we left around 7 the restaurant had filled up. Service was excellent. Loved the milk bottle on the table of sparkling house water at n/c.
First visit and decided to try it as they were participating in the Experience YYC event. Overall, was very good. It was a birthday outing with a friend, so we were greeted with a glass of bubbly. We each chose the promotional 3 course dinner and felt the value was excellent. Had we paid a la carte for what we had, we may have been more critical. The items offered in the promotion were not exactly like the same version on the main menu, but still tasty and fresh. Service was attentive, however, we did feel rushed towards the end. Just as I finished my dinner, my plate was whisked away and the dessert was served. No time to appreciate the main course, finish my wine or prepare for an entirely different taste. The dessert had ice cream with it, so we couldn’t even leave it for a few minutes before digging in. No offer of a coffee or after dinner drink, either. Still, an overall great meal and we will return. Only other comment was the music was quite loud and a bit ‘thumpy’ at times! Don’t mind upbeat, but we aren’t in a club:)
We were on a date night and had a nice Remington with very good service. We were offered the Experience menu which was wry attractive as it included the main plate that I was going to prefer so I indicated I wanted to preset it but then was told that the whole tale had to order from the Experience menu, which my husband didn’t want to order from. It was disappointing because the server said the email reservation should have mentioned it but it didn’t as I rechecked. The menu also doesn’t indicate that either so doubly disappointing. Anyway, the cod was yummy as were the accompanying muscles although a bit too salty. The shrimp curry was very good although for those who don’t like a lot of heat I would beware. The Waygu beef was ok but as it was the first time having it and having being used to the tenderness of beef tenderloin, it was a bit fatty versus marbly like a ribeye. Overall it was good and I would return to try some other dishes as the service was very good.
Great atmosphere, with exceptional service and even better food. Extensive wine list, and cocktails make this for a favourite spot in the city
The food was outstanding!
Awesome food! Drinks were great. Worth the $
This is my second time at model milk over the last few years. This time I brought my mom who had never been and she has raved about it ever since. The staff are all equally attentive and our waitress was lovely! We enjoyed the Sunday Supper which is served family style and changes week over week. It was a nice change not to have to decide and to be pleasantly surprised with each dish. It is evident that model milk employed those who really find a passion in both service and food. A great overall experience and a lovely evening out!
Food, service and atmosphere is exceptional
