Love this restaurant....but, the service just has to get better. We have been consistent customers for some time and this has become a recurring theme. I don't think it's the waitstaff as they seem on the ball. The kitchen seems to be the problem. 45 min-1 hour is too long to wait for food. And from friends who eat (ate) here, we're not the only ones who've noticed.
Excellent bar tender named ciro. Beautiful place!
Our first visit was awesome. Sitting near fireplace with great service, wonderful music, and a delicious brunch. Looking forward to dinner there soon.
This was my second time at Mockingbird and I wouldn't go back. I really like the layout and the waitstaff is very nice, but....
The noise level can be very high.....
None of us cared for our food.. shrimp tempura-- not really tempura and I didn't like it at all.
We split the duck and it was just okay, and the rice mixture that came with it was cold.. in fact the duck wasn't that warm either. The steak, which a friend got, was cooked correctly, but for $30 wasn't worth it. Our friend wanted a corona, which they didn't have --they don't have any regular beers- Bud, Coors, etc so she settled for a coke.
The food and staff are simply awesome!
Celebrating my wife’s birthday with my mother in-law and son. Everything was great and everyone enjoyed the dinner. This was our 4th meal at Mockingbird and we are looking forward to the fifth
Just what the neighborhood needed! Chef Sam Tilley is always serving something new and delicious. Love it.
Great dinner by the fire with family. Doesn’t get much better than that! Excellent food, service and atmosphere.
We had a wonderful dinner and time at the Mockingbird. We actually were a little skeptical being our first time and boy where we wrong. My wife had chicken that was so moist and cooked to perfection. I had salmon that I got well done and it was superb. The bread we OD on for sure. Actually bought a loaf to take home.
Mockingbird is now my all around favorite restaurant in the Litchfield area. Great for all kinds of evenings when delicious food is an objective. Samantha Tilley is a great chef and a welcoming presence.
A relatively new restaurant in Litchfield County. Went to brunch, and the menu was interesting. They have done a wonderful job renovating the space. It is lovely. I will return for dinner.
The food was terrific, the service was wonderful, the atmosphere and decor really nice. We found it a bit pricey, that's all.
LOVE the Mockingbird! Always a fabulous meal
We LOVE Mockingbird! The atmosphere is friendly, beautiful and special. The food and drinks are amazing. Service is great and everything is consistent. Thank you!!!
The waitress recommended dishes and everything was amazing!
Best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. Drinks were generously poured and ambience extremely welcoming and friendly.
New Year’s Eve dinner on a cold night. The restaurant was decorated with top hats, noise makers and balloons. We enjoyed the hot fresh seafood dinner and shared a cream brûlée for dessert. We will return for another meal!
We are getting a little tired of the pub menu format the restaurant switched to a couple of months back. The food is good, but we miss the more inventive specials.
I had 3 out of town guests and chose this place because I it looked so pretty and most reasturants in the area have very high standards. I have to say this place did not. The food was good but the service was beyond slow and worst of all was the temperature. We were a party of 5 and were out in the room with many windows. The room may have been 55-60 degrees. My guests wore coats and scarves while waiting. We waited 30 minutes for our first drinks to appear. The drinks were good but the amount of time it took for the service was waaayyy too long. Our reservation was at 6:30 and we did t get our food until 8! I don’t like being rushed at reasturants but the wait time coupled with the freezing temp was just too much. We did eventually move into the bar area and were then squished into a table that would have been tight for a party of 4, never mind 5. I will not recommend this reasturant to anyone and will make sure to share my experience if asked.
I’ve never had even a slightly negative experience at Mockingbird! The food and drinks are fantastic, the service is wonderful and welcoming, the ambiance is relaxing and lovely. Thank you!
LOVE the Mockingbird. Every dish I get is delicious. The menu changes so there’s always something new to try. There is a solid focus on fresh ingredients and creative recipes. Would go here any night of the week!
We were there for thanksgiving. Price fixed including appetizer and dessert. Waitress was very accommodating and tried to guide us gently away from items on the menu she wouldn’t recommend...
Unfortunately what we ordered was just very mediocre, but in light of the 275.00 check for 4, we were hoping for a better meal. Pumpkin bisque was tasty but just a little warmer than room temperature. Turkey and fixing ok Only and prime rib was very tough....
Quaint setting but disappointing meal....
Absolutely amazing once again. I was so have as a chef to have the night off and take my wife out for Thanksgiving dinner. Truly blessed to have this restaurant in town.
Thank you so much

Good service great change from everyday average dining
Another wonderful meal! Our favorite place in NW CT!
Exceptional service from wait staff and bar - great cocktail in response to open ended request. Food excellent as always. What a terrific restaurant.
We had a wonderful dinner by the fire with good friends from New Haven. This is their third dinner with us at MKB. Even thought we are all in our later years they still travel up here to meet us at MKB for a wonderful dinner. One friend had the chicken with herb polenta, catctaore sauce and melted Asiago. My husband and I had the Roasted chicken with carrots and herb dumplings and finally the fourth was the seafood pescatore with mussels, squid, shrimp, cockles and homemade pasta. All our plates were cleaned and yet we still managed to have desserts of Belgian waffles with pumpkin ice cream topped with salted caramel sauce. What a treat. Our friends said this was the best yet and will be back again soon. Nothing better than a cheerful fire, great food and service, and good friends to make a memorial evening.
An off night perhaps? Service was abominably slow, though friendly. It was so cold in the dining room that a party of 5 left without even sitting down. My vegetable turine was SO dry I thought they were serving gourds and wall paper paste (thinnest layer of mashed potatoes ever!) The bartender botched our vodka up with lime by putting lemon peel in it. We paid too much for too little. It was unpleasant.
Our daughter attends a boarding school nearby and this was a welcome find for parents weekend!
Food was just ok. Not as good as it has been in the past and we had 3 different items none of which were that great
Had a very enjoyable dinner. Menu had great options, nice affordable wine list.
Staff was kind and attentive. Food portions and timing were great as well. The atmosphere
is cozy, candlelit . We will look forward to going back soon. Actually, have been 2 weekends in a row!
Food was good, but it comes out FAST. Ordered three separate courses and we were out the door in about an hour. Appetizers arrived before we had finished our plate of oysters. Not sure if we caught them on a hectic night or if this is the usual pace of service, but any thoughts of ordering a bottle of wine were dashed by the sheer speed of food coming from the kitchen. Worth a second chance but will clearly need to explain our needs to the server better when ordering.
If only the dining room were not quite so dark - almost impossible to read the menu ; and if only the waitress had been less wordy and more attentive, this would have been a perfect meal. The food was perfection, a very fair value for excellent quality. The food was nicely plated, the portions very generous. We went to enjoy Samantha Tilley's cooking, and in that we were not disappointed. I hope they will elevate the lighting a little, and tone down the "personality" of the waitress.
Meal service at the bar was superb. The chicken relleno was superb (new on the menu).
Open on more days for lunch ;)
We love sitting at the bar, and our mom loves the vibe too
Spent the weekend near Litchfield, CT. Mockingbird, like all of Bantam is a Renaissance town with great dining. Aside from the food and drinks that were wonderful, you could hear the other people at your table for conversations. Kudos for sound control!.
Great food and service great. Can not go wrong on any selection. Menus changes daily.
This was our second visit, this time a Friday night, and we were disappointed that our experience it didn't meet our initial expectations. The steak frites' frites were soggy and the service was less professional, although friendly. We'll give it another try, hoping for that higher standard we enjoyed the first time around.
A real shambles, sadly. The place looked so nice. The waitress admitted she knew nothing about the wine and wasn't comfortable opening bottles in front of guests. The starters were not bad. The mains took 45 minutes to arrive (after the starters), and my fish was cold and actually raw (it was not a sashimi/sushi dish). The pasta was very average (especially for the price) and the vegetarian noodle dish lacked any real flavor (it just had heat). The vegetarian curry and confit du canard were both good, though the curry was over-salted. They wine lists spells Burgundy as "Burgandy" many times. Sadly the nice surroundings and pretty well-reading menu didn't really deliver at all. They were, in the end, very understanding about the screw-ups and did comp the two dishes we really complained about and comped us desserts and coffee. This was a very fair comprimise, so it was handled well. Just wish it wouldn't have been so extremely hit and miss.
Not happy with portion size based on menu descriptions
