Mockingbird Kitchen and Bar
Excellent appetizers, fresh house made bread, amazing entrees! Very low key and relaxing setting for a Valentine's day dinner!
Lovely Valentines Dinner. Oysters, of course! Wonderful homemade bread. Then a terrific burger and fries, and succulent Berkshire pork chop. Pavlova with fruit was the perfect end to a delicious dinner. Good cocktails and wine, and friendly, efficient service. What more?
Wonderful food, great service. The chef came to our table and spent time with our teenage daughter who LOVES to cook. Above and beyond! Very welcoming.
Sadly, the food was virtually inedible. Good service and decent ambience but desperate need for improvement in the kitchen.
Appetizers (cod cakes and antipasto salad) were excellent
Chicken entree was very good. New York strip steak awful, not trimmed, l o t s of gristle and resting on mashed potatoes making for soggy effect.
Nice restaurant but need to figure out steaks
The environment is warm and intimate with a rustic modern flare. The fireplace added to the atmosphere. The menu was inventive and the entrees were beautifully prepared. They made my simple salmon a treat. There are other things on the menu that are more adventurous. As food came out for other dinners I could not wait to come back and try them. The wait staff was very helpful and attentive. I look forward to visiting Mockingbird again. Easy, laid back, comfortable and friendly. A perfect place to relax with friends.
Most of the time the food is great and didn’t disappoint this evening. Good appetizers, salads and desserts too. The fish dishes are consistently good and the burgers are excellent. The servers are very attentive and friendly. The downside is the cocktail service is slow, especially in the dining room. Don’t blame the servers!!! Atmosphere is cozy and the crowd is fun. Add this to your list as it offers a diverse menu to cover many tastes.
The best creme brûlée I have ever eaten- wonderfully smooth and flavorful and I wasn’t thinking it was too sweet,
because it was perfectly not sweet!
Lamb burger and salad also great.
Beautiful restaurant, roaring fire, great music, good food, lovely server.
Pretty place with terrific classic and innovative food, a fireplace and a great bar.
Great food, great service. Our waitress was #1
Food was fabulous- server was top notch as well. The only slight issue was time between courses was a little longer than I like. Great overall value and I would not hesitate to repeat.
Good food, great drinks, a bit loud but standard for a Friday night, menu options for Mains are somewhat limited but each are truly delicious!
New Years Eve!
The pork dumplings were tasty, the nobu shrimp were greasy, the salad was meh, the lamb burger was fine, but the fries that came with it were limp. Could be done better.
Decent addition to the neighborhood turning Bantam into a foodies destination. Nothing special here, just a decent menu, decent food and decent service in a semi restaurant/semi pub atmosphere. There are better places in the neighborhood but this is a convenient spot for before or after the movie and a decent enough place to return to from time to time.
Always a great place with terrific food. Christmas Eve had a limited fixed menu. The service was extremely slow for a restaurant that was not full. I hope it was an abnormality and not a sign of things to come.
A working fireplace is great except when it starts to smoke and no one on the staff (including manager) did anything about it except look that direction and then turn away.
Christmas Eve 2018, what a great dinner and a fun experience. What other restaurant can you get kisses from the kitchen by the chef/owner. Thanks Sam, for a very nice evening. The staff was spot on and perfectly attentive. See you soon.
Been a few times; owner and head chef are amazing. Just added on a patio which will be great this summer. Highly recommend
The rib eye steak was cooked to perfection. Unbelievably delicious. Just like the perfectly cooked cod and risotto I had last time.
Entrees of salmon and swordfish were outstanding, as was the bread, creamy tomato soup and crusted shrimp appetizer. Dessert of white cream mousse completed things. Venue on a Saturday night during the Christmas season was cozy and had a seasonal feel to it. I'd recommend the restaurant to anyone who wants a terrific dinner in a special setting. We will be back!
The food was great, our waitress was outstanding but the room was cold. We sat in the room with the fireplace and it was spreading some warmth but the floor area was cold. Need to boost up the temperature on the cold nights.
Very nice food, but I believe the kitchen is understaffed, hence long waits for orders. Mockingbird is a very nice restaurant and in a great location.
The lamb burger was delicious as were the dumplings. My husband had the salmon burger and also loved it. Overall a great neighborhood restaurant with some great selections.
Lovely ambiance, I really wanted to like it. Most of the food had little to no flavor. Out of a party of 4, we found one good entree, the miso salmon.
As always a lovely evening with tasty food and genuine hospitality.
Great all around
The staff were excellent, food was Ok. I started with the ‘frito misto’ of vegetables. I got clumps of greasy vegetables. They should have been fried separately - some were overdone while others not cooked enough. The accompanying Aoli was bland, almost like plain mayonnaise. Main course was the salmon served over rice cooked with peanuts. It was just Ok.
Wonderful food and very pleasant surroundings. Excellent service. Very fresh pasta dish . Fish dish was excellent. Ambiance is excellent.
Food is consistently good. Service is usually much faster but on this particular night our food took over 45 minutes from time ordered to served. The lighting is bright for evening dining- dimming would create warmer ambience.
Really enjoyed teh food and atmosphere - Server was very attentive without being pushy
The setting and menu are lovely, but the service was incredibly slow on a Wednesday night. It was rather cold inside. It took about an hour to get appetizers, which were oysters and dumplings. The oysters were clearly not 'just shucked.'
I was disappointed. 4 of us went to celebrate. It was very loud. Our waitress practically ignored us. The wait for drinks, food etc was very long. The food for the most part was very very good. However my salmon was barely cooked and tasteless. Overall not worth it. I’ve been here other times and it was fantastic. Maybe it’s better to avoid the weekends.
Great night. Thank you to all the staff. The service, food and wine selections were all fantastic. Will be back soon
Entrees were very good, but apps just okay and very modestly sized. Service was good yet not overbearing. As the restaurant filled the volume level became quite loud. Overall, a decent but rather pricy night out for dinner, so lower marks to Mockingbird for value. If one spends a bit more, nearby Arethusa al Tavalo offers a superior experience.
This is our new favorite place in the Bantam to Litchfield area!
We hadn't been there for maybe a year, and were disappointed. The menu selections were sparse. The beet, apple and walnuts salad was 95%+ beets. A little lettuce would have at least added some color. I didn't expect that the seared snapper meant raw snapper with a very hard crust, and would be so difficult to eat. The crust on the chocolate tart was so hard that I thought it was a serving dish. At least the bread was excellent and the server was as well.
Meal was fresh and delicious! We enjoyed our salads and dinner selections!
Martini Cocktails were very well prepared but not “full to the rIm” as you expect a martini to be. Most restaurants will give u a side car. One of our was 3/4 full
We are local residents and believe your renovations are lovely. It looks wonderful.
We look forward to joining you for dinner again soon with friends and our family.
Awesome food in a beautiful spot. Only comment is that the menu on their website was very different when we sat down. Still plenty of great choices, that’s an easy fix. Will go back for dinner for sure.
Mockingbird never disappoints. Great cocktails, beer and wine and a menu that is delicious, fresh yet not overwhelming. We all ordered something different and everyone in our party were very happy. I highly recommend!
