About MoCA Asian Bistro
MoCA, as diners may wonder, stands for Modern Culinary Arts, a blended name that reflects our concept of MoCA Asian Bistro; i.e., a dining facility that blends contemporary style, cozy atmosphere, fine services and authentic Asian foods. Located in Long Island’s Hewlett Shopping Center, MoCA shines like a 1000-watt bulb in a darkened room, eye-catching in the already bustling shopping center. MoCA’s unique and distinctive interior design combines the ambiance of Chinese, Japanese and Thai restaurants. The contemporary decor includes a sleek, studied space, accented in orange and blue, with a soundtrack suitable for a club. As diners enter the huge and heavy glass door, they arrive in the Waiting Area. Adjacent to the Waiting Area is the Modern Bar. Customers can choose from a large selection of top shelf wines and cocktails. While sitting at the bar, patrons are able to watch the big-screen television and/or the chefs as they cook in the glassed Open Kitchen.

MoCA Asian Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The food is great. They serve very fresh seafood. Kudos to the sushi chef. The staff was very friendly. As a matter of fact my server Andy was A1 with a touch of class. I appreciate and will remember whom to request the next go round. We arrived a little early from our scheduled Valentine's Day reservation, we were promptly seated. The place hadn't yet filled up so there was plenty of options as far as seating. We were given a table in the front of the restaurant. At the suggestion of my wife, I asked the hostess if it were possible to take a booth. We were denied. Politely but nonetheless. Not even 3 minutes later another couple whom had just arrived and we're seated at a table asked to be seated in a booth. They were given the courtesy without hesitation. I would say that would be my only complaint. To anyone reading this review don't make my last statement dissuade you from enjoying this establishment. It's great. However know this. Anytime you ask a restaurant to accommodate a simple request, remember that they are not required to say yes. But if it is important them to benefit and collect some of your time and energy, i.e. money. Any reasonable request should be given with praise and humility.
Looked for a last minute dinner the morning of new years eve and MoCA had room for us. Did not know what to expect and turned out to be one of our best dinners. Ever! The menu is interesting and varied. Presentation was creative. Service was pleasant and helpful. Food was outstanding!! Everything was fresh, seasoned perfectly and a sensory experience. We will be back. Often.
Greeting from hostess was not good. Mentioned that reservation was made through open table and was greeted with cold silence as if she was annoyed. Other than that meal was great service was attentive. Atmosphere is great...the wife and I frequent the establishment.
MoCa Asian Bistro was a surprisingly good experience for me and my family. The staff is friendly and professional; the menu is fresh and interesting. I found the sashimi to be fresh and beautifully presented. The sake list is extensive and the drink menu is fun. We had a lovely mothers' day brunch.
This was a new find based on some reviews from opentable and other locations. As you walk in the place has a nice modern feel and booths are cozy. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable about the specials and how they were prepared.
The food was outstanding. We had the Kobe beef app along with a filet roll for dinner, both were superb. all of the fish rolls were fresh and beautifully presented.
We will be back
First time to this MoCa location. I had made dinner reservations online, when we got to the restaurant they didn't have our reservation on file (no biggie) we were seated right away. The drinks were good and the food was exceptional. They gave two big pieces of salmon filet which was appreciated. I will be returning :)
They had my name at the door when we arrived. Perfect!y m bf and I had the sashimi chef special and it was totally worth it! The special rolls are typical buy still tasty. We had sake from a carafe and it came in an awesome bamboo holder. Definitely did not expect this in Hewlett!
This was my second time visiting Moca. The first time was over the holidays. This time, I brought my Mom & Sis for Mother's Day. I enjoyed my meal and the ambiance on both visits. This time, the waiter was not that great but I believe it was a language barrier more than anything. As a result, it put a slight damper on things but I didn't let it ruin my lunch. I would visit Moca again.
We had reservations for two at 7:30 on a weeknight. We were seated at the bar for about 10 minutes before we were seated at our table. The waiter promptly took our drink order but it took nearly 15 minutes to actually be served our drinks. The food order followed the same pattern; prompt attention when
asking for our order but it took quite awhile between being served our appetizers and our entrees. The food was excellent, the presentation also excellent. The background music was a little loud and at times, droning. The decor is pleasant and modern; on par with similar restaurants in NYC. The prices were reasonabe considering the type of food and the menu offered a tremendous selection.
Tuna sandwich (special) sushi was diffeent and good. Had a few rolls that were not the same old same old - place was good and the fish fresh. Service was great - very nice waiter and always checked on me and kept my sodas full. Go - its good, if a little pricey.
