Enviably located in Mid Kensington, close to the Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Gardens, as well as the Victoria & Albert, Natural History and Science Museums.
We serve contemporary and classic British and European dishes with the finest sourcing of ingredients and exceptional value for money. On the menu you will find brasserie classics such as salad nicoise, boeuf bourguignon and steak frites sitting comfortably alongside modern favourites such as burrata with heritage tomatoes, seared peppered tuna and sliced duck breast with ginger and lemongrass.
We serve a mix of traditional and modern cocktails as well as fantastic craft beers brewed and bottled here in London.
Our wine list is rich in hidden gems sitting happily alongside some of the great wines of the world at unbelievable value for money.
Very quiet on a Sunday early evening. Food was excellent and served promptly. Staff were very efficient and friendly.
beautiful restaurant - nice menu options but other better options close by
Early meal before going to Royal Albert Hall. Excellent food and great service.
Had an early dinner on a Sunday night with some friends who were visiting. Restaurant was quiet so nice to be able to chat. Food was good - the special (tuna) was particularly nice. Service was attentive and friendly. Overall a good venue.
Restaurant was quiet, so we got a large table for the two of us near the open doors/window so we could enjoy the view (people watching), whilst enjoying the good value food and wine, on a warm Summers Evening.
We booked based on the reviews on the Open Table site. The look and feel of the restaurant was fine but the food was nothing to write about. Adequate, filled the spot but not to be repeated.
Excellent food which was served promptly as we had to be out for Albert Hall by 6.30. Second visit to MK and would recommend to anyone.
A bit disappointed with steak sandwich. Otherwise all was good.
Bright modern brasserie-style restaurant with tables outside, great for warm days. Very warm welcome, excellent food and attentive service. Very enjoyable overall and we shall be back.
I was very impressed with the fact that the chef had arranged to serve my friend, for her 80th birthday, a chocolate pudding with a candle and that the staff had intended to sing 'Happy Birthday'.
Unfortunately, we were in a rush to get to the Albert Hall (a good 10 minute walk away) and were unable to stay. This was not the restaurant's fault; they even offered that we could come back after the show and have the celebration then. We simply didn't have the time. I offered to pay for the pudding but this was charmingly declined.
The ONLY criticism I have is that when we were ready to order, a waitress was gazing into space and had no interest in looking around at the tables to see if any customers needed attention. This was only one waitress, though; every other member of staff was very attentive.
We visited this restaurant before going to a show at The Royal Albert Hall. It wasn’t very busy but it was early. We chose from the fixed price menu which was very reasonably priced. My mum is a coeliac and they were very helpful with what she could have.
The food was yummy and the service was very good. All in all a very pleasant experience and if I lived nearer I would definitely go again.
This was one of our favorite meals in S. Kensington during our 5 days in London. The food was very good. We had beef stroganoff, ravioli, and carbonara, which were okay, but we especially enjoyed the onion soup and banana cream pie! The wine list was good, with several value priced wines, and the service couldn't have been better!
Well located. Pleasant friendly atmosphere. Good service
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, delicious food and wine, exceptional service, will definitely return in the future.
Had never been there before and booked our reservation online a few days previously. The waitress who greeted us was friendly and efficient without being overbearing or pushy. We ordered drinks and after a few minutes ordered our food.
I was expecting a wait of around 15-20 minutes, but the food arrived within 5-6 minutes, which was a pleasant surprise. The food itself was excellent and a decent portion which made a nice change from the meagre portions I have sometimes experienced in other establishments.
Price wise, it was perhaps a bit more expensive than I am used to in rural Shropshire, but probably standard for a major city.
I would definitely recommend MK Bar and Grill to anyone visiting the area and I'm sure that they would enjoy it as much as I did.
Good food and pleasant outlook, do check the bill, they add 12.5% discretionary service charge Bill does state the staff do benefit but we got mixed messages from the staff.
We booked at 5pm on Wednesday 17th April before seeing Alfie Boe at The Royal Albert Hall. There was no need to book at that time. We were drawn by the menu and the reasonable prices and were not disappointed. I would say it has a menu with something for everyone. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was lovely.
A wide and interesting menu which has plenty of choice for everyone. Food was served promptly and was very tasty. The garlic prawns and the soup did not come with bread - we had to ask - which was a shame. Well positioned for the Albert Hall.
Really lovely waiting staff and good food.
Had booked a table for lunch but was offered seats where people have a drink or tea. Ordered French Onion Soup which had bay leaves left in which we mentioned but they weren't phased. We were thinking of ordering a second course but nobody bothered to come and ask if we wanted anything - we'd had enough by then.
Unfortunately the meal I ordered was cold, and we waited more than 25 minutes for a dessert (which we cancelled in the end) sadly these all happen from time to time but the fact there was no real apology from anyone other the poor waitress who had to face us. does not put the manager or even the supervisors in very good light
Our first visit to this large restaurant which was strangely empty on Valentines Day evening.
The food and service were good and the coffee was excellent.
The staff were friendly but the food was extremely poor so I would never choose to go to MK Bar & Grill again.
Due to the proximity to the RAH and it being a last minute booked we went here.
So everyone was very friendly but they cleared the table and offered dessert whilst some people were still eating their mains - they weren’t that busy so didn’t need the table. The pasta was over cooked and lacked flavour but calamari was ok - just a bit lacking.
If you are looking for place for a large table then this works well.
Food and service was good. The ambience was lacking as the restaurant was quite empty when we visited. But a good place to go before going to see a show at the Albert Hall.
Food was absolutely delicious and good portion sizes. Only gave a 3 star for ambience because we were there early in the evening for dinner before a concert at the Albert Hall so not many people in restaurant. Would definitely recommend for good choice, well cooked delicious food - we will definitely visit again!
Terrible food. It all came suspiciously quickly and then we found out why. The butternut squash soups tasted like packet soup, definitely no real squash used at all, mostly water, and didn't come with bread. The beetroot salad was a few bits of jarred beetroot over packet salad that was tired and wilting. I can't cook but even I can blitz a butternut squash for a soup (the soup OF THE DAY I might add) and roast a beetroot for a salad. Nothing fresh in this place. The service was brilliant though and they were very understanding, but I would never eat here again. Avoid.
Fish cakes arrived & weren’t even lukewarm in the middle, had to send them back, there was no apology whatsoever. My partners food was ok & he had to carry on eating as there was no offer to take his food back until mine was ready. There was no offer of a drink while I waited, no apology at all! The replacement fish cakes were cooked through but our evening had been spoiled.
Wouldn’t bother going back with so many other restaurants in the area .
Service was quick. Food was nicely presented. Duck could have been more tender. Friendly staff.
the service was discreet but pleasant. The food was reasonable without being outstanding. Prices are a little high but that's a problem for Kensington and not necessarily the restaurants....
We had a table at 1730 as we were going to the Albert Hall for a concert. Staff were friendly, efficient & courteous and the service was prompt. Food was delicious although my lime & coriander prawn salad could have had slightly more lime & coriander flavour, but it was delicious all the same. Would recommend especially as its so convenient for the Albert Hall
Finding a restaurant that is convenient for the Albert Hall, reasonably priced (especially for West London) that serves very tasty food with some helpful and friendly staff is a real bonus. Would definitely recommend. We really enjoyed it. Had tequila and lime chicken and boeuf stroganoff. Both good. reasonably priced white wine (picpoul de pinet - a favourite) Big dessert (toffee cheesecake - very nice) we shared it.
A favourite place for a young family - the first place I took my son when he was about 4. A great place to be able to chat, tables nicely set apart.
Perfect pre-theatre supper served by smiley waitresses and only a 5 minute walk around the corner to the Royal Albert Hall.
Comfortable seating and good service. Food was well cooked and tasty and not overpriced esp for the area. Would have liked more wines by the glass and variable sized glasses but otherwise hard to fault for what we wanted and convenient for museums and Royal Albert Hall. Would return.
Lovely food and the service was excellent, we didn't have to wait for pur food at all - we were eating quite early though.
We were booked 10 - 10.30 pm after the concert and it quickly became clear that this was inconvenient for the staff and kitchen. The main objective was to get us through and away so that the staff could go home. Disappointing.
Burrita & carpachio were very good starters. Pasta de Angelo was light and fresh. Beef stroganoff was good...but ordinary.
Very well located for the Royal Albert Hall which is about 7mins walk away two of us went for a pre-concert meal. We both ate from the specials menu, these were tasty and arrived promptly with pleasant service but portions were not large. With two cocktails and a side salad the bill was just less than £60 including tip. I would go again when visiting the Royal Albert Hall.
