I got sick from the food. Service was nonexistent for 15 minutes and the tea was even yucky!
Service was EXTREMELY slow at 4pm despite there only being 4 other tables of people. Waiter was not attentive to any of the tables.
Though the service was a little lax, given the price of the food, we had a nice time. A bit loud and more of a "family" setting than intimate
the hibachi chef was amazing. really good with our kids, and the food was delicious!
We were celebrating an 80th birthday and wanted a quiet setting with something special. Our meal and setting with you was outstanding. Chef was entertaining, the food was great and the experience brought lots of joy to the group.
We were late past our reservation, but they welcomed us and were extremely glad we made it.
Food was delicious !! We loved it and will return !!
Graduation
Our "cook" was entertaining & very accommodating. Waitress was terrible- waited a half hour for menus, forgot drinks, attitude. Food was great.
We arrived at the restaurant and they claimed they did not have our reservation that I had booked through OpenTable so we waited for 30 mins for a table. The service was slow in the beginning but picked up by the end of the night. The food was very good however the staff there seemed very unorganized and a bit chaotic at times!
Portions were fairly sizable, service was quick and correct. Meal was delicious. Cost was very reasonable.
We visited Mizu to celebrate my son's college graduation. Our hibatchi chef was fairly skilled, flipping his utensils, and even caught one behind his back. He cooked everyone's meat to their request, not over cooking my Mother's rare filet. With a sense of humor, he tried to serve it to her barely cooked. We had ordered appetizers, which came out very quickly, but we should have skipped them as our main course was already being prepared, and a couple very large shrimp (or mushrooms, your choice) came with our meal anyway. Portion sizes were good, nobody went home hungry, most of us couldn't even finish our meals.
Food quality was poor. The restaurant and bathrooms felt dirty. Very disappointing experience. Would not go back.
Great food awesome atmosphere and nice staff
Hello I took my wife to dinner at me too restaurant for the first time was told it was an excellent place to eat my wife and I tried it out the food was horrible very small portions very expensive the appetizers way overpriced the food tasted burnt the waitress was rude there was no Ambiance extremely extremely loud inside couldn't even hear my wife needless to say I was very upset definitely will never go there again and we'll never have any of my family members go there I also think on my Facebook feed I'm going to put a note on there about are bad experience thank you have a good day
We came in here after walking out of another restaurant where we were treated rudely. Our server was polite, attentive, and hard working. Just what we needed for a nice dinner with our daughter
I made a reservation for 10'people for 7:30 pm, when I arrived we were told that the resturaunt was overbooked and asked if we could wait a about 15 min. My party said yes and waited. We asked for complimentary drinks for the delay, but never recieved them. We finally left and went to Destiny Mall to Kotos around 8:15. We were never seated. We wont be going there for girls night again😢
So bad. Staff hates the management to the point that they repeatedly told us while serving us New Year's Eve dinner. May want to treat your staff better for better customer service!
Our chef was just "okay" tonight... made zero effor aside from a few initial fire tricks. No sake, no little guy that he squirts to put out the fire, no throwing of food. We go here often & even the kids felt like it was a bit "flat"...
Busy restaurant, I would recommend a reservation. It can get noise closer to the Hibachi tables. Food is great and prices are good for the food served; however, the service was a little slow. It could be that the restaurant was short staffed on that evening.
Chef Jason was very accommodating to our large party of 12 people. Our guests enjoyed the birthday dinner.
The wife has been wanting to go to a Japanese restaurant for a long time - I had been reluctant because I thought it would be very pricey. We decided to go for our anniversary. I was pleasantly surprised, the food was great, the ambiance was fun and the price was reasonable.
We were a party of 4 from Canada, visiting Syracuse for the Graduation Convocation and ate at this restaurant on May 14. It was very busy that evening. We opted for the "a la carte" table where we can order from menu instead of the Hibachi table. I ordered the Seafood Teriyaki which was a bit too salty with too much Teriyaki sauce. My husband ordered the Seafood Udon which was huge. They should charge less ($18) and serve a smaller portion because udon noodle is very heavy. My brother and his wife ordered the X.O. Sea Bass which they shared, with separate order of Miso soup. They seem to enjoy the Sea Bass. We did not order any Sushi or Sashimi because it was a chilly evening. Overall, food was average and pricey but portion was big. This place is quite noisy. Most noise came from the Hibachi tables. Server was friendly and efficient.
Celebrated my sons graduation with my family. Food was delicious and plentiful. Our waitress was over the top accommodating and the festive atmosphere of the hibachi experience made for a fun time. We had a blast!
Food was good, nothing great. The hibachi and the chef , the main reasons I went there was disappointing. Boring and dull, I went to enough Japanese steakhouses before and i usually expect , good time, entertaining and surprise. nothing like that I found in Mizu. it was the first time for my relatives in this kind of restaurant and they are not interested anymore.
Mizu is the nicest place in the Syracuse area for Japanese/Sushi/hibachi! Yes, the hibachi area does get a little rowdy at times, but the table-side chefs are extremely entertaining!
The "upper" dining level is a great place to grab a casual sushi or Japanese entrée lunch or dinner - the food is always first rate and very fresh.
We were a party of 4 and each of us were impressed with our dinners. We all ordered hibachi. The filet minion - excellent taste. The shrimp- awesome. We were also impressed with the serving size. Three of us brought half of our dish home in a box for enjoyment later. We all said, "let's come back!"
PS, attentive server!
Great, fun, group experience. Service was quick and our chef was hilarious.
I saw some reviews about bad service, but the hostess, waitress, and chef were all great. In fact, he may be the funniest habachi chef I've seen; my six year old was totally tickled! Exceeded my expectations and tons of good food with their Sun-Thurs special. The yellowtail sashimi I had was also pretty high quality. Give it a try!
Birthday dinner around hibachi. Chef was entertaining, but difficult to understand.
All the meats basically tasted thecsame, so if you like shrimp, get the shrimp, it was the best by far. Hibachi dinners were 3 courses- soup, salad, entree which included rice or noodles and veggies. Be prepared to be involved in the cooking - chef throws veggies into your mouth, or close to it. ;) The salad dressing was great, and they sell it there for $5/bottle. My family liked it so much, I'm going back to get some.
Each hibachi can serve up to 8 people. They have a party room in back for larger celebrations, but I don't know if there's a hibachi. If you don't want to do hibachi, they have a dining room.
Great service! Never had a restaurant sing and make me shake my booty for my birthday!
Wonderful improvement from the former Koto. Service is great and food is fresh and delicious. Love the salad dressing. Wish they would bring back yum yum sauce instead of the honey mustard.
The chefs in restaurants like this are always entertaining and a hoot to watch. The food was excellent and plentiful. We had a great time and will be back. The only complaint was that the waitress was a bit slow on delivering the check, but I chalk that up to it being a busy night and don't blame her for forcing me to kick back and relax a few extra minutes.
Great attentive service, reasonable prices, excellent food! I can't wait to go back😜
There are two people in particular that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience. They have fun with the customers with flare, finesse , mostly adult humor, but they feed off of your energy. The server named John and the cook named Jay will both show you a great time ,wether you want your night to be calm and relaxed or wild and just getting started, they will adjust and make it memorable...10/10 highly recommend this place and these individuals. If you are looking for your own (Drake's "Sotto Sotto") restaurant....I have made this place mine.
Mizu is a great, casual restaurant in a very classy setting! Raw selections were fresh and beautifully presented. Menu includes hibachi, sushi and classic menu items like teriyaki, and many interesting choices.
The people at an adjacent table who arrived after us were served well before us, and the waiter seemed to have an attitude like we were annoying him when we brought this up. Otherwise it was an enjoyable celebration.
Sushi was fresh and imaginative. Ginger dressing is notable/ tasty. I would definitely go back and order sushi and salad, but skip the hibachi meal. The hibachi dinner was very average. Surprisingly , the low point of that mean were the vegetables. They were bland and limp, and really the reason for the overall 4 rating. The sauce in the hibachi dinner was also overly sweet, making me feel like I was eating something unhealthy.
I have been to many Japanese steak houses over the years and have come to expect a certain level of quality and quantity ( and price). Mizu surprised me on all three levels. The food was expertly prepared at our table with some of the finest and freshest ingredients I have ever had in a hibachi dinner. Sunday through Thursday Mizu had a dinner special for $17.99 that allows you to pick 2 ingredients for your dinner for example steak and chicken or shrimp and extra vegetables. This is an outstanding value and well worth the visit.
This was our first time to Mizu. It is a stand alone restaurant on a busy road with good parking onsite. We waited a few minutes despite our reservation but it wasn't too long. We had a party of 8 so we took the entire grill table, which was nice. The food was served promptly, and the chef did the usual food show (tossing veggies into your mouth, onion volcano, etc.) which was fun. Notably, the servings were VERY generous for the price and tasty.
All of our sushi rolls were great. They each had a wonderful presentation and distinct taste. We tried the roll which included the lobster that our waitress suggested and was very pleased. The rice dishes and desserts were also superb. We would definitely go back again.
Brought my son and family here for son's 18th birthday celebration. Everybody from our 95 year Nana to my 7 year old loved the food, hibachi entertainment, and atmosphere. Great place for a family celebration. Sushi appetizers were scrumptious and good sized. They also have weeknight happy hour appetizer/sushi and drink specials that a couple sitting with us had been to and said were great. Excellent experience. Will come again.
