About Miyama Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar
In Japan, the word Miyama means 'beautiful mountain'. Here in Colorado, it translates into a memorable dining experience in a striking aura of Japanese tradition and decor. The ambience is stepped in history-everywhere you look, you will see rare Japanese antiques and artifacts, including 200 year-old Samurai armor and priceless Japanese 'Tansu' chests. The traditional element of Miyama's decor and cuisine is further enhanced by servers wearing brilliantly colored Kimonos. Whether, you enjoy world class sushi in the Sushi Bar and Lounge; or, prefer dining on premium steak and seafood while being entertained by the Teppan Chef at one of the sixteen 'habachi'tables, Miyama guarantees a memorable dining experience for the entire family, where children are welcomed with a special kids menu and private dining rooms are available for special occasions. **Please note that you are booking for Teppan seats. Please contact the restaurant directly for Sushi reservations**

Miyama Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar Ratings and Reviews
We have been several times and had a wonderful time. This visit was disappointing. We serveeureeves our own water. It took more than an hour after our reservation to get food and no separate drink order wS taken, The salmon was served before the vegetables. Then the other seafood, and finalky the meat at the end. For dessert they brought out all vanilla ice cream. There was birthday (mine) and no singing.
I had made reservations for a party of 8 for 8 pm on New Years Eve about a month prior to the occasion. We waited until almost 930 to be seated and almost 1030 for the cook to come out and start cooking. When the cook finally came to the table, he apologized and stated that they were extremely short of help. Come on Miyama, plan ahead. Everyone knows that days like that are always busy. I was very disappointed.
We had a 7:30 reservation and were seated 40 minutes later at 8:10. I understand it was New Years Eve and they were very busy, but there was no explanation or apology from the staff. The food was great as was the service once we were seated. I would eat here again on a less busy night.
We come here regularly for celebrations and when the kids are in town because we always have a good time and the food is very good.
Sadly, tonight was very disappointing. Overcrowded, understaffed, and the food was less than stellar, some of it undercooked and some entirely without seasoning. Clearly our chef was in a hurry and our waitress brought take home boxes minutes after the food was on our plates. This is not what we’ve come to expect here, particularly after a 30 minute wait for our reservation, another 20 before our order was taken, and another 20 before the chef came to the hibachi.
Granted it was New Years Eve, but we’ve learned our lesson and will just stay home in the future.
We had a reservation and there was still a 15-20 min wait. I suppose it’s because they need to clear tables, but there is a lack of communication from the hostess station that explains that reasoning. Food was wonderful, chef was excellent, service was good. The New Years menu included chocolate cake, but we were given chocolate candy...even our server laughed at how ridiculous it was.
It is usually a very good restaurant. They were just not on pointe this time! Cooking was sloppy, some stuff was over cooked, salty. Our waitress was pretty much non existent, when she was around, she didn't know what was going on. It is my favorite Hibachi restaurant in SE Denver. I always recommend it.
Celebrated our Business team lunch, and had a nice experience overall. We opted to have lunch in the lounge area, instead of the hibachi grill, as there was already a large party in the room, and was pretty loud. Definitely a great place if you have a large group and want to have some fun. Lunch was very good, with some appetizers first and then each of us ordering a Bento box type of lunch. The food was overall very good, and everything fresh when served. The service was a bit strange, as we had not only the Front Desk Host serving us, but also a regular server. It was confusing on who really was responsible for our table. We did have a confusion on one the orders, but they happily took it back and quickly made the correct item and delivered it hot and fresh. Overall, a very good experience for lunch and would definitely recommend it and will visit again.
A couple of helpful hints, first no Open Table reservations were needed to sit in the lounge, where you can order from the regular menu, it’s open seating. And second, the hibachi area is where a chef prepares the food for you and provides the entertainment, this is a very loud and fun area, so if you are looking for a place for conversation, take a place in the lounge.
Miyama is always so much fun when we go. The cooks all do a great job and make sure we have everything we need. My mom is allergic to shellfish and they always prepare whatever she eats first so that there is nothing contaminated. They cook to order and it's always perfect.
They were very accommodating, allowing me to add more people to our original reservation. We were there to a celebrate a birthday and it was a surprise party. They hostess was excellent. She had everyone in place and ready before we arrived with the birthday boy. Food was good and we all had a lot of fun. I think our waitress was a little overwhelmed, but we did have 17 people in our party. We come here a few times a year and always enjoy the hibachi grill and sushi.
Our "chef" was awful, got entire meal wrong. People who ordered chicken got steak, no shrimp, completely messed up. I had to leave early and asked for my food to be made to go. I left my credit card with a friend to pay. Apparently they forgot my to go order and started throwing others food in the box. I ordered a kids meal just to go, she wasn't with us and they didn't bring it. Others added food to a box.
This place was amazing. The only thing was we got shrimp with our combination meal. We only wanted the chicken teriyaki and steak filet. Only wanted that plus the soup, salad and vanilla ice cream. The waiter didn't inform the cook no sea food at all. Not sure if we got charged extra for that. Times are hard couldn't pay rent, thank goodness for a gift certificate from family for $75.00. But still a great place. Hope my husband and I can get caught up on bills to come there again. Miss Miami too.
As usual, the food was amazing. They have THE BEST sushi! We decided last minute to sit in the bar area because the game was on and found the service to be a little slow. The waitress would disappear so we waited and waited and waited for our drinks to be refilled. Then we waited for our dishes to be cleared. The other diners around us were having the same services issues, some complained, we just watched the horrible service show. We will definitely go back, but maybe not on a busy weekend night.
