The food was rly good, although the there weren't many people in there. It might do better if there were some outdoor seating.

The food was excellent! Great extraordinary flavors. Loved the food. Guacamole was the best we've had.

Noise level is pretty high in the main room by 6:30 or 7:00 on a Saturday night. (Apparently, it is much better on weekdays.) Overall, the food was a stand-out, one step beyond.
The servers know what to recommend.

The food was good but good enough to merit what was charged. We were a party of three and all ordered the special and we shared an order of guacamole and a dessert. The bill was over $50.00 a piece. A bit bit pricey for a BYOB. The special was $10 more than other entrees. Our fault for not asking.

We went to Mixteco for Father's Day. We had heard good things about it for years. Now we know why! 4 people, 4 entrees. Best was Pollo en Mango--wow. Second was Borrego en Mole--lamb chops. Also carne asada, enchiladas en mole were very good. Service was very attentive. Dining room has great Oaxacan art and beautiful colors. The menu was a little difficult for our unadventurous 15-year-old. We considered asking them to do some basic chicken tacos but we didn't--I would try that if you have a picky eater. We'll be back for sure!

Mixteco is one of my favorite Chicago restaurants. The food is absolutely delicious and some of the most authentic food you can get in Chicago. I highly recommend the enchiladas mole. The service is always outstanding and I love that it is BYOB.

When I first got there - the host were so rude and told me I missed my 6:00pm reservations - I told them my reservations were 7:00pm - he said no - I had to locate my reservation - I showed them and he said oh - ok, there were two Roberts - I let it go to enjoy my BFF birthday party and happy I did.

We have been to Mixteco many times over the years (even before they opened up the back room) and have never had a bad meal there. Their sauces are boss! We recommend getting a reservation because it can get packed. It is also quite noisy and the food can sometimes come a little too quickly for our tastes (we want to chill with our wine a bit). A great BYOB!!

This was our second visit to Mixteco. Our first was extraordinary. The food was made with care and creativity. Squash blossoms really tasted like blossoms. We were excited to return. This visit was a bit of a disappointment. Everything was just a little bit...messy. The chips were soggy (we sent back one basket, and got another, not any crispier), the appetizer (Empanadas) was filled with overcooked indistinguishable contents. The tamale de chile relleno got swamped by toppings, and, again, didn't seem to have noteworthy contents. My friend's lamb looked lovely, and she was pleased. And it was LOUD. SO loud that I installed a sound monitoring app on my phone just to see how loud it was: 73 DB. Service continues to be excellent, though they checked twice to see if we were really the people who had claimed our reservation. I hope this was just an off night for them. We'll try again.

What looks like a neighborhood corner restaurant offers superb food. Definitely not the taco-burrito place. Sophisticated recipes, interesting dishes, truly excellent. Friendly service. The only possible drawback for margarita lovers is the lack of liquor license. On the other hand BYOB does make the total expense a lot smaller.

Ask your server for the daily specials!

I wish the place was a bit quieter: tables are not far from each other, and while the overall noise level allows conversation, it is sometimes a bit of strain to hear. Which makes people talk LOUDER, which makes the overall noise level a bit higher ... Still much quieter than most Bucktown restaurants. All said, I am very willing to strain my ears to satisfy my palate, and the food is truly very good.

wonderful food by ex-sous chef from Frontera Grill, restaurant seating is a little crowded yet still enjoyable. byob with no corkage fee adds to the enjoyment

12 of us gathered for brunch. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious! Every one left saying "I'll come Back." I've eaten there several times and have always had a good experience.

Creative Mexican cuisine with very fresh ingredients. Vegetarians, pescetarians, and carnivores all can find something at this BYOB! Service and food and ambience are terrific! We love Mixteco Grill and recommend it for brunch on weekends and for dinner whenever open! Street parking is usually available.
