Great, authentic food. Service was great to make up for slow food service. Receiving orders was a little slow but it’s clearly a family run joint that was just busy on a Saturday night.
Fish is fresh though portions are small. We waited over 1 hour for our sushi to come on a Saturday night when the restaurant is 70% full.
Had great expectations based on the reviews and found food just OK.
Pretty good food, very reasonably priced, but service was very slow.
Great food, a little pricey but the quality, flavor, freshness, and authenticity make for an occasional splurge.
Excellent Japanese food. Service is a little slow, but very courteous.
Tosh is the man! The sushi is top notch and sushi chef Tosh makes the experience so much better. Sit at the bar!
Always a great place to eat at! One of OC's secret Japanese restaurants.
Quite the surprise, the food was excellent. We will definitely become regulars. My wife and I loved it!
Visited Mitsuyoshi for business lunch. Nice variety of traditional Japanese meals.
I have Kaisen don (seafood bowl), and it was very authentic including sushi rice.
The food was great as always. The service was good and the restaurant was great for get togethers.
Mitsuyoshi is our go to place for special occasions at work such as birthdays, business dinners, entertaining visitors, etc. The food is great! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
This was our 3rd visit and it has been good food and service. This time the service was very poor. We arrived at opening time for dinner and only two tables were occupied. My food came at about 20 minutes but it took about 20 more minutes for my husbands dish. Another waitress filled our water glasses and asked what dish we're waiting for. She did not return with a status. My husband had to get up to inquire. It finally came, I had completed my dish. I asked for extra nappa, and was charged an extra 3.80. That was a bit much for getting so little. I will try this restaurant again because of the food. If the service is still poor, I will not go back.
We had a large group of 11 adults and 2 kids. It was wonderful! Great service. Fantastic food. A nice private room so we can visit. When our family comes to visit from Phoenix, this is a must go to restaurant. One of our favorite places this eat! We highly recommend eating here!
Don't like the service of this visit. It depends on who serves, some waitress are quite nice.
Always been a favorite of mine because of the the authentic cuisine and staff.
We were there to celebrate my mother's 87th birthday. Even though we made this reservation over a month ago, they were not prepared for us and initially wanted to put our group of nine at two separate tables that were in two different rooms divided by a screen. Finally we were able to squeeze into another table that allowed us to sit together. They should not take 1:30 reservations since they close at 2:00 and clearly wanted us out. The food is good, one of my mother's favorite restaurant, but we were very disappointed by the experience. Even asking for ice was a big deal. Big disappointment.
This a great Japanese restaurant. They aren't the fancy fusion place with a million different rolls. Its good Japanese home cooked comfort food. The kind of food your grandparents would make.
Dinner was really nice, group of 8 no problem. Was a Birthday for two, great get together. Food excellent
The sushi chef...Toshi was great and pleasant
Very good food and the service was good as well. I highly recommend this restuarant for authentic good tasting Japanese cuisine.
Food is usually very good and service is questionable. This time it was horrible and completely unacceptable . We received one if the appetizers an hour after we ordered it and towards the end of our meal. It was their version of stuffed jalepenos which was disappointing. The waitress is always bad, forgetful and extremely slow, but she outdid herself this time. My nabeyaki udon was horrible and salty! I make it better myself at home. Very disappointing!!
When we finally got out food it was great but it took nearly an hour for 2 sushi rolls. Gave up and went somewhere else.
The food was wonderful. This is my favorite restaurant. Everyone loved their dinner.
Food is OK service is good
We lived in Fremont, CA and we cannot find a authentic Japanese restaurant that like this one. I wish we live close by so that we can have meals in this restaurant all the time.
Mitsuyoshi continues to be our favorite Japanese restaurant in SoCal. Not happy with the $2.00 charge for hot tea.
Wait staff was friendly, but service was terrible. Long wait for food. 4 in our party. Nobody was severed at together, at least 5 minutes delay for each person, bringing only one person's dinner at a time. 20 minutes elapsed between first person until last person's dinner was served.
WE ALWAYS ENJOY THE FOOD/MENU AT MITSUYOSHI. THIS LAST EXPERIENCE WAS DISTRACTED WITH LESS THAN EXCELLENT SERVICE. OUR WAITER WAS AN UNDER AGED YOUNG MAN WHO COULD NOT SERVE ALCOHOL BEVERAGES AND WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE APPETIZERS. WE HAD TO ASK THREE TIMES FOR HOT TEA AND DIAKON. I LEFT A 10% GRATUITY, WHICH IS HALF OF WHAT I TYPICALLY LEAVE FOR A DINING EXPERIENCE LIKE THIS.
Servers were friendly and courteous but extremely slow!!!!!!!! We had to ask three times for water. Our dinner took forever to arrive. Our bill took forever to arrive. The restaurant was empty so we're not sure why the service was so poor. The food was good but not worth the wait.
They did not bring wasabi with sushi and charged $2.00 for Japanese tea which was tea bag.
Had to wait 10 minutes for reception desk to be staffed to even be asked about reservation. AC was not working. Waited a long time for service. Kitchen was slow and dinners were served separately and incompletely. Food however was very good. Would probably give them another try because of the food. But if there isn't an improvement, would probably give it up.
This restaurant has always been our first choice to eat Japanese food. Close to home, good food, good dining environment. This is to entertain visiting relatives and celebrate Father's Day. We ordered Chiliean Seabass Shaikyoyaki, Sashimi Salad, Tempura Udon and Box Bento and a few side dishes for lunch. Host and guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
這家餐廳一向都是我們想吃日本料理的首選。離家近、食物佳、用餐環境好。這次是為招待來訪親戚並慶祝父親節。我們點了Chiliean Seabass Shaikyoyaki, Sashimi Salad, Tempura Udon and Box Bento 和一些小菜for午餐。 賓主盡歡。
Good Japanese food. Great that it was owned and servers were Japanese. Some prices were high but good quality
Mitsuyoshi is a welcome respite from all of the fad trendy sushi and poki places opening every week, !Authentic sushi and japanese food served in the traditional fashion.
The food was good but nothing stood out. I would like to go back and try something the chef feels is their stand out item.
We usually love this restaurant, but our experience on this visit was horrible. The young server that sat us asked if we had any questions about the menu. I asked about the specials and she said that she would get someone else to explain it because she didn't know what they were. Why would she ask if we had any questions if she didn't have any answers? She got our drink orders incorrect twice and all we asked for was tea and water (there were only 3 of us). We waited for 15 minutes before someone else took our order. After he took our order, we never saw him again. After waiting another 45 minutes, the young female server came to our table to let us know that the restaurant was closing. What?!! We still hadn't even received our meals! When I told her that, she said that she would check on the kitchen. Seriously?!! 10 minutes after that, our food finally came out. We weren't even hungry anymore. We had waited for over an hour to get our food. We just took everything to go. I understand being busy, but trying to kick people out before they've even gotten their meals is completely unacceptable. So very disappointed.
Took my wife out for Mother's Day dinner last Saturday. They were not that busy but keep messing up our orders. My wife was craving for sushi and they kept checking on it for a good 30 minutes and after the dinner being over an hour and a half we decided to just cancel the sushi and left. Was very excited to go there based on the reviews but will not be coming back. They need to train the servers how to do their service better.
Authentic Japanese restaurant, run by real Japanese-American family. If you've eaten in Japan, you will understand what this is important to the quality of food and the dedication to their art of preparation and respect.
Great food but it took over an hour to get our sushi! We had reservations for 2 people at 8pm on a Friday. It didn't seem super busy but the waitress kept telling us how busy it was as we waited after ordering from the sushi menu..and waited. We finally got our 5 sushi rolls at 9:30, after asking what was happening at 9pm (so busy! Sorry!) They closed at 10 so we scarfed it down as they mopped around us. I think it was good food but I have no idea, since I was starving and wolfed it down!
