   I called in 2 weeks ago for kaiseki dinner, but the guy answering the phone did not write it down. Even though the lady apologized and gave us 10% discount, this was for my son's 18th birthday dinner and he was looking forward to it. Very disappointed. We also waited somewhat long for regular dinner after placing order.

   The four of us had the kaiseki meal, and it was absolutely delicious. One plate after the other, we loved the taste, the textures, and creative combinations that respected the tradition but gave it some twist, like the delightfully crunchy granulated wasabi, or perfectly integrated mini tomato and spinach in the soup, or unagi rice to close, or a matcha tiramisu. The broth for the beef or the urchin over custard were as good as it gets. What a treat! We were surprised that it was rather easy to get a reservation. It must be the location away from the beaten track. This restaurant is clearly a well-kept secret.

   Tantalizing tasting menu and terrific service, but served in a room with an old, dirty carpet with a big rip in it, and a wall with a giant crack from ceiling nearly to the floor. What happened to this restaurant? It used to be one of the most gorgeous and delicious for fine dining.

   We were in Palo Alto for Stanford parents weekend and enjoyed the quiet ambiance and excellent service. High quality sushi and fun sukiyaki option. We could actually have a conversation! I’m not sure why this restaurant is getting mixed reviews. It’s confusing. My friend who is a local speaks highly of this restaurant as well. I’m so glad I listened to her and ignored the reviews.

   Food although tasty was overpriced. The sukiyaki hot pot had ONE piece of Toft and ONE Brussels sprout cut in Half! Good portion of meat and good broth. Portion very minimal. Hours of operation not convenient

    The restaurant looks seedy and the food is mediocre. Will not be going back. Pricy too. A $30 corkage fee was charged while the restaurant did not provide a list of wine. Just white and red!

    First, they accepted a reservation for 7:15pm and when we arrived they informed us that the kitchen closes at 7:30pm. The wallpaper was ripped, the carpet smelled and the table was sticky. The sushi was mediocre. The black cod was tasty but very small. The waiter was friendly but not attentive- despite only having two tables. We will DEFINITELY not return. Not sure how this had such high ratings on open table.

    We got the tasting menu, the website said (when we booked was $125), but the actual price is $150. The good: 3 pieces sashimi and Uni on top of the steam egg. I really didn't expect they actually serve Sukiyaki for $150 tasting menu (not even wagyu beef), mostly cooked food. If you are thinking the high end tasting menu, you might be disappointed.

    Three of us girls got together for the lunch. The restaurant is located in the shopping center, so it was very easy to park. The lunch was relaxing and not rushed.

    I’m sorry but the ambiance was terrible compared to the food. Got kaiseki prix fixe. Three waiters were in jeans. We got disposable chopsticks and plastic cups to drink sake. For five of us we paid over $1k.

    We were pleasantly surprised to find out how great the food is here. They easily have some of the more delicious sushi-grade fish in the area. If you just came across this place without knowing anything about it, it would be easy to make bad assumptions about the place based on it's location and outside appearance, but we went there because the reviews were great and the food photos looked amazing. We were not disappointed. If you haven't been here, go. The sushi is great! The only things I wish were better is a more expansive menu (it's a low number of options for a sushi place in this area), and a better menu in general. If people could see more photos of the food while ordering, they'd order more - for sure!

    First-class sushi and small plate items served by staff who are friendly, helpful, and pay just the right amount of attention to diners. On the evening we went for dinner, they were out of some of the appetizers on the menu, but the o-makase ("let the chef choose") sushi was a wonderful assortment. Subtle flavors, just the amount of rice under each item. The meal came with a braised tofu appetizer that was outstanding and a delicious piece of cheesecake for dessert. Strongly recommended!

    Very poor food quality for the price. Some cooked food was not even warm. I'd probably get better sushi and dishes at a food court nearby. The server was very kind but that was about it.

    The breadth of the menu has been impacted by our pandemic times, but the food has not. Melt in your mouth hamachi, don't miss the sea urchin chawanmushi or the black cod. Service has flagged a little compared to the before times, but very acceptable. Definitely worth a trip despite the bland shopping center location. It's an oasis.

    Huge disappointment, made worse as we had naively believed it was the continuator of Kaygetsu's great food and service: it is instead the antipodes. Small ho-hum miso soup; then omakase featuring nigiri worse than off-the-shelf at Safeway--tasteless, tired, suspect. Some sort of prawn that had no meat at all but antennae that slipped under the sushi on a plate and nearly choked one diner. Store-bought cheesecake to top it off. Servers take no notice of abundant abandoned bits, which means they probably know quite well how bad it all is. No wonder hardly anyone there on a weekend. Don't risk it.

    A hidden gem! Delicious 7 course kaiseki and my mom said it was the best meal she had ever had in her life. Left very full, but not feeling heavy. The ingredients were so fresh. It was like you could taste the story that the chef was writing. Just amazing!
