Mitch's on El Paseo Prime Seafood Ratings and Reviews
The food was outstanding, though a little pricey. However, it was difficult to enjoy dinner due to the excessive noise level--it was almost impossible to have a conversation. So everyone had to talk very loud to try being heard.
Instead of a metal ceiling, the restaurant should perhaps install some acoustical material to help absorb the sound.
I'm not a "foody", but know when I like the meal. Great outdoors dining room, with heaters everywhere if you need them. Very attentive staff and service. Though I had a steak rather than sea food, I did sample fish and scallops, both delicious, with my companions. Restaurant was completely full and buzzing, but for older people who need a lower noise level, their outdoor space is perfect. Tables spaced adequately, conversation level low enough to be able to enjoy your companions without shouting. I'm not a wine drinker, but the bar drinks were generous and promptly served. As I said, not a foody, but I'll be back there often.
Excellent menu, especially the seafood choices. Top notch service. Great outdoor seating. Only unfortunate part of the evening was a raucous crowd at a table of at least 12, party animal situation. Table that size and festive spoiled the ambiance for many others. Perhaps a less central table is appropriate for that sized group.
We were very impressed with Mitch's Restaurant. We were there with another couple and we all ordered something different. All meals were excellent. Our server, Jody, was outstanding in her job. She was very sociable and professional. We ended in the lounge with live music. I don't know the name of the twosome playing classic rock and blues music but they inspired us to get up and dance. I would recommend this restaurant and will be back.
Mitch's is excellent for seafood . And although seafood is their specialty, they also have a wonderful non seafood menu. We have eaten there several times and have never been disappointed. Their bar is inside with most of the dining seating outside on the patio under a huge awning. They close during the summer. The sea bass is heavenly and the rack of lamb superb. Upscale dining at it's best.
Mitch's on El Paseo has never been a disappointment! My most recent visit was very pleasant in every way. The food is beautifully prepared and presented as well as being tasty. The staff is always courteous and attentive. A place you will enjoy and will want to return to!
Fresh oysters on the half shell were good although selection was mixed - one variety was VERY SMALL. TNT Roll was excellent - crisp and seasoned perfectly. Duck breast entree was actually breast, thigh and leg - not bad but not as described on the menu. Broiled Shrimp and scallops were very good, more broccoli and less carrots than expected but overall satisfying. Service attentive and sometimes too quick to clear.
Mitch’s was recommended by friends who have a refined palate. We found the venue to be very pleasant with the outdoor seating adding a nice touch.
Several of our party felt the steak was excellent. Those of us who had the sushi were not so impressed. I found the sushi to be mediocre and well below expectations.
Dessert was nicely prepared and cocktails were good.
Service was a bit slow and somewhat inattentive.
Overall good place for steak and nice ambiance.
The Sticky Rice with Tuna is our favorite, along with the Beet Salad, for starters, but all sushi selections are awesome, as well. Then, the entrees...so many excellent selections from seafood dishes to duck, beef, pasta, etc. We really appreciated the friendly and efficient service team on our table. We were seated at the least desirable outside table location, right near where the servers bring out the food, but we still enjoyed the evening! Highly reccommend this restaurant to any visitors in the Palm Desert area.
This was our first visit to Mitch's and we were impressed. The setting on the outside patio was great, our server, Jodi, was amazing and the food was even better! All four of us ordered seafood and it was well presented and perfectly prepared. We will be back!
Everything was very good. The Filet was tasteless and dry and the mushroom sauce on the side was very heavy and rich. Lobster, shrimp cocktail were excellent. Ceviche was outstanding and so was the California roll. We will go back but I will order the Rib Eye next time
