Mitch's on El Paseo Prime Seafood Ratings and Reviews
Disappointed with quality of lobster. Very dry. Sushi was good as was salmon. Overpriced for what you get. A few of our chairs were partially on patio and partially in the rocks towards the grass - very wobbly and uncomfortable. Waitress was nice but nothing special.
First time visit and enjoyed a great dinner. Actually, we ordered five appetizers to share: gazpacho w/shrimp, shrimp tempura, shrimp & lobster martini, spicy bbq shrimp and a dozen Kumamoto oysters on the half shell. All were outstanding and they gave us a great sampling of what Mitch’s has to offer. Our waiter/sommelier helped us pair them with a great bottle of Pinot Noir. We ate outside under the back canopy and the propane heaters helped take the edge off of the light chill in the air. All in all a wonderful evening, and we look forward to the opportunity to go back.
Even if you show up without reservations during the busy season, the owners who are the maitre d's go out out of their way to be helpful in finding a table. No attitude whatsoever. My favorite part is the outdoor setting has a large grass lawn which makes it feel so open. There are plenty of heat lamps to make even winter dining lovely. And the food is always good, service friendly.
I always love coming here. Great food!! On Saturday, I had Chilean Sea Bass (first time eating that fish)...DELICIOUS! I am going back to have it again! Everything at our table was great! We will continue to bring friends here. One couple had never been (they loved it), we brought the other couple back after taking them there for the first time. They wanted to go back! Going to bring my sister next. I told her about the sea bass, now she wants to have it!
We were quite impressed with the quality of food for this large restaurant in Palm Desert. The outdoor patio was very pretty with the lights and the way the tables were set up. It was a bit cooler that evening and and they had plenty of heaters set up around the tables. Only complaint is that the Dover Sole was not hot when it arrived but it is a thin piece of fish and cools quickly. The other fish served came very hot. The prices were steep but the portions very ample. We look forward to coming again and trying out the sushi, or sitting in the cool looking bar and trying out some of their signature cocktails!
We had a great meal with friends from out of town at Mitch's. This is one of our favorite places to eat in the desert. It was Halloween, a Tuesday night and the restaurant was pretty quiet. We sat outside. Dinner was a shared sushi roll, seafood entrees and dessert. Everything was terrific. It was Tuesday/half price wine night so we got to try a new Pinot Noir from the wine list after speaking with the sommelier.
The outside dining area is really pretty and interesting. And at least on this evening, it was nice and quiet---no loud music, or loud people. This allowed us to really enjoy the food, conversation and company.
I'm sorry to say that for all of the times I have wanted to love Mitch's, I have yet to love Mitch's. Nothing is ever great. And some things are awful. They never get the steak cooked correctly. The crab legs are often dry and overcooked and they never give you the whole leg. The joint is not what anyone is paying for. The oyster selection is weak at best, and not varieties that are typically beloved. The wait staff, though charming and quick, don't even know what type of oysters they've served you because they have no method. The patio is beautiful and romantic unless you're there towards the end of the day when they start folding tables all around you. It is a beautiful location and a very pale attempt at a fine seafood restaurant
Although everyone very nice, hostess attempted to give us WORST table in the restaurant and we had reservations! Both salads came with zero dressing and were suppose to be tossed. Very boring steak salad. Lettuce, tomato, steak and dried onion topping.
Mitch's is always the perfect choice for group dining, date night, or special occasion. There is something on the menu for everyone, yet the menu is not overwhelming. The quality is superb and the owners take pride in their restaurant and make effort to have relationships with the locals and strangers. Don't be surprised if you see a few celebrities in from time to time there as well during the season.
So glad to have Mitch’s open again for the season, we love this place. One of the best restaurants in the Coachella Valley. The appetizer list is wonderful and huge, just be careful to not get too full. We will be back often, great food, cocktails and service! Live it!
Dinner at Mitch's is a must whenever we get to the desert. The truffle lobster and shrimp fried rice needs to be on the table no matter what else we order. The seafood is fresh, the service is friendly and attentive, the portions are satisfying and the management always makes us feel welcome..
We had the most amazing meal of our vacation. Dining outdoors under the moon n mountains was magical. We ordered handmade sushi 🍣 which was unbelievable and sea bass to die for. All was overseen by Mitch who shared a story from our hometown. We will never miss coming here when we return to the dessert. ♥️🌹
Just an outstanding evening. First time at Mitchs and was not disappointed. Sat outside on the patio and the ambiance was perfect. Had the best Chilean sea bass I have ever had!!!! Phenomenal. Not the least expensive Resteraunt in the valley, but you get what you pay for, well worth it. Will return again for sure.
