Great Kusshi oysters and prosecco!
Everything was really good, except the server was taking really long with the bill, our Uber was waiting outside for five minutes. I had to stand up and ask for the bill twice.
We didn't stay for our reservation, the restaurant smelled bad (dirty) and we couldn't get over that.
No host to greet us. Many guests waited a long time after us to be greeted. Insufficient wait staff personnel, compounded by their poor service skills. The wait personnel were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. There were only 3 of us for dinner. I finished my dinner before our 3rd guest was served his entree!!! Inexcusable. They forgot his appetizer: a simple oyster shooter. Although the waiters were apologetic; they were completely forgetful. My entree came out in 25 minutes; the 2nd entree came out 15 minutes later; the third entree came out another 25 minutes later! This really happened!!!! The cooks were in such a hurry that they OVERSALTED all the entrees. If it hadn't taken so long for our food, we would have sent it back. What happened here???
The oysters were fantastic. The other dishes were good, but a bit disappointing in comparison
I truly enjoy every visit to Mission Street Oyster Bar; their are several oysters options and they are fresh and shucked well. I generally come for the local Dungeness, which on my latest visit was huge and roared up all buttery and garlicky. The space is loud and a bit cold, but the service is friendly and attentive and that makes up gif it.
The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
My hopes were high for this restaurant given that the owner was the chef at Anchor Oyster Bar. The crab and oysters were great, but the service was terrible and the place was not very clean. It was also very expensive, and small things like bread were not included. If I'm going to drop $150, I'd sure like free bread. Too bad, as there is a lot of potential for this restaurant.
Fabulous raw selection. My trout was a little overdone - my guests meal was a thicker fillet and he thought it was better. The vegetables accompanying the dinner were excellent. In all - I'd return for the raw bar.
The oysters were good, the garlic bread was good.
The clam chowder tasted like Campbells. The crab cakes were overdone and didn't have enough crab. The house made tartar sauce - not pleasant.
The cioppino. For the love of god do not get it if you respect seafood. Absolutely tasteless. The clams and mussels were not cleaned well - read:gritty - AND they were over cooked, as were the prawns. The broth was so bland. It broke my heart, despite the twelve sprigs of thyme in our serving.
Totally overpriced. Would not recommend except for oysters.
Great seafood and service! On the more expensive side, but the food is worth it.
My teen and I were seeing a play in the area. We arrived early and of course were eager to dine in the Mission. I found this place on OpenTable. It was nearby so we made the reservation and walked over. It was an excellent decision. The two staffers were fun and energetic, the oysters and other seafood was wonderful and that garlic bread? WOWWWWW!!!! They were not lying about that! The seafood was fresh and well-cooked. The veggies were under-seasoned but it's the seafood we came for, and the seafood we will return for. It was such a wonderful meal that we couldn't finish it all and were ready for a nap at showtime!! Great experience and I will be heading back with friends very soon!
Service fair. Food for what you got, was expensive. Garlic crab was just OK.
I go there for the clam dinner. Great broth and the garlic bread is fantastic. The dinner could have more clams as a dinner entre
the food was good... a bit high for what we got but good. I did feel like we were being a bit rush after dinner to leave. the wait staff was friendly.
Great find in the Mission!
I was looking for a spot in the Mission to take my daughter to after a show at the Victoria theater. This one came up in Open Door and we gave it a try. Everything from the Crab/Avocado salad through the seared Ahi tuna was great. Special thanks to attentive server Mel who saw to it that I got both sauces for the Ahi. I preferred the avocado one, but that's just me!
First time here. Good selection of fresh oysters. We also had an open faced crab sandwich and a crap and shrimp sandwich. Both were good but my partner thought the open faced sandwich was on the rich side.
This place is good for oysters and oysters only .Great fresh oysters -$1,50 each at the Happy hour before 6 pm. We had dozen of the oysters, 2 cups of clam chowder soup, mussels cooked in white wine and rainbow trout with veggies. Well, to tell you the truth the only good thing was the oysters. Everything else was very much mediocre quality with a high price tag. Mussels were absolutely dry and not tasty . Fish was overcooked & absolutelly dry . If they want to charge $25.00 for the fish it must be at least little bit better type of cooking and presentation.Otherwise it felt much more like cheap kind of street cooking . Be prepared to pay for a few slices of bread-$2,50 . Not worth the cost .
