Mission Inn Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating our anniversary. I made reservations a month ahead. We were seated 35 minutes AFTER reservation time. Hostess was rude. Told hostess my husband was diebetic, so he NEEDED to eat . She did not seem to care. Very dissapointed with our evening. Service inside was poor, we did not get our drinks till after we started to eat. Bread came when we were almost done dining.
The Inn is a wonderful place to celebrate the Christmas season, all decked out in lights, animatronic characters and beautiful decorations. The restaurant is very bustling and the host station somewhat inattentive. We had to wait about a half hour past our reservation time before we were seated. The service in the dining room was attentive. And while the menu is very traditional, the food wss delicious!
Dining at The Mission Inn always feel's like a special occasion. The setting is just beautiful with all the history, flowers, statues and lights. Sitting on the patio is a must to enjoy the stars. During the holidays it is so festive, we had pictures taken with Santa and by the Christmas Tree.
We had a wonderful server who worked very hard and the food was excellent. The Lemon Drop Martini is delicious!
The buffet on this day seemed to be off. Food was great but they were really slow at restocking the food. People were standing around waiting for the food to be replenished and that took away from the experience. They ran out of salad, shrimp, the meats and fish and we had to keep going back to just get a complete meal. People were complaining that the buffet was running out of items? It wasn't busy for the buffet to be running out of food and people standing around waiting for different dishes. Our water was great but the buffet service lacked on this particular day.
It was a wonderful evening. In the beginning the service was a little slow. Once Cindy, our server found out no one had been to our table, she took over. Cindy was exceptional. She was personal, caring, knew the menu, wines, and cocktails like the back of her hand. She was very professional. Excellent server!
The food wasn't very good. Our appetizer, calamari was tough and chewy. Our steaks were very chewy, the garlic shrimp dish was over cooked and served cold. The shrimp was tough. The only good dish was the meat and cheese dish. The drunken goat cheese was very good. It was my first time trying it. I would recommend this dish to everyone.
We went to the Mission Inn Restaurant for our 37th Wedding Anniversary dinner and to celebrate the Festival of Lights. We requested and got a patio table where the courtyard was beautifully lit with Christmas lights, decorations and animated characters! There is a heater at every table so while it was a cool evening, it was very pleasant at our table. We had the Orange Grove Salad, Herb Roasted Half Chicken and the Classic filet Mignon. The salad appears to be a Signature dish and was Excellent. What a blend of ingredients in this salad! The Herb Roasted chicken was a recommendation from the waiter and also was awesome. The chicken is marinated for hours making it very tender and juicy! The filet mignon could be cut with a fork, it was that tender. It was a great Anniversary dinner and we will definitely go back again!
Our server was sweet but very distracted; this was the only downside. Stayed one night for the Festivsl of Lights so the entire Inn was beautifully decorated. The heated patio was comfirtable and the food was delicious! We both had the filet mignon and it was perfectly cooked. The au jus was very tasty as was the side of roasted fingerling potato with asparagus. Our salads were large and fresh with wonderful dressing. All in all it was a lovely meal.
We were on a bus tour to see the lights at the Mission Inn for Christmas. I made a reservation ahead and was glad we did. We had a lovely dinner...three people at the Steak and said it was excellent served with smashed potatoes and wonderful asparagus. We shared a wedge salad and another - both perfect shared. I had the Ahi Tuna which was perfect. Dessert was the chocolate Souffle.
It was a lovely room and a great way to enjoy the holidays.
We were seated in the restaurant shortly after we arrived and received water , bread and were told our sever would be there shortly. Perhaps 15 minutes later, a harried young man stopped beside our table to tell us that our server had just gone on a 30 minute break and that service would be slow. Maybe 15 minutes later, he came back and took our order .Our menu items were delivered by a different person on staff. My steak was cold in the middle but there was no server to speak to about it. Our server did eventually arrive, explaining that she had been on a break, but by then it was too late to say anything about the meal nor, frankly did I want to wait any longer so I just asked for the bill and left.
I understand that it is a busy time of year and that employees need a break however I don't feel that patrons should be asked to wait while those needs are accommodated.
I was especially disappointed because it was a birthday dinner for my daughter, and the neglect ful table service made me feel that I had made a very poor choice for that special occasion.
