I'm a fan of focused menus, but the real choices here were slim: three fish, all seared; three big meats, all same preparation and sides; two chicken, roasted or fried, and same sides; three pastas, all white/cream based sauces. Want vegetarian? One clear choice, or choose sides. Had the night special, Linguine con le Vongole, but bucatini (which doesn't twirl) instead of linguini, and lots of big chunks of celery(!) mixed In the dish which was odd. Lots of small clams, very good, but the wine/butter sauce was grey and bland, little garlic, no parm cheese or parsley, but dill garnish? Very little flavor, and a disappointing dish. I guess the point is they need to revisit the menu and add some variety and imagination in preparation. A beautiful setting.
First of all there’s no problem when they sit us, my husband and I ordered prime rib, the steak was not tender, the knife that I was given was not cutting thru the meat, we ordered onion rings that we didn’t receive, we ordered Merlot bottle we didn’t finish but they forgot to give to us, my friend ordered chicken that is dry. The ambiance is ok. But the service is good (waitress).
We were staying at the Mission Inn, so we decided to check out the Sunday Brunch since we read good things about it. It was lovely, not only a great selection of breakfast items it also had beef, chicken, fish and vegetables, a really great "spread." The dessert area was to die for. We will be back to the inn and the brunch. The only item I would add to the brunch would be deviled eggs!
We made our reservation through OpenTable and included an edit that this was a birthday celebration. It was disappointing that we had to let the waiter know, as he had not been informed. The staff then brought a nice dessert for the birthday guest. I would not recommend the seafood buffet on Friday, but rather order from the main Mission Inn restaurant menu. While the buffet is an all-you-can-eat dinner and dessert, it does not compare to the regular menu items.
Very nice surroundings. A bit pricey, but enjoyable.
Everything was great until we checked out of the hotel. The restaurant had charged us for someone else's food, on top of ours!
Yes, mistakes happen and we understand that. It's the way things were dealt with that upset us.
We were told by the desk clerk, her manager and the restaurant manager that they would " look in to it" so in the meantime we have $102 worth of somebody else's food to pay for...I don't think so!
We demanded it be taken off our bill immediately! After some 'umming' and 'ahhing' between the three of them it finally happened. I'm shocked that they handled a mistake of their own in this manner, and with NO apology!
SHAME ON YOU Mission Inn - very poor customer service
My sister in law and I went to dinner before a show last night and we sat in the courtyard. Ambiance was amazing. I ordered the fried chicken and she ordered the salmon. The taste of both were amazing but I was very disappointed that the fried chicken dinner was three wings and nothing else. Usually when someone orders fried chicken, there are various parts of the chicken and not only 3 WINGS. I couldn't get the attention of our server because he was busy with a large group and we were on a time schedule. It should indicate that a three wing portion on the menu and is very misleading. If I would have known that, I would have ordered something else! I really didn't want to write this review because I love the Mission Inn but the patrons need to know that if you order the fried chicken, it’s a 3 wing dinner! Definitely below what ones idea of Mission Inn standard.
We ate at the Mission Inn prior to seeing the Dancing With The Stars tour show just down the street. Awesome dinner and drinks. Our server Hector did a great job and our compliments to the bartender. I didn't get his name but we were there on 3/6/18 at 5:30. Great atmosphere.
Had the “House Fried Chicken” and it was excellent on the bed of Garlic Mashed Potatoes and succotash. We paired it with a salad that was wonderful as well!
Had reservations for dinner. Was greeted and seated immediately with a smile. I had the Garlic Shrimp Scampi, and the wife had the Salmon. We both loved out dishes. Bread pudding was great! Ice cream injected cupcake was OK. Bread pudding was better.
We celebrated my dad’s birthday with out of town family. Relatives have never been to the Mission Inn and loved it. We have dined several times for dinner but never brunch. Looks forward to going to brunch again.
Love going to Sunday Brunch at the Mission Inn. Such a special thing to do. The weather was lovely, and I was able to give my friend a tour of the Inn.
It was a lovely brunch with our granddaughter and bffs.
We have been there before and as usual it was FANTASTIC. The buffet is a little expensive but the food selection and quality is always perfect and more than anyone could ever consume. The setting is also excellent and romantic.
My first time here and I would go back. It was expensive but it was worth it.
Everything was what you would expect at a nicer and pricer restaurant except waited for refils on our drinks. Only had a few other tables with customers so really no reason to wait as long as we did.
We had a great time thought the food tasted very good ! And the Bread Pudding was to die for
Loved the atmosphere! Food was great, excellent buffet. My husband and I truly enjoyed it. Timing was perfect, not overcrowded.
A favorite in Southern California with the ambience of Europe.
Great intimate place with a hint of romance. Great customer service and professionalism.
I was disappointed we were not able to sit in patio because of wet weather. But we enjoyed our gathering just the same. In making reservations on line it had asked what the occasion was. We came for a friends birthday, but no one mentioned from restaurant mentioned the occassion. Don't know why reservation website asks that question.
But all was good.
They provide the best service in town! Foods are nice too! 5 stars.
Steven our server was excellent the food was great and the surrounding fantastic . Would definitely recommend
The food was delicious, the waiter was not impressive, he disappeared for long lengths of time. We had to ask the runner for the check and our drinks. The restaurant wasn’t busy but yet he complained that the chefs were behind so that’s why our deserts took too long to get to us. In reality I believe he was just a poor server and blamed others for his lack of work ethic. The mission needs to train their wait staff better or they need to fire this individual.
We had a bottle of wine from the tasting room with no corkage fee. There was a Valentine’s Day heart lit up in the outside courtyard. The bread was warm and dripping with real butter. The food was superb. My wife and I had a wonderful staycation.
Women’s bathroom was filthy.
The food and dessert was amazing, atmosphere as well. Our wait staff was okay, seemed to me that the larger parties of young girls around us were getting service beyond great. We had to ask at least 4 times for refills as others around us were getting refills before their glasses were 1/4 empty. Had to flag down wait staff to bring an item and he brought the complete opposite. Was sad as we were there for a special occasion with friends from out of state.
Had an amazing Valentine's dinner with my wife. Our waiter, Lalo, provided exceptional service. We would definitely return!
Our special family birthday was celebrated in a beautiful historic place where ambiance and a delicious lunch made it an afternoon to remember- the desserts were the best!!!!
The food hasn’t changed for years. I only go back when someone else wants to try it. I’m speaking just of the food. The mission is a very special place to see. But the Mission restaurant need updating. It needs updating with something new. Don’t eat the salmon or garden burger. Salmon isn’t a burger it’s mush in a bun with no flavor and the garden burger came out f a box. Just saying!.. Next time I gi I will call first to see if they updated or changed chefs.. They did give me a cheesecake to make up for the bad meal.. It was good.. But being the Mission Inn someone should really see what there serving...
The food was delicious and the place was amazing but the customer service was lacking it definitely could use some work on that. Over all it was a good experience.
Beautiful hotel with a special mixture of artistic and traditional musings. It has the feeling of time traveling back to a time where the finer things in life are painted on the walls and in the food.
Service was superb and the ambiance was delightful. I would definitely return.
My husband and I were staying at the Mission Inn and have been to thr other surrounding restaurants and wanted to try something new.
We had a very attentive waiter, Hector.
The food was delicious and the live music was a pleasure to listen to.
I would highly recommend this place with all it has to offer
Only negative was the small pour for a $11 on the rocks drink in the lobby bar.
Filet mignon was great, steak was a bit chewy, but overall an enjoyable experience. Banana cream tart was surprisingly amazing!
Reservation service was nice. There were no problems with getting our table and staff was friendly. We sat outside in the quad and I️t was beautiful, service was good and food was delicious. We had the sausage pasta and the garden burger, the bread they served was warm and we ordered a couple of drinks and had no problems with them. Definitely would go there again!
Beautiful place, but the food could have been better.
We celebrated Valentine's Day here. The restaurant is beautiful and decorated with lights. The food was good. However, it took awhile for the chocolate souffle even if we ordered it at the time we placed our food order. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, I would return and recommend.
I brought my family to the mission inn restaurant for Valentine’s Day. The ambience was beautiful as always but the service was not very good. It took 45 minutes to 50 minutes to get her food. Yes I understand it’s Valentine’s Day, but families that were seated 10 to 15 minutes after us had already received their food. We had to request three separate times to turn the heaters on because it was getting cold. Every time we would ask they would forget. The quality vs price for the food was fair at best. I had the fried chicken and it was lukewarm when I ate it. For the price of the food and the ambience I would’ve thought the service would’ve been much better. We love the Mission Inn and all of the other restaurants we have eaten at are marvelous.
Amazing food and ambience.... will definetly be back .
