Mission Inn Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I made a reservation at a Vance at the mission and was told our table was not ready. I was traveling with my 90-year-old one aunt and my sister. We waited about 30 minutes and then we’re seated at a lovely table and decided to have the buffet. The buffet was not ready and the food was not good at all. The potatoes were lumpy the meet was cold and it was overall poor quality. I complain to the waitress and she say they were an award-winning restaurant But bad food is bad food. When we went to the buffet we came back to our table and I have been cleared of all our water and the bread and the waitress said she made a mistake in clearing the table and again we waited for a new table to be set. Your experience was for the attitude of the waitress and the house was for and I won’t go back.
Though I had a reservation at 1045 they were going to seat me inside I asked if I could seat outside in courtyard and I would be willing to wait. They could not give me a time of how long it would be for just one person. They didn’t seem to want to accommodate or even try. If you want patio make sure to add that in your comments when making reservation. Finally one of the 4 hostess standing decided to walk outside to give me a time frame and I was able to be seated. There were plenty of tables available. But seemed they save them for larger parties. Andrew was my Server who was training Claudia? And they were both really nice! Quality of food was ok nothing I would die to have again but prices is good.
The Mission Inn Patio is one of my favorite places because your visual appetite is equally satisfied especially around the holidays. Lunch buffet was excellent. We were encouraged to enjoy our visit with no pressure to "clear the table". Overall outstanding time...company, environment and weather.
Visited on a date for their Sunday Champagne brunch. Their selection of entrees, salads, sides and desserts was exceptional. The standard champagne offered is not particularly good. They have an excellent set of alternatives. Both indoor and outdoor dining. Brunch is very casual; lots of families. Valet parking or on street parking. Saturday and Sunday you’re not required to pay at the parking meters.
Very good, traditional Sunday brunch with carving stations, piles of shrimp on ice, salads, bacon/sausage, and a decadent pastry table. Kitchen was open for freshly-made custom omelettes, pancakes, eggs benedict, waffles and much more. I loved the bagel and lox with all the trimmings. All food was of high quality ingredients, and made perfectly. Champagne and mimosas were freely available. Our waiters were friendly, attentive and helpful. The Mission Inn is lovely and historic, so the setting is terrific. We enjoyed our first visit, and will return.
The Mission Inn is beautiful, no doubt and we love this place but was highly dissapointed today with our lunch experience. Our waiter did not know about the menu, couldn't answer any of our questions about the Inn. He misrepresented the desert completely. It was my birthday and I included that in the reservation but was not acknowledged at all. When I brought it up to the waiter, he said he was not informed. I asked if my desert would be complimentary for my birthday and he said no, we don't do that. But he said if he would have known, he would have put a candle on my plate! What? I know we will return because this place is nice but will ask for an informed and experienced waiter next time like we should have had today! Sour experience today for sure. Not so Happy Birthday! ):
This restaurant is in the Mission Inn, a historical landmark in downtown Riverside. Dining in the courtyard in the evening is a special experience; it’s a beautiful setting!
I had the garlic shrimp, which was excellent. My wife enjoyed her lamb ragout. The service was excellent, with good pacing throughout the meal. The setting is elegant. The prices are reasonable for such an elegant place.
The only negative was the noise drifting through from a rather loud wedding reception inside the Inn, but the noise did not seriously detract from a very nice dining experience.
I have eaten here quite a few times, for special occasions and meeting family here. I have always been impressed and pleased. This time the service was just not up to par. We waited for each course. It was a special birthday celebration whichI had mentioned at the time I made reservations, and I had to request a special favor (dessert) for the honored guest. The bill came, still no celebratory dessert offering. I requested again, waited and it was finally served, after we had paid the bill. I was keenly disappointed with the service. It was not crowded, many empty tables, not a prime seasonal time, so I could not understand the lack of attention that was experienced. I do hope this can be improved. It would be a shame for this type of experience to decrease the loveliness of this historic tradition! I also thought charging $15 for valet parking was far too pricey!
The menu was just right and the prices reasonable for the Mission Inn. The wait staff we got was okay, not terrific, but okay. Our table was right in the way of the double door leading to the patio area and in front of the bar so there was a lot of traffic around our table. It felt almost as if our table was placed near the kitchen - the place where no one wants to be seated at.
I've been to the Mission Inn Sunday Brunch a handful of times over the last 10 years, and the food has really gone downhill. It's a steep price for cold food, lack of selections and overlooked peel and eat shrimp. The atmosphere is very nice. Guess that's what your paying for. Ver disappointed.
I love the Mission Inn and got married there. I frequently go and Service and food always excellent but this last Saturday the service was poor and the food was not very good. The waiter didn’t want to get my mother a cappuccino because he had to get it from another restaurant in the hotel even though it was on the menu. So odd. I’m hoping this was a one-off. Too bad because it was her 70th birthday.
Not so many people, but we waited for about 20-30 minutes for the food to be served. And we waited another 15 minutes for the servant to bring us the bill. There was no music and we didn't receive any attention from the servant and I even can't find the dessert menu. Even though I went there to celebrate my birthday, I felt very disappointed about the atmosphere and service.
The location and atmosphere are great - specifically for a special occasion such as a birthday. The Sunday Brunch atmosphere is very nice and the live music is a nice touch on the patio. The only complaint we had was that for the money the food is just OK. The salad bar and entrees are nothing special, the seafood bar was nice but almost always empty with long lines waiting for refills, and the dessert bar was typical hotel banquet fare.
Having said this, sitting out on the patio enjoying the music and champagne, overall it was a good experience. Go for the atmosphere and experience . . . not the food.
Service and food were very nice, we had the buffet, the sides choices could of been better. The dessert choices were excellent! We were not happy that the hostess did not offer to be seated where the live music was playing we thought it was for drinks only, but found out after that dinner was also served there as well, we would like to have dinner and enjoy the live music.
