I dont know what happened to the menu but it was bad. I have eaten here before a while ago and it was awesome, now it is bland and overpriced. only vegetarian/pescatarian options are bean burritos, bean tacos or bean nachos........

They only had 3 different Mexican entree options, and by 8:30 on a Thursday they were already out of tacos? That didn't make any sense to me. The food wasn't bad, but ridiculously overpriced. I paid $19 for a burrito that was no better than anything I've ever had at Chipotle for half the price. Our waitress was nice but forgot 2 things that we asked for. She also never came back to our table to check in and see if there was anything else we needed.

I was excited to try Mission Cantina as I'd heard rave reviews. The food and service were great, but I felt it was over priced for what it was--another place fallen under the "we're cool" spell...

Great place for a casual bite to eat with friends downtown. I had heard that this restaurant got crazy busy, so made a reservation. But given it was a Tuesday night, the place was fairly empty and there were a number of free tables when we showed up. We tried the burger, chicken burrito and chinese burrito - the latter was by far the winner! Great combination of flavours, with simple but tasty choices. Drinks menu was good also. Friendly servers, if not slightly inexperienced. Definitely recommend.

The cuisine is a wild mix of Chinese and Mexican, very creatively done. I would avoid the burrito, but the wings and the ceviche were marvelous, and the whole vibe is crazy delightful.

We had an array of food, but unfortunately they were sold out of some of the dishes we wanted to try. We had: - spicy mole chicken wings - wholy molly they are spicy but probably the best wings I ever had. Crunchy, juicy and just perfect - guacamoe - very nice - beef tartare served with shrimp chips. They were delicious and had a vietnamese flair to it - fish tacos - a bit too big a plate and the spicyness overpowered the fish flavor. Did not finish this dish - papaya salat - absolutely amazing. Very spicy -chow mein - a little disappointing as it was just homemade noodles in a curry. It tasted good but missed some vegetables or nuisances in flavor. The noodles were very nice but we had expected a more complex dish, especially given the other dishes We also had their draft beer which went really well with the food. Desert: matcha icecream which were finished. Our server was really friendly and went out of his way to make sure all guests were happy. Gotta try Mission Chinese Food now. My minus was that we sat outside because the noise level inside was too high for us (was ringing in my ears) and we wanted to be able to talk. Something from one of the uppper apartments was dripping so that was what ruined the ambience. Decor and style is very trendy yet comfortable. I wouldn't call the noise level energetic - just too loud. I find that more and more places just do not get noise design and they think they can drown bad acoustics with loud music. Just not comfortable.

This place used to be a LOT better when it first opened. Both the food menu AND the drink menu were far more innovative and in line with what Danny was doing at Mission Chinese. Fast-forward a year or two, and all of the sudden they're sporting an overpriced menu for high trust fund kids. I mean, I'm not saying it wasn't tasty. The queso was great. The burger (topped with fermented green chiles, a unique and flavorful touch) was quite good. And the kung pao cauliflower was excellent. But the overall creativity of the menu has gone way downhill, and the price point has moved inversely. There are better things you can get for the money. And yes, that's including the offerings at Mission Chinese. I truly think Bowien should go back to the first menu concept (which included a grilled avocado with charred bread and a tortilla plate with fresh butter and white anchovies, both of which were transcendent), or just give up and try something new.

Food was excellent and servers were very friendly and accommodating. However, we waited insanely long for one last dish (fish tacos) to come out. Everyone else had finished their food before the last person's tacos arrived. It was a bit a peeving, but the staff was apologetic and sweet, so it was easier to overlook that issue. Overall, great food and vibes.

Unbelievably bad food. General Tso's chicken was inedible - greasy with a nasty flavor and piled on the plate in an unappealing mess, even the rice was not cooked fully and looked like they fished it out of the garbage. The avocado in the guacamole was unripe, unmixed and about the worst I've ever had, served with stale chips. The service was bizarre, my dinner came out twenty minutes after the rest of the table with no apologies. My friends said their burritos were ok, but definitely fast food grade. I had about three bites of mine and then had to give up in despair fearing for my health and eat somewhere else. This restaurant is kind of cute and trendy, but shouldn't be serving food.

Mission Cantina's menu is constantly changing, however, on my last visit the menu had an eclectic mix of west coast style Mexican and reimagined Chinese-American favorites. Everything we ate was delicious. Our favorite dish of the night was the tomatillo fried rice. It's a perfect blend of salty and sour and the texture is supremely fluffy.

I went here 6 months ago and had an awesome time. The menu was expansive and staff was there to make sure we had a good time, etc. I guess the place is taking itself "more seriously" and the menu had few options and when I asked for hot sauce the had to wait for the chef to "make some"!! It's hot sauce at a Mexican restaurant on the LES. Who are you trying to impress! Just have some delicious food in a fun atmosphere, that's all they have to do. I'm bummed but probably won't be in there again. It offers very little in my estimation but by all means give it a shot. Not terrible just NOTHING special. P.S. Never got hot sauce.

Be warned the menu currently on OpenTable is incorrect. I went with a date and expected oysters and fresh, light fare. Instead it is heavy Mexican and Chinese. Still really delicious, just not what I expected so I was a little taken aback.

Though the food was delicious I left feeling that it was overpriced. I was most excited about the wings which I have heard excellent things about but felt they was very little meat and again overpriced for what I received. The drink was creative but for beer and some type of bloody mary mix it felt it was again overpriced for what I got. I ambiance was great and service was excellent. I would recommend but inform that person to expect to pay for overpriced Mexican food.
